Sorry disregard the question, I was being lazy. Did one web search found my answer. Gotta add the rk006 and now this midi looper to my already too expensive list of shit to buy.

The RK006 can do a lot of things. It’s a great little box for solving most of one’s MIDI needs.

I haven't tried syncing it yet. But it has a bunch of external sync options. The Quantise is something I've just tested a little bit. There's both Quantise and Shuffle settings on it. I need to try it out more.

It has recording quantisation to a bar always. However you can set the length of a loop in advance and that way there are more options for polyrhythms

It sounds like it's quantizing his playing quite a lot in the first couple of loops. Was wondering if it was possible to turn it off, and what kind of resolution it had.

wul01 technically yes, but the catch here is how quickly you can access to make a fresh loop. Sequencer interfaces allow a lot more but are a lot slower. The difference is the interface

if this works like I think it does, which is arbitrary loop length without any ties to bpm or number of recorded measures, this is something that to my knowledge (which might be out of date) cannot be had at a reasonable price on the market atm. I was very close to building my own with an arduino and a midi shield, I might wait to see what they ask for it now. This is a tool for immediate recording of midi notes (and parameters) without figuring out what bpm or how many measures is needed. There are definitely a lot of uses for that for people that like to fool around on synths to come up with ideas for music, not to mention the options for live improvisation. I hope the price is justifiable for me, or if not that they release it as a diy kit some time. Edit: just watched the sonic state interview, the price is too steep for me for what I want to do with it. Might still be worth it for live artists, but for me it’s back to arduino midi...

nopee Nopeee you can either sync it to other gear or use tap tempo or free running mode (simillar to audio loopers). Looplengths are not really limited

This is a very immediate and simple to use looper mini sequencer. It is great for a more gridless approach than many hardware sequencers out there, and the immediate and compact side is something I like a lot. Which sequencer were you referring to by the way when you're saying "the sequencer"? The one on the Bass Station 2?

Also there's much underrated novation circuit' which could be used in a similar way to record and loop in coming midi

I think you can dedicate each track to one MIDI channel. It seems that each track is only sending out MIDI to one MIDI channel. You're free to set up each track to MIDI channel 1-16. You can use the same MIDI channel on all tracks if you want to layer MIDI recordings on the same machine if you want to.

@@truecuckoo Yes, and everybody with Ableton should try this out 🙂 I've been working on this exact same thing on an Axoloti Core for years, but ended up just using Ableton. I have a hard time understanding why Bastl would limit (or, not expand) the memory on this device - I mean, it's MIDI data. Doesn't take much space. Faders, for controlling overall MIDI velocity or volume, of each looper channel (in the style of the volume faders of the EHX2880), was an additional I was working on with the Axoloti Core.
