I dream of a computer-less music setup. This gives me hopes. Could I use this for making a few parts for a song? Perhaps use the 3 channel buttons for that somehow?

I spent a frustrated few minutes not realizing I had it in Free Running clock mode and couldn't get sync to hold. After I realized that was the issue it's been smooth sailing since. Really fun device.

Another trouble...The Midi Looper dosn´t listen to Clock Out of my Arturia Drumbrute, and I have dialed red LED for Clock In function. The Drumbrute is set to 24 PPQN, and Divider in Midi Looper is set to =01, and works right when I connect it throug MIDI In of the Drumbrute, but not through analog clock. Several connector cables have been tried (TRS, TS, 1 meter, 5 meters..none of them worked) It´s being hard to synchronise everything...Any help out there?

I would love to try one of these. Unfortunately my crappy Roland RD 88 does not have a midi input. Or I would probably buy one immediately.

Yeah - this is a key concept. Fn- play and cycle through to find one that works for you

It has audio in for sending sample based clock from audio interface? So can it work as a clock generator?

Can I set it _not_ to send any MIDI Clock or Start/Stop data and just send the notes? I have one of those first production run MC-303 which have broken MIDI clocks so I essentially only want to play a sequence by hand on it and have the MIDI looper send the notes of that sequence back to it without triggering the MC-303's on-board sequencer which quickly loses sync.

Mine came in yesterday afternoon from Perfect Circuit, and been in heaven since. I'm using it only on one synth right now, but it's just such a blast and a relief compared to using a guitar looper, a midi sequencer, and step sequencers. Within minutes my kids 7 & 11 learned it and we're creating awesome loops especially with the overdub. Your Roland Sound Canvas isn't as old as mine. Mine was used to make Sega Audio video game sounds. It's the Sc-88 Pro.

I´m having some troubles with my Midi Looper. I select the free running mode, but it starts recording randomly, not waiting till it listens to the first note. I got the gear some days ago and I guess I´m doing something wrong, but reading the manual and watching the video I don´t get what it is. Clock settings are fine (Fr glowing) and midi connections too...Do somebody have any clue?

Solved (so far). My Akai MPK49 was sending ghost midi notes, so it was activating the recording without actually playing anything. In the first comment you´ve got the answer, you should turn your knobs back and forth and it will start to respond right

I´m still having some thoughts about how record is activated with the footswitch. Actually it seems you can´t just push the FS and automatically record a loop. This kind of ruins my idea of using the FS of the Boss RC20-xl audio looper at the same time I create a loop in it, so it would synchronise both by pushing the same FS.

@DALTRON666 I tried, it doesn't. It took a while for me to get it to work as following the manual, it doesn't loop. But I got the nord drum 3p to finally loop only if plugged into midi in AND midi out. Clock source set to Free running - or I used CV (analog clock in)from a synth.. side note - this means i can only use midi looper to loop one instrument, not more like what is shown here, unfortunately. Nord uses the GlobIal midi channel [10], to accord with midi looper voice10. Now, you can set 2 or even 3 voices on the midi looper to 10, and record a loop on voice A, and overdub.. then go to voice B to make another loop. But if you change the kit setting on the nord, that change will be reflected in the loop already made, which does make sense (it isn't capturing audio afterall). I guess what I'll try to maximise dynamic with nord drum loops is create custom kits, and choose very contrasting sounds so on one kit setting, overdubs can be more interesting.

This was really very helpful--thank you! I've had my MidiLooper for a while but hadn't really taken the time to figure it out and was wondering whether I should keep it. After watching this and carefully following the steps, now I understand and realize what a useful tool it is! Excellent! It's like my Reface CP and Blofeld just got sequencers!

I am having some issues with playback. When I record a sequence I am not getting any audio playback but the LED lights have indicated that something was recorded. MIDI channel is correct.

Really intuitive device. I would like to be able to alternate between two midi controllers. One keyboard controlling a couple of Roland boutiques on the one Midi channel and an Electribe ER - 1 on a second Midi channel. And a Kaossilator Pro controlling itself on a third Midi Channel. Part of me says no way this won't work. Despite using one or the other controller individually when needed it will ultimately confuse the destination device - The Bastl Midi Looper. Maybe this Destination device can tell the difference between the two different controllers. It would be fantastic if it could. There are Midi Y cables available online . . but I suspect they're for one source and two destination devices. Any input would be gratefully appreciated.

I've been playing with the MIDI looper for about a week now, it's become my GOTO composition toy. Its performance appears to be flawless to me, so far. I have noticed if I let it just repeat for a very long time it has sort of gone into a standby or something a couple of times but aside from that it has been an absolutely amazing tool. I have always been a big fan of loopers for audio and own a couple of really nice ones, but this makes so much more sense. 🙂

Awesome thing, I will order at the end of the month! :) How to connect if you have midi keyboard controller with MIDI OUT and a synth with MIDI IN+OUT (synth without keyboard)? The keyboard is connected to DAW to get the tempo and I want everything in sync, how should I connect the MIDI cables?

Would you not run out of polyphony after doing the same number of passes as the polyphony count of yr connected synth, e.g. if it has 8 note polyphony you are limited to 8 tracks or 8 notes at once???

Continuing to have a great time with it, I've had a really easy time setting it up in REAPER to control 3 VSTIs, this thing has brought audio looper simplicity to MIDI and I'm really thrilled. This is really well designed, there are so many ways one could use this. I think this will easily work with
