@@jordancobb509 Also worth mentioning that Batman could have not only cause harm to The Penguin and his goons by tying them down in the front of the Batmobile, but also blocking Batman’s vision when driving the Batmobile. Batman should have had the 2 goons in the passenger seat In the Batmobile, while Robin should have drove the Batcycle with the Penguin in the passenger seat. Geez hasn’t Batman & Robin heard of safety first for goodness sake?!
@@kyleboulanger170 --- It wasn't permanent damage. He was a wreckless driver and he did cause damage to the point the producers had to use the extra batmobiles.
@@Tazzman225 Technically, there were no extra Batmobiles. A second car was built with a radically different "gumball" on the roll bar, and a third was built for exhibitions at dragstrips. But, according to stuntman Hubie Kerns, who drove the car 99.9% of the time, "We never saw another Batmobile; all we had was that piece of sh!t that looked good." I think Batmobile #2 was used for things like supermarket and discount department store openings. The engine in the #1 car was tired and required extra fans to keep it cool and those fans drew more amps than the alternator could handle, so they were running to auto parts stores to buy more car batteries. Also, the steering linkage would break at inappropriate times. The Lincoln Futura was a show car and wasn't meant to be driven hard on the streets and highways of Los Angeles.
The only thing I did not like about this show was that it relied so heavily on violence. I don't understand why Batman was such a role model in all other things (always teaching Robin how to be an upstanding citizen and follow all rules and laws, but at the same time...He always resorted to violence by punching and "kapowing" the villains (instead of try to use a more diplomatic and peaceful method by reasoning with them and trying to show them the error of his their criminal ways). What is worse is that he encouraged Robin to also participate in physical violence - IN ALMOST EVERY EPISODE! I think that is why there is so much violence in today's society....because every kid who grew up watching this show thought it was "cool" and "heroic" to solve society's problems with physical violence. BOOOH Batman.... Shame on you!!!!!
Only a kid when Batman was a new show, I didn't appreciate just how fabulously silly they played their parts. Burgess Meredith did his Penguin role so well.

Burgess Merediths version of the penguin was one and original from the comics very pompous and the best. Danny De vitos one was recreated and more scraggy, nothing like the other. Always with the top hat, tuxedo, monocle, smoker and umbrella.

This Batcycle was very different than the Batcycle that was seen in the 1966 "Batman" movie based on the TV series and then in Seasons Two and Three of the TV series.
This was the first season Batcycle with a conventional side car. The subsequent seasons used the one with the go-kart for when they went to use the Batcopter.
A Batmobile mechanic, Dan Magera, thought that rented cycle with plexiglas added was inadequate. He designed a Batcycle himself and presented it to William Dozier. Dozier liked it and leased it from Magera for the movie and seasons 2 and 3.

Simple rear projection, there is screen on background where "dashcam" footage is projected. All closeups are filmed inside studio, rear projection was used for car chases for decades. In 1920/1930 image on background is flickering because of missing synchronization.
@@petrberanek4230 Right. Rear projection was used for interior car scenes for decades, even in the Viper cockpit shots in Battlestar Galactica. What was great about that was the actors could look out of the cockpit and see what was being projected and react to it.
It only became less used with digital methods. But there is still something superior about practical effects like these, the actors have some actual props to ineract with.
Other arch criminals who stolen the Batmobile was, Riddler, Catwoman, Book Worm, King Tut, Mad Hatter (did not succeed), Blaze (False face's moll and did not succeed), and the Sandman.
Why does Batman want to take control of the steering? Why can't he just take control of the brakes. Push a button and mini brakes come out instead of a steering wheel
Seems like it's tradition for Penguin to hijack the Batmobile. He's done it here, he's done it in Batman Returns, he's even done it in the 90s Animated Series.
Personally, I liked nearly everything about the world of "Batman" and I am NOT into favoritism either when it comes to the excitement of getting to know the Caped Crusader and other flamboyant characters from the comic book to the pop culture scene as well.
@@punchline43 Robin hearing Penguin's goon saying he's seeing ghosts on a Bat Cycle when they were distance away and couldn't possibly have been within hearing range.
@@AndrewChapman Ok thanks. There was a gap of time there and I just kept starting at 3:25, listening for a few seconds and going back too soon to put together the "that" and Robin's response. Good catch though :D
This was the first season. They obviously didn't care much for this first Bat cycle and so they redesigned it for the movie, which then appeared for the remainder of the series.
That bat cycle is the best one especially the side car unlike the other one. That control of the batmobile from the bat cycle I knew was phony and I think was stupid.
Penguins minions truly are the worst shots in history. Oh, and who is driving the bat cycle back to the bat cave? Does it has some bat recall function with automated bat navigation? Why not just let Robin drive it.
