This series actually jumpstarted my viewing of all the DCAU shows again. I’ve been doing this thing where I pick a villain or other character, and watching all of their episodes back to back. Catwoman and Scarecrow were very good ones to view like this!
While the gap between 2020's and last year's Bat-May felt like forever to me, I didn't the same towards the one between last year's and this one but glad this review series is still ongoing. Thanks, Walter.
Im so ready for this years bat-may. The last two helped me get through some tough spots in my life, and I'm ready for it to help me get through another one.

Finally Bat-May is back and now its time to watch both compilations in preparation for the third. Dark knight month's Mask of the Phantasm review was a great little head start even if it was a month ago.

Batman Beyond is outstanding. The Batman is Interesting. But Brave and Bold after few episodes started being dark and grim. There's someone dying in almost every episode. It covers diffrent stories, places and heroes. I highly recommend you watching this after Batman TAS
I've been on such a Batman/DC Animated Show kick since Bat-May 2020 and have now watched all of Batman TAS, and am going through Batman Beyond and Superman TAS. I also loved The Batman movie and even read two comics afterwards like the Batman: Mad Love and other stories, Batman: Year One which and the WebToon Wayne Family Adventures series to get to know all of the other characters in the Bat family! I also just bought the Arkham videogames so I'm going to be all into Batman this summer! Also, I took a class that looked into robots in theater which then meant we had to talk about the Rossum's Universal Robots play so imagine my surprise when I saw the Heart of Steel episode with the creator of H.A.R.D.A.C. was named Rossum as an homage to the play that introduced the world to robots. At the end of the class I also wrote an essay analyzing the His Silicon Soul episode because it related on if robots are able to be humans. So excited for Bat-May!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One of my favourite lines of any two-face iteration, is that “one half of me wants to strangle ya” “what does the other half want” and surprisingly, he responds “to hit you with a truck” showing that she expected him to have been talking about the scarred side, when in reality, he was talking about Harvey, and then in response, he tells her what the scarred side wants
Ya know Almost Got ‘Im was the first episode to introduce me to BTAS, and for the longest time I thought it was the first episode because of its premise. It has a wonderful introduction premise, because it introduces you to Batman’s rouges gallery, and shows you their gimmicks, their tricks, even a little twist to how good the writing can be at the end by also showing you just how crafty Batman can be in hun posing as Killer Croc And in I Am The Knight there’s a little nod to a future episode there, such as that scene they play for us in the episode, when Batman talks to Dick he says; “One day I’ll go down, it might be the Joker, or Two Face, or some Punk who just gets lucky”, which is probably something that inspired “The Man Who Killed Batman”
That's honestly one thing I don't get is why the heck they changed the design on most of the characters. Their design for most of them were perfect like the joker and catwoman. Scarecrow yeah that needed to be changed.
hey NS, bat may is coming and I thought - oh man its going to be hard keep doing batman reviews without any movies/tv shows left...then I thought, there are still shows like 'the batman', 'batman the brave and the bold', movies like under the red hood, hush, the killing joke, the dark knight returns, all batman dcamu (all recent batman movies with damian). would be nice to have some change :)
The 2000s era Teen Titans comic did a great parody to 'Almost Got 'Im' that takes a more comical approach to it. Rather than the villains recounting how they 'almost got the Titans' they retell stories where they put themselves out as the victim of events they caused with each of the Titans suffering in the outcome, resulting in the bad guys getting away but they play it up as if a great battle happened when int reality they only escaped thanks to dumb luck (Cyborg getting his car towed, Beast Boy getting electrocuted, ect) It ends when it's revealed that RAVEN was in disguise as one of the bad guys and she was hiding the other Titans in her shadow, finally capturing the bad guys.
On the Robin being taken out by Zucco, it wasn't that he thought that highly of Zucco. Its that he knew Robin. Mainly his emotions taking over at times, when emotional incidents happened. The best fogjters all have one thing in common. It's NEVER personal to them, just a job, hobby, or way to let off steam. They don't allow their emotional state to take them off their game. It was the first, fully capable, confrontation with the person who mirdered his parents. No way he wouldn't have been emotional. Which makes you lose focus. That. That's when the guy who doesn't seem like a serious threat gets lucky. Meaning person with little, or less, training or experience. Add in a soze difference, and at least, equal, experience case, he could have Taken Robin. Makes enough sense to me, that I fully agree with Bruce about it. Of it was my kid, I'd want them to sit that one out.
Oh I completely forgot. Nice. My mind was completely focused on Twilight-Tober. I guess we will never see Dr Strange in a large movie now that everyone identifies him with Marvel.
About 6 minutes in there is audio from the show, "on this team, I call the shots" and the narration goes on to say that Batman shuts Grayson out completely. Makes me wonder if some of that was inspired by, and also partly parallels the strife between the writers and FOX on including Robin in the show.
I remember when I was little my dad kept old vhs tapes of btas The laughing fish and If you’re so smart why aren’t you rich. Those were some of my favorite memories just sitting up late at night watching these over and over.
Producers of this series later confirmed that the kid who is reformed thanks to Batman in I am the Night was supposed to be Jason Todd. At the time, they were toying around with the idea of slowly introducing Todd into the series and eventually have him replace Dick Greyson as Batman's sidekick, just like it happened in the comics. However, the show was cancelled before any of it could come to fruition.
Though 2022 is close to ending, I hope you have the time to complete Bat-May 2022 for the remaining Batman series. Watching these reviews has me reminisce on the episodes I didn't appreciate since I was 3 when this series first aired in 1992. My only dislike is the character design changes in The New Adventures and change in Batman's character to being more cold and distant.
Dark Knight Trilogy not only was inspired by this series but actually took some complete or partially complete plot points from it. For example, Talia al Ghul posing as ally of Batman before turning on him, Ra's al Ghul wanting Batman to take his place in Society/League of Shadows, new version of Harvey Dent's transformation into Two-Face etc.
I was not aware of Bat May until I saw the notification for this compilation from 2021, and then I find out in my recommended and then find out again at the end screen that there's a compilation of episodes from 2020. How far back does the series go? Anyways I guess I'll watch the compilation from 2020 even though I just watched the compilation from 2021 first.
Would have loved the Christma Tree Poison Ivy concept for Almost Got Em, the Halloween and Pumpkins filled with a toxic gas is just screaming Scarecrow plot... even the art, thematic elements and theme
Since Batman was disguised as croc during that time he probably considered that moment with the big rock to be the closest anyone came to actually taking him out
He played Etrigan the Demon in the New Batman adventures. It was my 1st intro to the Kirby character & I am a fan of Billy Zane because of this & Tales from the Crypt Demon Knight & the Phantom
3:01:54 I mean….sorta? When the Lazarus pit and Rhas were introduced in Gotham. Ivy used hypnotizing perfume to get past all the major protagonists to get her hands on it to create a plant so potent it would infect the entire city. So technically speaking, yes they did team up but not directly.
"Harley and Ivy" has always been one of my favorite episodes of this show. I'm not a Batman fan by any means but I do remember watching this series. What I liked about this episode was the bonding of the two women, Ivy's strong feminist streak clashing with Harleen's pitiable clinging to her abusive relationship with her on-again off-again partner the Joker. I really did want Harleen to break away from that toxic disaster of a boyfriend and Ivy's toughness (after Harleen initially berates her for screwing up her diamond heist) is just what the doctor ordered. My favorite moment would have to be when Harley pulls out that bazooka (where was she hiding THAT?) and blows away that car filled with young hooligans. "Here's the paddle!" Classic.
Hey, I've a question that I always wonder. once Bay-May is officially over with when you done all the episodes of the original and New Adventures series, will you move on to doing the other DCAU series? Like September can be for Superman: The Animated Series and call it Supe-tember and June can be for Justice League and Justice League Unlimited and call it June-Tice League.
In the beware the gray ghost review he said that he couldn't get into the Adam West batman show. Well after the animated series he can do that and give his honest opinion on every episode and the movie.

I think Batman saying "take", how Zucco might take Robin, is not that he might kill Robin but that Robin might kill him. Thus being lost or taken from Batman.
I had a vhs tape of Saturday morning cartoons I recorded when I was 12. There was eek the cat, the tick, X-Men, and batman....I watched it so many times tbe tape was stretching, and the audio had started to go. The one episode of batman that i watched more than any other was where he was" trapped" in a dream. But it's been so long I forget the name

Only one person Batman is afraid of; Alfred. Alfred made him eat chicken soup. Tyger Tyger was obviously a precursor into Batman beyond (Splicers). And Batman beyond was a continuation from BTAS.
What Veronica did to Penguin... There is just no excuse for that. Penguin should not have gotten arrested in the end, as he was a victim of the story. People like Veronica and her friends are the reason why not so many criminals even get a chance to reform.
Actually, the Riddler is Batman’s most unbeatable villain. If you’ve played the Arkham Trilogy games, it’s damn near impossible to beat and it’s because of The Riddler.
i also forgot that Bat May is coming! according to my research, there are only 20 episodes left of Batman TAS. And that will leave only 10 days left of this month. And The New Batman Adventures has 24 episodes (or 32 if you want to count the Static Shock/Superman Crossover) that would mean for the first 5 days, you will have to review 4 episodes on the same video, then for the other 8, it would have to be solo videos, with one or two of bat may left
Actually, there's 23 episodes left, 2 more if you count the movies. That means Walt would only be able to cover 6 TNBA episodes this year. And as far as next year, the only crossover I see him covering is World's Finest. The rest are exclusive Superman and Static Shock episodes that happen to guest star Batman. That means he'll be covering 22 more episodes (including Mystery of the Batwoman) to go before he moves on to Batman Beyond.
You know what would be good for another timeline of Batman? Bruce Wayne providing aid in reforming Batman's rogues gallery, so when anyone suspects Bruce is Batman, the villains laugh their asses off like they did at Strange. And just like Two-Face being Bruce's old pal, the reason would be because he has offered them all help, with varying reports of whether or not they accepted it. I forget when but I think he has offered help to some of his foes, though as Batman rather than Bruce.
