I love how Andy played out the situation of being in this. For sure he will raise some eyebrows and instigate some debates. The best thing about this video is that for every weird fucked up almost illegal trick he does, he follows up with clean sharp "normal" tricks, as to say "yeah, keep treating me as the court jester so I can make your jaw drop when you realize I'm actually fucked up great at skating", Loved how Torey just went with it, too.

YALL ARE MAD 😂😂 Andy went back into the past and pulled out old school tricks. All of y’all need to learn skate history and sit down. Literally all of street skating is freestyle. Ollies, kickflips, impossibles, nollie back 3s and so many other tricks are freestyle tricks that are allowed. Aside from the bean plant every trick was legal including the wet stop. It’s not a manual he’s literally balancing his weight over his truck and reverting. Andy is a breathe of fresh air to these stale regulated games of skate. Be different and not a robot

Andy is amazing, and I’m happy he won this, but he isn’t as consistent at basics in all stances as other skaters. If someone else gets on offense and does a bunch of switch and nollie fundamentals, he will lose pretty quickly.

For him to take out Nick Holt would be a unreal feat as he is incredibly technical and very consistent. Trory had an off day but that what makes skate so exciting not in a million years did I think any would win but here we are. Nothing aginst Andy but he need to speed up a bit he skates flat going very slowly.

I love the Mkie V moment in the beginning. A statement that gets Andy memorable.skateboarding has no rules. And I also love he did clearly legal tricks, that predate the "classic" set of tricks. And when one does not count (on no basis IMO), he just rips out another legal trick that wil lget him the win anyway. that is a fine game of skate!

There’s a big difference. Mike V said he’d only compete if he could do his tricks, and went up against a pro who was capable of doing some of them. Who also approved of said tricks going in. The biggest difference is, Mike V never won. So it was never a big deal. I always felt both Mike V’s battles were a bit “scripted”. Kind of like Maltos unsanctioned battle.

Normally id agree but considering BATB is a skill based competition, its kind of silly having certain tricks like the no complys or reverts when its supposed to be evenly based trick variety. Just my two cents though

@@everegenx the fact that these generic flip trick variations are what’s considered skill based or evenly based is self imposed and is holding skateboarding back. There’s a lot of tricks that probably haven’t been unlocked yet and we’re stuck thinking that skateboarding should be a certain specific way. People like Andy are what will push skateboarding further for everyone as a whole and the entire culture altogether.
