I knew as soon as it said 11 minutes we were in for a good one, I think this is the best Chris has skated in one of these in years, and Mark in most other match ups would of destroyed, who lands all the big heels and Laser flips on defence them tricks are basically a nightmare for consistency.
You know you've reached the the pinnacle of sportsmanship when you say " Hey you got this." to your competitor. Skating is on another level in every way.
@@sk8ordie548could say that about most sports that hold games though and you don't see that level of sportsmanship in most games. Soccer, Football and Baseball (for example) are known for cheaters and bad sportsmanship in nearly every game, whereas skating, that almost never seems to be the case. There may be less pressure in a game of skate but that doesn't change the attitude of the community as a whole compared to other sports
That game got me so hyped I feel like doing morally questionable activities like breaking into my neighbors house, toasting all their bread and putting it back in the bag
Me parece increible que Mark sea tan bueno patinando pero tan infravalorado a la vez, le hizo frente a una leyenda como lo es chris cole, de lo mejor que eh visto en muchos años, me encanta el Skate para toda la vida! Gracias!!
Indeed. I thought at first that it must be really stressful to defend against Cole. He looks so safe and versatile. Apparently, it's really stressful to have Cole in defense too, since he really doesn't show much weakness at all.
I’m in my late 30s and Suciu is up there as an all time favorite for me. Most my friends of similar age go with the classic guys, which I love as well. But I really love Mark’s style and aesthetic with his video parts.
@@eatassonthefirstdate the judge lol Felipe Gustavo my guy. I think he just made a bad call. He's done it before once or twice, judging can be hard but this was bad for sure. Personally I'm torn between miss and giving a redo
Cole got incredible form. Very practical and efficient movement with not much unnecessary flare. His upper body seems to always stay right above the board. You could just see how much experience and confidence he has watching how crisp his tricks are.
Just like they hang those signs with the BATB winners, the Berrics should start a wall of fame and give trophies to the legends that had given them years of content
Wow. That stretch on defense by Cole at the end was inspired. He summoned BATB2 Cole for this battle. Love both these skaters. Super excited BATB13 Edit: btw, really dig the new editing format. Having audio of the ref and Dane. Letting the clips breathe a little more.
That ending was crazy! I really thought Suciu was going to get him at the end but Cole is just way too good. Landed all those Suciu banger tricks bolts!
5:51 This must be the first time in BATB history when a missed trick has been counted as a make. Not even a redo, wtf? Mad respect to both skaters and this will be one of the best BABB games for sure, but the judging on this trick was a mistake. Maybe it's the angle, and maybe Felipe thought the back foot was in the air after it slipped off the board? But it def slipped onto the ground and made a push, exactly what happened on 6:25.
Plus even if judge didn't notice it then Mark obv must have felt his feet hit the ground, how about some sportsmanship? I was rooting for Cole super hard from this point on, really glad he won.
@@dans2833 It wasn't some minor toe drag or sth though, he put his foot on the ground and then pushed off it really awkward, almost losing his balance. Can't imagine you aren't aware of that, but who knows, you could be right.
Also epic. Emotional. It was a learning experience to see all the different ways to perform a trick. The best game to date. Seeing Suciu and Cole skate put a new spin on skateboarding for me and inspirational to know that the amazing energy flows gracefully forth into the future.
I like how Cole is wearing one of those ringer tees that Jamie said he hated when him and Cole were on the nine club but put out anyway cause the teamed loved them lol
I'm such an idiot and thought Mark Suciu would've won (lol) and then win the whole thing. LMFAO I'M TERRIBLE WITH BRACKET PREDICTIONS, but and wanted to try my first bracket ever. Hopefully my other selections don't go right away. EITHER WAY, I want all of these skaters to win and appreciate this contest forever OG. Thank you guys so much. It would be a dream come true to ever grace my presence in such a holy monument!
I’m not saying anything bad about anyone but it’s sad to see my skate idols less, skating has evolved so much it’s insane what tricks can be done now but being able to watch my favourite skaters T Puds, Chris Cole, Shane, nyjah, sheckler, P Rod Decenzo and Malto, Luan, competing against each other in the same contest was something special
Had no doubt in my mind that Chris Cole is in his best shape!! Awesome game, instantly one of the best BATBs. Respect to both Cole and Suciu, but wtf was that judging on nollie bs 360 heel at 5:51?
I don’t even get why they still read the rules if no one is going to enforce them. That and the bs360 kickflip that mark slid entirely on the ground should have both been a redo.

Yeah I feel like that is just guys who are too scared to say he's kind of pretentious douche, he's still better at skating than everyone in this comment thread LMAO
Mark was way too nice. He could’ve easily taken Chris out at any moment, but he kept going back to the standard ramp up tricks. Even refused to do his death blow early. If Mark was on the other side of the bracket this may have been the finals night game.
I was literally about to type this out pretty much word for word lol suciu is too much of a gentleman to try to win, he has insanely difficult tricks but refused to do any of them
I've seen him do fakie tre body varial in a game of skate. I appreciate the gentleman's play, but a few tricky ones would have been entertaining too. That said, he looked a bit nervous or something. Like how he kept landing on his board but then putting a foot down and struggling to land "simple" tricks on offense.
@@dans2833ris is 41 years old dude. To act like he didn’t go all out is ridiculous. He’s still great as seen here. But dude cmon. He definitely wasnt holding anything back whereas mark maybe was
That was an excellent match up. Would have liked to see BOTH of them further along in the contest, but that’s how it goes. Not that it was an issue here, but I am surprised there is no rule RE pivoted 360 ollie tricks - i.e. if your opponent fully rotates his / her ollie, then you must do the same; none of this 180 then pivot the rest nonsense.
Love the camera that is on Felipe.. Probably a DSLR right? WOuld be nice if they swapped the camcorders for that as well.. but i understand it would be more difficult.. maybe dont use a dslr at all then so theres no difference.. but then again who cares right
UNBELIEVABLE!! Now THIS is the type of battle between 2 TRUE professional skateboarders that we ALL want to see on BATB!!!!!!!!! THAT is what a game of skate should look like, with dudes of this caliber. UNREAL!! WOW.
yeah Suciu definitely needed a redo on that toe drag! I don’t agree with the bs 360 kickflip either. Chris pretty much did full 360 rotation and Mark did a bs 180 kickflip 180 revert/powerslide.
@@claysoggyfries welcome to BATB, where “Jamie” definitely does not ever mean Jamie Foy 😅 “My flatground game is not that good” - Jamie Foy @ BATB (actual quote)
the judging was plenty of bullshit. mark didn't get called to redo that toe drag, he powerslid two trucks that Cole clear AS day popped and what in there actual FCK was 5:51 ?????
Incredible, one of the best battles ever ever was Cole vs. Busenitz a while back and it was a nail-biter at Russian-novel length, too, this felt very similar and legends being legends always gets a standing ovation here, kudos to Chris and hell yeah all day to Suciu in everything he does, couldn't ask for a better kickoff to BATB '23!
Love these videos. I’m getting more into skateboarding recently so for those in my boat this is a great way to learn trick names and visually see what progress can do! Great video and skating!
That was an insane amount of trick inventory. Even in my heyday 25+ years ago I only had maybe 10 tricks in my arsenal and at best 5 I was really confident in landing.
