Right there with ya. I’m definitely not going to use a Chinese app on my devices. If I can’t control or setup a major component such as this at the unit level I wouldn’t use it.
I don't like the idea of having to use an app to set it up. I don't want to use an app to make changes or even to set up. I am with you on this one! Thanks for letting us know about the strange requirements of this controller.
App+Bluetooth as a feature that you can CHOOSE to use is attractive to some and maybe even considered cool. Not letting me even use the controller without, that’s not cool. I had everything setup for a full power rip too!
I was 👀 into this company a few weeks ago, thanks for letting everyone know that the controller requires an App to work with the most widely used battery. Unfortunate 😢 looks like a quality build too. ❤
I download the app before I left the house and when I get out in the middle of nowhere it worked fine I don't like all that tracking GPS either but midnights are great man is expensive
Glad to hear it worked for you my friend! I’ve been using the controller with a small panel to charge and maintain some of my backup lead acid batteries. It works as described. I’m going to update everyone soon about its performance on lead batteries. I’m weird about Apps. I’m just old school lol. Question, are you running it on lithium? How are the factory lithium settings?
Agreed! No need to reinvent the wheel. Add the APP/BT as an optional feature, not a requirement. The best performing charge controllers I own were designed and brought to market well over a decade ago. They will smoke anything that’s out there on the market today.
Having to use an app to change settings is a show stopper for me. Poor design choice for the manufacturer. Maybe they should stick to the Chinese market.
Yes! Buttons have worked just fine on charge controllers for 40+ years. Why upset the apple cart! I hope this isn’t the direction the industry is heading.
Most welcome! It works great on lead acid with its pre loaded setting. Tracks well, nice current control, floats properly. Hardware is good. User interface without App not so much!
