I love the way this worked out. I was watching going, "but... but... no trap?" and then you covered it. I had never heard of that other device but it looks like it would be perfect.
Very informative video as always! I was wondering why you went with a straight pipe, but I watched until the end and got the answer... 😎 All is well in my converted van/tiny house... 😊 🖤🦇
RV'rs have been using a waterless trap (HepvO) for years .. solve your smells and cold air problems .. also a right angle fitting might be more efficient at the bottom of the drain pipe
You're exactly right, I think we will need to have the entire contraption under the house (exposed) and might need to actively warm it in the winter (although we're also talking about skirting the house and venting warm air into it, which might keep such a drain-assembly from freezing).
Jake, sounds like a good plan. I watched a woman on YT yesterday re surviving winter somewhere in Canada in an RV trailer. Re skirting she said what worked for them was 1/2" of foam framed with aluminum drywall edging like j-moulding (see what works best to secure to your TH at the top and drive tent stake through holes into the earth at the bottom). She said other folks had tried the foam without the frame and it blew away. It may not be pretty (they painted theirs) but it worked very well at preventing freezeups. Good luck. Rich
