Clearly the Australian public dont take too kindly to the RX7 taking it up to the V8s back in 83 but when you consider what little the naturally aspirated Mazda had under its bonnet respect must be due. Allan Moffitt was a great competitor and while he may have lacked some charisma many of the other top drivers had, no one can deny his committment and determination as a race car driver to his craft and the development of his cars, not to mention his many contributions to the sport. He didnt deserve being booed by the crowd and l hope he doesnt leave this world thinking he wasnt admired. I have traditionally been a Holden man but can still appreciate the greatness in the other teams and drivers. Whilst booing is poor form, l guess l could understand the booing incident with the GTR Nissans. As Larry once said ' they are racing cars the rest of us are in touring cars'.
I can't say know enough about the history or subtleties of this series or era but I don't understand why Moffat was booed. Fantastic coverage from all! Wish we had something similar in the states.
