Bale's portrayal is the best imo because he represents hope in Gotham. I quote: "He's not the hero we deserved, but the hero we needed". Nolan puts so much emphasis around Batman being a true hero for his people while having to deal with his fears and his social life. I loved Pattinson's portrayal because I feel like Matt Reeves tried to make the same hope thing with Batman being a vigilante but turning into a saviour. He's only at one movie but I'm sure this Batman version could be the best at the end of a trilogy just like Bale's version.

Christian Bale is still my favorite Batman. Pattinson and Affleck are close though.

I personally really really enjoyed Pattinson’s version of Batman. The character looks great and I love the gritty take. Also love the fact that he somewhat seems like the most vulnerable version of Batman but also one of the most badass at the same time

When pattinson gets more of his movies people will finally see that he’s the best Batman, people are comparing everything when he’s had just one movie. But personally I already think he’s the best and I grew up with bale

I used to always put Keaton on top but when I really think about it. I might prefer the Keaton films but Christian bale is no1 for me

Not that Val Kilmer was bad, I just think he's the most forgettable While George was probably the worst, he's still iconic for how bad his movie was.

It looks like our rankings were pretty close. I feel like Pattinson & Affleck were the hardest to place. First and last place were SUPER easy though. :)

Bale nailed the Bruce Wayne, Bruce Wayne persona and the Batman persona. Excellent nuanced acting

For me Keaton is the best. I absolutely agree that he wasn't allowed a character arc. But for the most part that was a sign of the times. Super heroes and action stars typically were only given moments to show depth. And Keaton got those. I'm a James Bond fanatic. Until the Craig Era, Bond did not have a character arc. I think character arcs for superheroes are a modern convention. (And not always for the best). Keaton's Batman is the most disturbed. He conveys that well. So, he is my favorite. I haven't seen The Batman yet so can't comment on Pattinson. As for the rest 2. Bale 3. Affleck (never thought I'd rank him high) 4. West (for what it is) 5. Kilmer 6. Clooney

Michael Keaton is still many people's favourite Batman actor to date, mine included.

Bale is perfect Bruce Wayne and really good Batman, Affleck is good at both, Keaton and Pattinson are fantastic as Batman but are very different Bruce Waynes. Pattinson has the potential to be number 1 in future films and I really dug his weirdo loner emo Bruce more than I thought I would.

Pattinson is my new favorite batman but Bale probably beats him when you consider that he plays 3 different characters (Batman, Playboy Bruce, and the true Bruce Wayne). If Affleck had gotten a good movie he could have easily become my favorite Batman of ALL TIME. He has the look and the voice and DC did him such a disservice.

In my opinion Pattinson nailed everything about an early career Batman and Bruce and is the definitive Batman outside of the comics. I think Affleck was a good fit for a dark knight returns Batman but the story was just not there. If he had his own stories he would be higher up for me but Snyder took him too far with the guns and killing and ultimately ruined that version of the character for me. Bales Batman I find very safe and sometimes boring. I think no risks were taken with him and while his performance is great tdk trilogy feels very much like basic Batman to me.

I definitely agree with Clooney if he was in a different batman film he could have been one of the best

I seriously think Pattinson is easily the best Batman we have gotten He’s the Batman I have always wanted Someone filled with so much rage and anger and also does the detective work and uses his brain but he does have his flaws and fails at times and eventually realizes his rage and anger has inspired others to take extreme measures Then he knows he has to become something bigger and better than just vengeance he has to become a symbol of hope for the people of Gotham while continuing to be the symbol of fear for the criminal underbelly of Gotham And he will obviously have the well known play boy persona since people were starting to catch on at the end and the riddler figured out who he was Also not a single other Batman has ever made me feel the genuine fear that criminals must feel when they see that symbol in the sky or a dark quiet alley way

Glad I'm not alone in the sadness of not being able to see a Ben Affleck directed Batman movie starring Ben Affleck

Battinson Never thought I’d have a Batman in live action I like as much as Conroy, but I absolutely loved Pattinsons Batman and I’m hoping to see more. In general the Batman is one of the first movies I’ve watched in years that ends and my first reaction is “I want more of this.”

Haven't seen Batman and Robin 6. Val Kilmer - I liked his Batman, I liked his voice, but other than when he's telling off Robin he's way too flat as Bruce Wayne 5. Ben Affleck - I think Ben Affleck did a great job on both sides in BvS and really looks like Bruce Wayne to me but in BvS there's the indiscriminate killing thing and I never really rooted for Batman there, then almost all the anger and brooding is gone in Justice League (only seen the Snyder one) and he treats being Batman with the same amount of casualty as any other super hero. Wish there was a good solo movie 4. Michael Keaton - Good, his Bruce Wayne is very endearing and I don't know why, me like 3. Adam West - I love it, and it somehow actually still feels like Batman to me 2. Robert Pattinson - Fantastic Batman, imposing, badass, and feels well rounded in the suit. Feels like he could be a young Kevin Conroy Batman which is awesome. Is missing something without the public Bruce Wayne but I still found the exclusion interesting 1. Christian Bale - my first Batman, his playboy persona is THE Bruce Wayne playboy persona, he has the best separation between the three aspects of Bruce, and sells the brokeness and convinces you that without Batman something is missing more than any other. However he said he's disappointed with his performance and I can't put my finger on it but I see what he means.

ok so i just saw The Batman last night, and i can 100% say that Pattinson is my favorite, he fits the suit so well, i was super sceptical when he was announced but damn, ive since gone back to look at bale and man, the put on raspy voice the goofy cowl he just doesnt seem as amazing as i remember

Wow what a great list! Once they add a Bruce Wayne to Pattinsons batman I think he'll jump up a spot for sure.

Affleck The reason I have put Pattinson so high isn’t necessarily because I like “The Batman” more than the other films, but because I personally felt Pattinson has brought us one of the most deep characterizations of Bruce Wayne/Batman who is someone struggling from obvious past trauma whilst also trying to find his purpose in life. I know a lot of people are going to say he doesn’t have a wide range because there isn’t a difference between his Bruce Wayne and his Batman, but I think that was the entire purpose as he is still early on in his career and cannot decide on which personality he wants to focus on so he merges the two together to form a very reserved and quiet character. You can also see how his is way more introverted as Bruce but when he gets the costume he becomes embolden showing how what the Riddler said at the end of the film of how they all wear their masks to feel more powerful is true. I also believe Pattinson gave us so much with very little dialogue and mostly used motions and facial expressions to show emotion. A very powerful performance which I know a lot of people are going to brush aside as being “too 1 dimensional” but I think they are missing the point of what Pattinson is going for. Can’t wait to see what he does for the next films in the series!

I feel like Robert Patterson could be a good Bruce wayne but he didn’t do much with Bruce wayne and did more with batman.

I would put Clooney above Kilmer in the sense that if you put Clooney in Batman Forever (separate acting from the writing), Clooney would have been better.

Michael Keaton was my first live action verison I saw in theaters when I was 8 so he'll always be my personal fav. Kevin Conroy is the best animated version. # 2 Christian Bale, #3 Robert Pattison, #4 Ben Affleck, #5 Val Kilmer, #6 Adam West, and #7 George Clooney.

For me Batman The Movie 1966 is still on top. I grew up with it.

Batffleck for me is visually the best Batman hands down. Its funny how we all doubted him when the cast was announced but when I think of a Batman... He is the best and thus I agree that its a tragic that we aint seeing more of him as the character. Still, from a story perspective and from a quality stand, I do agree that Christopher Nolan's Batman movies are the best and Bale as Batman therefore is the most iconic.

I think my list would probably go: 5. Clooney 4. Kilmer 3. Affleck 2. Keaton 1. Bale/ Pattinson I honestly struggle picking between the top two they are great in my opinion and are the best versions of Batman to date.

I absolutely LOVED Pattinson as Batman but it would be hard for me to put him in the #2 or #1 spot just because I haven't seen enough of him yet. I'd be able to make a better call on it once the sequel to The Batman has been released.

I think Val Kilmer would have been a lot higher had Batman Forever kept some of the more interesting deleted scenes where the struggle between duality was clearly shown.

I just love all the actors, they each bring something different to the table!

Pattinson is my personal favorite! He is no playboy, but that is the point. He is only Batman. Basically he doesnt have his alter ego yet. And in the scene in the begining of the movie when he is looking at the newly orphaned kid. Pattinson's performance says so much with no dialouge. Sorry for my terible spelling btw. English was my second language.

Although I truly loved Bale and Keaton's Batman, Kilmer's portrayal got me hooked to cinematic Batman. It was the first version i watched as a kid and remains iconic.

I agree 100% about Michael Keaton. As a child in the 90s, besides Adam West the only live action Batman I had was Michael Keaton so he has a huge nostalgia factor for me. As I got older I watched the Nolan movies and started reading Batman comics. Going back to Batman & Batman Returns the nostalgia is still there, but that's not my Batman anymore.

I love how theres no duality in the batman. I feel its way mooore realistic from his era a d alot more interesting and im glad they didnt repeat things we saw before, how he is just obsessed and almost possessed by the batman.
