This is one of the episodes I have genuine memories of seeing on its original broadcast. The bits that stayed with me forever include Joker's man-eating clam (the earlier death trap), and Penguin's attempt to use his de-commissioned umbrella, right before this video segment starts. Also, though it's a super brief moment, Penguin using his umbrella to float gently to the ground convinced me you could probably do that in real life, ha ha.
@@thomasn3882 I can relate, since I tried the same thing many times (& when I was way older than five, sadly!). At least I had enough sense not to jump from a potentially dangerous height. I usually just damaged the umbrella, because it invariably ended up striking the ground when I instinctively tried to break my fall, ha ha.
Three parter combined with my two favorite villains makes for my favorite episode...plus one of the best fights ever filmed. Thanks for posting..God bless!
When Joker is going on about how Batman's crime-fighting days are over because they've seen the inside of the Bat-cave, yet Penguin reiterates how they don't know exactly where the Bat-cave is located, I always imagined hearing Aunt Harriet's voice calling down from atop the bat-poles: "Bruce??? Are you down there???" Batman: "Damn it, Aunt Harriet!" Robin: "Holy secret-identities blown!"
Here's to my childhood in the early 2000s i was poor and my family couldn't afford cable but im glad because shows like batman the andy Griffith show the Munsters the Adams family and i love lucy and many more old shows made my childhood now im 25 and i have nothing but fond memories for these shows
Batman must be awfully sure of himself in this scene. His secret identity, as well as his entire future as a crime fighter, is contingent upon him and Robin winning a 7 vs 2 fist fight. With stakes that high, one would think that he wouldn't just rely on his fists.
In episodes 13/14 of Season 1, it was just Mad Hatter and two other thugs, yet they gave Batman and Robin a more hard time than anyone else in the series. B&R had to put in some work that day.
Can you just imagine if Heath Ledger wouldn’t died and Nolan directed a fourth movie with Batman (Christian bale ) Robin ( Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and Catwomen (Anne Hathaway) fighting against The joker ( Heath Ledger) and the pinguin. Just can’t imagine how amazing would that be.
I always love this show, the one thing I wish they would have done different is the bottom part of Robin's costume, with the green waste part and the tan leg it always looks like he's running around in his underwear, would have been better just to make his pants completely green.
It was inspired by the comic book, where it was always colored purple, although it's softer & non-reflective on film, while dark & shiny on the printed page. Some reviewers deride more recent use of the purple top hat in comics or tv as a deliberate nod to the 1966 show, not realizing that the color choice predates the series. Easy mistake to make, since realistic versions of Batman characters means darker, less colorful garb. Penguin in modern media tends to wear a blue/black top hat, or is depicted as not wearing one at all. A lot of the costumes created for the tv show were pretty faithful to the source, making it a nice time capsule of Silver Age superhero design!
@ian mclellan - I AGREE with you. Unfortunately, there is still an amount of sexism and even misogyny somewhere in Hollywood and perhaps the rest of America, too. Very good comment, by the way!
@@robertpolanco1973 man y’all bitch to much it’s called Batman and Robin not Batman,Robin, and random chick for equality plus this was made in 1966 with Hollywood now being a breeding ground for woke bull shit
@@yoboylilcrispyk8137 - Oh, give me a goddamn break, you pathetic right-wing lunatic!
