Batman: Arkham is difficult and you'll thank me for saving you the slog of spin-offs and other media. Title Card - the4thsnake.dev... Final Timeline - the4thsnake.dev...
Corrections and Clarifications: Season of Infamy is part of the main Knight campaign, hence me not mentioning it. I didn't think I'd have to explain that, but I apparently do. Yes, I found the Origins Deathstroke fight boring and reptitive. If you like it, that's fine.
The red hood part black madk wasn’t his first victim he was killed after many villains i don’t remember all of them only ones i remember are clock king and killer moth
Mr. Pancake no it’s in arkham knight, if you play through the red hood story pack where he fights black mask and listen to the thugs they’ll go it’s him it’s the guy who killed clock king and so on and so forth
BadLuckGuy Maybe he should call him the Gregorian Calendar man, since that is the modern-day Roman Catholic calendar that we are going off of. I think before that was the Julian calendar... etc...
Origins is said to be 5 years before Asylum but with the firefighters info in Knight, the whole 10 years ago thing, it would have to be more like 7 or 8 years before
Could Catwoman not upset over Bruce's death because Bruce told her off screen and she knew what he was going to do (as we all know that Bruce wouldn't have actually killed himself in that final cut scene)?
All you had to do was set the system clock to holiday dates. When you look at the calendar it tells when each of those days occur. It takes forever and doesn't make sense in the timeline. So what each holiday Batman vists him for a year then he leaves? I guess that explains why in Harley Quinn's revenge and early Knight why characters say Batman hasn't appeared much. Since the Joker's death.
my biggest problem with the riddler trophies in city was one or 2 i missed in a story segment and when i went back in the building to get them it was different and i trapped myself in there. not sure if i was missing an alternate route or if it's just really hard to go back and get them. i think i may have weaseled my way out of there but it was very awkward, had to create a platform on the water under a doorway and get on it and under the the opening before the current pushed it back.
Carter-Dono exactly but this is a different universe so of course their going to switch things up but still tho should have just had Jason instead of Tim especially since Tim wouldn’t have become robin until a few months later
Seebarino i remember when I first played it thinking how hard would it be to just give Tim a new suit, he goes from his knight suit to his arkham city suit and back to the knight suit
Alex Neve don’t mean to start an argument here but Arkham knight tank edition is terrible. And yeah origins is really underrated it’s got some of the best boss fights
The "Origins is 5 years before Asylum" bit is originally from Eric Holmes, Origins' director, apparently stated during a presentation at E3 or Comic-Con. He also confirmed on his twitter (@ericholmeslive, I just looked it up myself) that Bruce is 28 by the time of Origins. However, I recall that by the time Knight came out, either he or one of the Origins writers backpedaled and said it was a decade before Knight, presumably as a retcon since Knight says it's 10 years after Origins, and that is also what Sefton Hill, the director of all the other games seems to go by.
well hes human his body would give out eventually no matter how much he trains as well as all the damage his body has taken over the years he would have had to stop anyway probably not to long after arkham knight seeing as calendar man almost killed him and he went through a lot of physical abuse in the span of an entire night with no rest in between and don't forget his mind either with all that fear toxin that he inhaled without losing it
dobe2180 True, but I think given the amount of stories, they should at least give him a 20 year span. 10 years can go by very fast, I am older so I know. Time only seems long when you are younger.
8:40 It's actually explained that these hallucinations happen because Batman only took a half dosage of the cure (Saving the other half for Joker) and thus wasn't completely healed.
Convoluted is not good enough of a word to describe this shit. This is pretty insane. I can easily see someone's mind crash trying to put this together. I wouldn't blame you if you tried to become the Joker after this.
I enlisted fifteen physicists (if by enlisted you mean kidnapped), had 19 brain aneurisms and wrote thirteen metres worth of maths and timeline calculations, and I'm still no closer to understanding this than before I began, so I guess that was a waste of 20 years of my life, "Um... Guys? You can go now!" "Oh zank ze lort!"
Batman isn't seeing visions of the Joker because of the sickness. It's because Batman was introduced to Scarecrows more potent fear toxin and hes seeing his worst fear haunt him. I.e. the Joker returning to life, or worse, Batman BECOMING the Joker. Edit: Holy shit i did not know this got so many likes, i wrote this 2 years ago and forgot about it. Thank you all so much
+DarkRavenWolf50 While that makes sense for Batman, it doesn't explain why the other 4 people (Johnny Charisma, that girl, the black boxer and the old man) started/turned into Joker clones.
DarkRavenWolf50 that’s what I thought, but I’m pretty sure in the in Arkham Knight it’s hinted that the guns on the new bat mobile were added because the Joker pushed him to add it.
Out of this entire mess of a story, the only thing that I honestly really hate is that Barb and Tim are a thing. I just... ugh. It's supposed to be Dick and Barb!
Julian Michaelson yeah I think Jason was getting tortured because in Arkham knight Jason told Batman that he left him to be tortured in the abandoned wing in Arkham asylum and if you go back to the abandoned wing in Arkham asylum you will see a wheelchair and similar floor that look the same from the scenes in Arkham knight
@@aesie1229 Batman never reaches the abandoned wing in that game does he? After reading Arkham Knight Genesis, I always have a strange feeling when I play Arkham Asylum now, since I know Jason is there for the events of the game.
You are right they did retcon the story because now its an 8 year gap between Origins and Asylum, which gives much more possibilities and a realistic time frame.
I was thinking that the Arkham Knight was Jason Todd but I did not want to believe it. But when they showed the torture scenes then they pretty much confirmed that it was Jason. Then at the reveal, Batman's like "Who are you?" While everyone else knows. It's not good writing if the player knows who the masked person is before the protagonist.
Prefer the Joker as the young punk who took them out, or even some hitman hired by the rich elite of the court of owls (aka the Bohemian Grove politicians) to take out the Waynes.
@@ezj8262 nah i prefer joseph chillian as the murderer. joker is a bad enough guy, he doesn't need to have that deep a connection to bruce. also, the fact that it was just a rando dude not hired by anyone puts into perspective the crime problem that gotham had. no one is safe from a random mugging. not even the biggest family
@@macafromthewired The court of owls gives a deeper dynamic to the storyline. Pledging loyalties and having power is part of Freemasonry. Thomas Wayne being an elitist without being part of the elite, would hardly be fathomable. It would be interesting, if Bruce's path of being a detective led him to the truth that his parent's murder was not just something random. Plenty of storylines, show him initially blaming himself -- perhaps because he begged his parents to go see the new Zorro movie, and they wouldn't have been there if it weren't for him. He has guilt, and feels like he should keep his promise to his parents -- like he owes them. He feels responsible for their deaths... even in the movie ... Batman Forever ... he says "I killed them," which Alfred questions him about, and Bruce doesn't answer - but looks away. If you've watched the Animated movies that feature the Court of Owls, you will see that it is an interesting route to go in. The storyline of Joe Chill, stops in its tracks, but not with the Court of Owls. I also recommend watching the storyline for the game Batman The Telltale Series, it's a very interesting and rational twist - though I personally wouldn't choose to make Thomas Wayne part of the bad element - but merely a victim of the Court of Owls, who was murdered because he wouldn't let them do whatever they wanted with his company, and perhaps he even had plans of exposing them. Plenty of other people like JFK after his secret societies speech was assassinated. Even Abraham Lincoln was murdered by a Jesuit. When you don't go along with the agendas, you end up being a target.
Uncivil Society but if joker is the killer then that makes the whole timeline a complete cliche. Not to mention that joe chill was the first in the comic books and in the whole DC universe to kill Bruce Wayne’s parents.
Batman Arkham origins was the game that got me into the series.I had become very interested in comic culture and my brother game me his old Batman Arkham origins game.I loved it and it in the end got me more interested comic culture.Im thankful for it and I’m glad it’s considered canon
“Origins is set five years before Asylum.” Make that eight years, Knight says Origins was ten years before it and Asylum was two years before it. Makes way more sense if you ignore the expanded universe
The4thSnake actually I did, but I just go by the games. Arkham Asylum said Frank Boles has been working at Arkham for eight years. Hard to do if it wasn’t open that long
The next game is rumored to be set 3 years after origins, will it really be set only 2 before asylum? I totally forgot that asylum established how long Frank Boles worked at Arkham. Knight was the first time a Rocksteady game acknowledged origins, not sure where this 5 year gap came from to be "retconned"
Though I like the game, I honestly believe Origins was the definitive reason why the Arkham timeline was ruined. There are millions of inconsistencies with it and all the other games and supplementary material, I’d say Origins isn’t canon with the timeline at all, but Knight made it canon with Deathstroke and Firefly, I feel like Rocksteady was trying to be nice to WB Montreal in a way saying “oh, don’t worry guys, Origins is canon and we’ll mention the events of that game a few times in Knight” but from doing that, they created more inconsistencies. For example, Firefly mentions in Knight that him and Batman haven’t fought since the events in Origins, even though in a character bio for Firefly in both Asylum and City, they state Batman and Firefly have fought multiple times. The thing is, I absolutely love the Arkham franchise, I love the lore, gameplay, and stories. I actually really like Knight, even though a lot of people were disappointed with it, but yeah, mostly because of Origins and other comics, the timeline is really screwed up.
The Arkham Asylum bios are based on the comic versions of the characters though not the Arkham ones. That's why stuff like Hugo Strange fighting Batman for years is in the Strange bio even though Arkham City was the first and only time they met. The Asylum Hush bio also says him and Batman have fought for years but Hush's Identity Thief killings in Arkham City are the first time Bruce comes across him. In the Arkhamverse it's established that Batman's fought the likes of Joker, Two Face, Penguin, Riddler, Scarecrow, Ivy, Ra's, Harley, Bane and The Mad Hatter for years while some like Hush, Strange, Professor Pyg, Deacon Blackfire, Anarky and so on are encountered for the first time.
Ungreatful Duck I agree that AK is shit, but Steam achievement progress is a terrible way to measure Arkham Knight’s overall success. Besides the fact that PC is only 1 platform and Origins has been out for longer than AK, Arkham Knight launched as a completely broken mess on PC (with some of it’s major faults still existing to this day), and it took Rocksteady ages to fix said broken mess, which resulted in a shit tonne of players giving up on or getting refunds for AK. Origins was quite broken on launch too, but AK really outdid it by a long way.
The court of Owls would be a great story but because of the constant Joker wank fest won't happen also it could introduce his brother Thomas Wayne Jr. aka Lincoln Monarch. He would have been a better character to have instead of Jason Todd.
The way they had Hush in City made it seem as though he was the next person to take down after the joker. But they went with Scarecrow and he was meh in Knight.
I know, right! As I said, you can tell Knight has a different writer because Hush's actual role in Knight is fucking weak. That's why when I made my reimagining of Knight, Hush is the Knight and Scarecrow is his henchman.
Shit, I would have loved seeing Lincoln March being Arkham Knight. Owlman seems more a better fit than Red Hood. It would've been better if they were working together. A long-lost brother and a thought-to-be-dead sidekick. Smells like a good story to me.
Lincoln March was not actually his brother. Besides, Jason Todd is one of batman's greatest failures. It was a good idea to include him. The mystery was misguided, but it was the best choice to include him.
Sweg yo Sweg they literally just repeated one of the most important parts of the boss fight and stole it from the ras al ghul boss fight in Arkham city
You’re the only person I’ve ever heard call the Deathstroke boss fight “shit.” It’s actually regarded as one of the best in the series by the community. You’re right though.. Origins is extremely underrated. I hope we get Origins 2 in the near future.
Cheap Tactics a boss fight doesn’t have to be hard to be good. It was the only time in the arkhamverse where we got to fight an opponent that could actually fight properly. The fight felt even through out and it really felt like fighting a worthy opponent. Gameplay wise sure it’s nothing special but the way the fight felt was amazing and why it’s one of my faves.
@@thewerewolff7248 It may have been to you, but after the third time all the animations repeated themselves I was like "ok, we can be done now". And playing on hard only means that he has more health, so the fight keeps going and you've already cycled through all the animations several times and it's just not entertaining anymore.
"Master Bruce, I've been through the candidates for your various superhero costume designs..." "Batsuit, Alfred. It's a Batsuit. What's your recommendation?" "This one, sir. Flexible, and incredibly durable. Not only that but darkly imposing. Should strike fear into the heart of Gotham's underworld." "Nice. What's with this mouthpiece though?" "Oh, that? Hmm. I know it ruins the look somewhat, but it satisfies the one major drawback to this design." "I have to be able to do my voice, Alfred. That's key to the intimidation factor. So what do we lose without it?" "Err... poison resistance. Unlikely, I know! But I thought it prudent to cover all..." "..." "Shall I at least keep the design documents, sir? In case one or more of these costumed miscreants should ever..." "..." "As you wish."
And decades later as Bruce is making the fully-cowled Batman Beyond costume, he feels like the ghost of Alfred is just smirking smugly at him from beyond the grave. "If you were here, Alfred, I know you'd be saying I told you so."
@@The4thSnakethis isn't superhero comics. This is a superhero video game franchise. This is an excuse I detest. Superhero comics are actually really good with continuity of you think about just how expansive the universes are - there are thousands of comics within the DC universe, multiple titles headed by different creative teams which release monthly issues. Its an insanely difficult task to maintain cohesion. There's almost 80 years of Batman comic history with multiple timelines, cosmic events and retcons. The Arkham Franchise has 3 Rocksteady games as well as comic tie ins, a VR game made by the same studio, two games for mobile platforms, a Mobile game made by Armature and movie made by WB Animation. It has no excuse for the massive continuity problems. Just like the X Men Film Franchise.
Hey, uh, I just wanted to apologize for calling you out over at that Mortal Kombat video I can't find. Personal Messages are gone from RU-vid now so this is the best I can do to contact you. You do hard work and it's appreciated
One thing I don’t get, if multiplayer is after the main campaign of Origins, then how is Bane still the same? Because at the end he injects TN-1 and becomes the Bane we see in Asylum and City, so how has he gone back to normal?
I love the games but they really really really condensed the timelines too much. AO should have been roughly 8-9 years before AA, AC should have been 2.5 years, after AA, and AK should have been another 2 years on. That would have given Dick time to have been robin, stop, being Robin, be replaced by Jason, have Jason be kidnapped, get Barbra as BG sometime in the 8 years, and have him with with Tim and have her and time be about the same age, perhaps a year younger than Jason. It just all was so condensed that it is a little too much to suspend disbelief. MO only....
@@subairali8075 Arkham Origins is the best in the series Story wise. Would have been better if the glitches were fixed. It is far from being the worst in the series. The worst in the series was Arkham Knight. That game was disappointing as all hell and super mediocre. Arkham Knight was shit.
KhaosCorp999 origins is definitely bottom of the series story wise (in contention with knight on that one) had a bland/boring open world. And for every good boss battle like Deathstroke you have a equally disappointing one like electrocutioner. For god sake one of the assassins only show up in the side mission (Shiva isn’t even in the main story!). Arkham origins is definitely underrated and a great game but compared to the high standards of the series it’s the worst one.
@@subairali8075 Origins has the best story hands down. Asylum is second City is third and Knight is dead last, a missed opportunity. The way Origins handled the assassins was fine to me. Making you search for some of them was a good idea. Best game the way it played I will say was City. Origins had too many bugs. Knight was meh. didnt feel as good gameplay wise as City felt.
The story was so much more fun when it was just the first game. Arkham Asylum was so ambiguous in Batman's career that it could very well take place DURING the mainline comics or something. Just another night of Batman taking Joker to Arkham Asylum. It doesn't have to tie anything to the future or past or whatever. It's just another day in Batman's life. That's what I think makes it work. This was such a missed opportunity with Arkham Origins, in my opinion. They could have also set that during anytime in Batman's life. Just be as creative as it can be, like Asylum was! But instead it tried to tie itself in with the story of Asylum and be an origin story to Batman's career overall. It just doesn't feel necessary. The other tie-in media seem completely pointless. I'm sure they're fine stories in their own rights, but it seems like they exist solely to be logically consistent with the main Arkham games. That's just not compelling storytelling to me. The vagueness of Asylum's plot in the history of Batman is what makes it work, just like a random issue of the comic works. By trying to fill in gaps...all this media is doing is telling me there are gaps. Not dissing the video, though. It's fun!
It's a crime that you don't already have 100k subs SMH BRO You literally make videos about so many different things that I'm interested in if I were a youtuber I'd do a shtick pretty similar to yours so your like a dream content creator for me keep up the videos man they're great for killing my time !

@@clark5317 the graphics are not good at all. What should be something like the last of us remastered is not what we got at all. The dark grim colors are way over saturated. And asylum road to Arkham was dubed bright night. It really takes away from the tone of the game. And Batman's mouth is really fucked up. They took what was a normal mouth and gabe him a tan and doubled the size of his mouth and turned it into a froun. Over all the road to arkham looks like an over saturated rubber mess. Just go to google images or watch comparison videos.
@@sethgunther5514 The graphics are overall better than the original. They just suck in some places, and the problem is mostly a coloring issue. Otherwise, they are definitely more realistic.
So rare to see somebody else who has actually been exposed to all the minor stories and games. Great summary! By the way you missed the Arkham Knight novelization but it’s harder to get through than Riddler’s Gambit and has its own continuity issues as it just relates to the main games. Probably just to discount it as an “alternate telling” of the Knight story.
I just wish they didn’t call it Arkham knight. Maybe like Arkham last night or something and make the Jason character not called the Arkham knight. Maybe something else because why would a international merc name himself after an asylum. I mean he he the Arkham asylum logo on him
I’ve never read a single Batman comic in my entire life and it was so beyond obvious that Jason Todd was the Arkham Knight. I don’t understand how anyone at Rocksteady thought that would be ok
Because it makes sense story - wise. I mean that's why everyone guessed it, because it makes sense why and how he would be arkham knight. Predictable =/= bad
Asylum and City are the only games that line up properly. The others just contradict everything story wise. Origins and Knight are good but they don't tie in to the other games well at all.
Also Calendar Man is a badass in some comics, he once crippled the entirety of Gotham following the beginning of the new millennium with him completely losing his mind.
I honestly really don’t think the comics are canon, I only see them as a way to scam Arkham fans for their money and milk some some more revenue out of this franchise
None of those Arkham Unhinged comics and graphic novels (like the one that gave you the AK Batman Incorporated code and the one where Harley saves Joker from being executed by security guards and get into Arkham City via the sewers) are canon. They simply can't be. They conflict with a lot of other stuff like Tim's appearance in Matter of Family, Lucius losing a finger and the asylum getting destroyed by explosives etc...
I'll save you all the trouble: Arkham Asylum, City and Knight are canon...Origins is not. Harley's Arkham designs are excellent and far better than the New 52 junk. The comics are great. Origins is a continuity destroying pile of garbage...and even Rocksteady thinks so. Assault on Arkham is infinitely better than Suicide Squad. Harley has beat Nightwing before. The comics are still great and this user still can't understand art. Calendar Man is a bigger threat in the Arkhamverse. Duh. This video is long and obnoxious. You're welcome.
