I like the parallels with the Dark Knight Rises. In that, Batman died so that Bruce Wayne could truly live. In Arkham Knight, Bruce Wayne died so that Batman could truly live.
bruce wayne didnt die in arkham knight people had to think that he died if you listen to the last lines of bruce and alfred wel bruce wouldnt kill alfred so and btw nightmare batman comes out of fear like the game was pretty much all about the vilian at the end is the one that killed bruce his parents so when he found out bruce is batman hes afraid and thats why he sees nightmare batman just like bruce his fear is the joker
The Ridller trophies are the biggest flaw of the game, they've been a huge waste of time throughout the Batman series. Someone should make a complaint to Rocksteady studios, lamo.

Bruce didn't kill himself cause if that were the case, the explosion would've killed Alfred as well and he isn't the type of person to put others in danger. He faked his death and reassumed his position as Batman seeing as to how no one would know who he is once again. The final scene probably meant that he is using a sort of modified fear toxin that could affect the criminals, or that the criminals, after absorbing the cranes toxin, now fear batman. so whenever they saw batman, the toxin took over and made them see this scary image of him. It will only affect the criminals since only they were exposed. Still, Bruce didn't die.

Do people even doubt this? When they talked about activating the Batfall protocol to protect everyone he knew, it was pretty obvious that he'd feign his death. There's no other way around it, and Bruce wouldn't commit suicide (and he MOST DEFINITELY wouldn't do it if he had to take Alfred with him).
Or maybe it's Azrael who became Batman's successor, in-game you can make Azrael refuse to try to kill Batman, and become his friend. Also, if i recall correctly in the knightfall comicbook arc it was Azrael who replaced Bruce as Batman after Bane broke his back. While in the meantime Bruce is finally enjoyng his billion on some tropical island, kinda like we saw in "The dark Knight rises" movie.

I think Jason Griffith would make a good Batman. He voiced Shadow the Hedgehog back in the 2000s and did a Phenomenal job. I think he could fit the role as the serious crime-fighting detective.

It's very heartbreaking especially when he died just 20 days away from his birthday. I'm definitely gonna play this game and watch the animated series as tribute when the time comes on his birthday.
Gotham believes that Batman & Bruce Wayne are dead. Bruce is still alive & uses the fear toxin as a new way to scare criminals & keep Gotham safe as "Nightmare Batman".
I don't think he's using fear toxin. I think they were already exposed to it. Remember, all of the normal citizens were evacuated at the beginning of the game, so only the criminals stayed behind. So when the cloudburst scenario happened, literally every single criminal in Gotham got exposed to the fear toxin. And it was mentioned that the fear toxin can have long-lasting psychological effects (especially this new version of it), which means that all of the criminals of Gotham will likely be haunted by vivid, nightmarish hallucinations of Batman for the rest of their lives, every time they try to commit a crime.
The joker took over Bruce's body and Bruce was gone, and when joker (in Bruce's body) got injected with the fear gas, joker witnesses his fear of being forgotten and loosing to batman, that's when batman takes over the body and joker's forgotten.

To save Gotham, you wouldn't even need to beat Riddler. I mean, he's hiding in a hole, until Batman finds all his shit, right? So if Batman just doesn't, the worst that would happen is that Gotham is plagued by annoying Riddler announcements taunting a Batman that is no longer there. He'd still be in his hole waiting for Batman to collect his shit.

I just finished the game with Knightfall Protocol and you can either defeat Deathstroke or Riddler and it will let you do the Knightfall Protocol. I think Rocksteady realized people aren't going to want to do all those Riddler stuff so they gave you the option

The story of barman and also the type of hero he is kind of a darker hero than most and also the other characters like his main villain the joker who is a fantastic concept and Gotham city as well. All of it just adds to a way cooler and less perfect world. That's why I love batman so much and I think it is by a land slide the best franchise.

Simple explanation to EVERYTHING. • scarecrow injects Bruce with fear toxin, Bruce's biggest fear is joker, becoming like him, becoming a killer. hence where u shoot up people and ruin Gotham as joker, and u come back to scarecrow as joker as Bruce has now become him (Bruce Wayne is gone now) • scarecrow injects him (now joker mentality) again and so we're taken to jokers biggest fear, which is being forgotten and batman, hence the empty funeral and batman statues he can't get away from, joker now becomes his fear; batman • scarecrow injects batman with the fear toxin, but batman has no fear, he is a myth, a legendary fearless hero, hence why he still talks as batman and not Bruce for the rest of the game, Bruce is gone, it's just batman now • (this part is up to opinion) I like to believe that batman faked the death of bruce Wayne to protect his family and to allow batman to carry out his mission fully and not be held back by Bruce, and that's who we see at the end, using a version of the fear toxin • or it was a metaphor at the end to symbolise that batman is back either with a robin as batman or a Bruce Wayne batman that faked his death :), late to the game but what a game it is

Easter Egg: In Arkham City when you talk to the calender man and exhaust his dialogue at one point you will hear him say "I was there in the beginning and I will be there in the end" At @1:52 you can see calender man in the background bald head guy with the same head tattoo.
You know, that actually sounds like what Joe Chill, the guy who sometimes is the one who killed Bruce's folks, depending on continuity, said in that one Gaiman Batman from the mid 2000's. Something like "Whatever Happened to the Caped Crusader?" He showed up at Bruce's funeral and said, and I don't know the quote, but "I was here for his birth, it's only fitting I should be here for his death."

Azerael isn't the new batman. Why would Bruce kill himself and Alfred? He faked his death and protected Gotham from the shadows as Bruce using a modified fear toxin. That "new batman" in Knightfall was the same as the one that was in scarecrows hallucination after batman gave him the fear toxin. Also while you talk to penguin as you drive him back to GCPD, he asks something like "how will you protect Gotham now that everyone knows your identity?" and batman replies with "you'll see" Implying that HE will protect Gotham, not anyone else.
when scarecrow released his feartoxin into Gotham, only the criminals in the city breathed that gas. what if that toxin left a permanent effect in their mind to fearing the batman, even in his absence.
I tear up when I hear Bruce say "It's the only way to protect them" and then I think about who's them: Robin Barbara Jim Dick Jason Selina Knowing that Batman is willing to die for his family! Now that is a true sacrifice and a heroic way to go out
After seeing how Rocksteady BRUTALLY did Batman dirty by stupidly killing him off like a fucking dog, I came back to watch this scene to rinse my eyes and remind me how this ending is THE ONLY true ending of the Arkham series. What Rocksteady did in the latest game they released today for early access is not forgivable. We've all been playing with the same guy for literally 15 years, and they gave us the absolute worst stupidest send off for Conroy's LAST performance as Batman. Fucking unbelievable.
And the original people who was in Rocksteady to finish the Arkham trilogy even left and replaced by woke people who is still fangirling of Harley Quinn! I'd rather have Batman in that game got eaten by King Shark, I know that sounds ridicullous but it's better than getting shot by Harley, right? But they also make King Shark look softer in that game!

I beat Arkham Asylum 100% because those riddles were fun and quick to solve. Same with Arkham City, riddles were fun to find and actually had stakes. Arkham Knight, tho? Fuck that shit. Already saved Catwoman so Rocksteady needs to calm their Ubisoft open world mechanics the fuck down.
This is the proper ending to the Arkham Verse. This is how Batman died. Nothing else happened after this. Nothing. That includes a certain Task Force X game we will not talk about. Nothing else happened. Just leave it at that.

The Batman we see at the end is Bruce. Pause at exactly 5:12 you see a image of the person clearly, it is Bruce still using a modified Fear Toxin to make himself appear as a demon. SPOILERS!!!!! After you save Catwoman from Riddler and catch him Batman says the following when asked if she will see him again " No- No one will. Gotham needs something more, something worse... to defend her. She needs a new myth, a new legend more powerful then I can be right now. A legend that can only rise from the ashes of Batman. " Meaning that The Knightfall protocool was designed to expose himself as Batman then "die" in public and a few weeks later that thing more powerful will rise from the ashes of Batman. Bruce is now Batman Full time and uses a modified version of Scarecrow's fear toxin to make himself appear as if he is a demon while not killing the individual(in some other media's Batman has used a modified form of the Fear Toxin, it still kept it's effect but wasn't lethal
djghostface292 no one knows who it is. I'd guess it's Todd because whether azrael is free or not is determinant on player choice. And utilizing fear toxin seems like something Todd would do. I don't really see azrael or Bruce Wayne doing that.
That game isn't cannon despite what they say. It's actually literally impossible for it to be cannon. Deadshot for one isn't black, you literally see him standing right in front of you in arkham city and he's a white dude with a totally different build.
@ Evan Pan-Bao Yes. I am sure. 100% of the riddles and all side missions (if you don't do 100% then you don't get the Gordon speech). Trust me. Also, scan the Batmobile and Cawoman's collar for two riddles. Those were the ones that stumped me.

Bruce Wayne There are only really two. There's the main ending, the Knightfall Ending (which is expanded on at 100%). The other ending is a failstate when failing to protect Gotham PD.
Spends an entire night going through extreme hardships and challenges, escaped death multiple times, survives an entire army set on trying to kill him, defeats every threat that was trying to take Gotham down. But 241 trophies? That, is where I draw the line.

I'm just going to make my headcanon that everything that happens in that game is merely a drugged up dream Harley must be having.. Rocksteady must really hate the Justice league..and i'd rather it be in just some random universe batman (i loathe the multiverse concept btw) over the Arham Knight batman..especially with an ending like this one which pretty much yells in your face that that series was done and honestly it was done right, Rocksteady just does what the trend is with "modern" devs these days and bending over backwards to please lunatic investors that demand this kind of trash for whatever reason despite it's going to be hated by pretty much any fan of the OG heroes.
The background music in this scene is just perfect. It really hammers home the fact that these are both Bruce Wayne AND Batman's final moments. It honestly brings a tear to my eye.

Its Batman + low potency fear gas to reinstall the fear he used to for the criminals of Gotham, plus the added fear since he's now believed to be dead. He had to evolve if he wanted to achieve the goal of striking fear into the hearts of anyone thinking of comiting a crime in gotham

243 cancerous and painfully unfun riddler puzzles to not only fight and defeat the riddler but to get the ending of the game. This isn't just a quick 5 second scene like in mass effect when Shepard breathes under a pile of rubble. It's the literal fucking ending to the game. I would of been fine with doing all the other tedious shit too, I did most of it, but I'd rather die then spend hours and hours collecting those riddles. Shame the vast majority of players never got to see the full ending. Awful decision from the devs.

I really hate stuff like this. A 100% run is supposed to be completely optional. You shouldn't have to do a 100% run just to see the goddamn ending to the main story. This scene should have been shown upon finishing the final mission, regardless of the percentage of completion.
***** Yes actually.....I'm not against a cool bonus at the end of a 100% run, but it's kind of bullshit to sell the game on the question of whether Batman lives or dies, and then refuse to answer that question unless the player literally does EVERYTHING in the game. The conclusion to the story should be a given upon beating the final mission, not a bonus that you have to unlock.

That much is obvious, but that scene showing the current state of the City and the arrival of a new Batman is still a part of the ending, and provides that bit of finality to the entire story. In the other ending where you just see the bat symbol and then hear "This is how it happened. This is how the Batman died" followed by a cut to black, its obvious that you aren't seeing the full ending. The game doesn't finish, it just stops.
The kid and his parents are just random people, but they represent the innocents that are in danger now that criminals think Batman is dead. With no threat of Batman to stop them they will rob and kill like before Batman was around, resulting in many more orphans just like Bruce . Then the "new" Batman using some modified fear toxin appears, showing that Batman isn't dead and the criminals can't commit their crimes without fear. The "new" Batman had to come around as 1. I love the symbolism of this ending (a.k.a. the ONLY ending of the franchise): Batman saves two parents. That little kid won't see his parents killed in front of his eyes. He won't be traumatized forever, unlike Bruce. Batman finally broke the cycle. Batman won.
