and Brainiac got outsmarted by Lex Luthor in Red Son. Who's Superman's archnemesis. Also what good is wisdom of Solomon when it's barely ever useful in the comics? Nearly every foe Batman had faced are genius compared to any rogue-galleries and with Super-strength on both sides the playing field is just as equal, if not in Devastator's favor. Beating Devastator would mostly take thinking as tactical as Batman and not a forward fight.
KillerArmyStyle Superman is pretty easy to outsmart, especially this version who is like comics ,explained said, emotional and less rational. Not only that but Batman is probably a better fighter then new 52 Superman in terms of technique, Superman just has too much power for those techniques to work. Now that they are on a even playing field, Batman should be able to beat Superman
Honestly, I feel like some version of Injustice: Gods Among Us exists down in the Dark Multiverse, since it's technically a nightmare scenario, and that's what the Dark Multiverse is all about.
@@praveenvijeyakumar741 Am I the only one who wants to see The Batman Who Laughs and his partners (Like Doomsday Batman) as the main villains of Injustice 3 (The Final Boss Of That Games Story Mode)? If Not them. Then I want to see Anti Monitor as the main big bad threat in Injustice 3.
@@dylansmith5206 If The Batman Who Laughs showed up in the Injustice universe, I guarantee that he'd kill everyone in less than a month. After all, in TBWL's universe, he killed off The Justice League for no other reason that because he could. In fact, now that I think about it, if TBWL showed up in the Injustice universe, he'd probably kill everyone except for Superman, then make Superman his mind-controlled slave or something (A Superman Who Laughs?), like a reverse of the bad ending of Injustice 2.
He turned his body into a weapon and hardened his heart to others. Even to hope. Definitely nothing like our Batman. And he did it all at the cost of never being able to reach his back ever again.
This was an easy guess for me. A doomsday Batman, is so very terrifying. Like legit scary. Honestly, all of these Batmen are scary. Killing Machine was the scariest to me at simply because the Human side of Batman was the only thing that didn't make him a walking horror movie. But Devastator? What are you going to do?
"See, down in our realm, worlds are created by all you people up here. You fear or hope for something, and it births a world. They tell us we're your Bruce's great fears come to life. Like say, oh, I don't know, one day you get out of control and he experiments with the Doomsday Virus to stop you and destroys the planet? The thing is, each of us has killed you - all of you - on our worlds. We cross the lines he's scared to. Which actually begs the questions... Are we really his fears? Or are we his desires? Food for thought."
You forgot to mention that IMMEDIATELY after the Devastator breathed Kryptonite onto Superman, some crazy spines burst out of his chest and killed him instantly. That's OP.
RemixZX correct me if I'm wrong but can't doomsday emit those spikes out of his body through the ground and into stuff? Because it was pretty sure that it looked like a whole bunch of spikes just burst out of the ground in the next frame
Rob, this idea of the “Doomsday Virus” comes out of a story in the New 52 I believe is called “Superman Doom” where the New 52 Superman was exposed to said virus...
He already made a video on that comic, and I’m guessing he didn’t mention it because it wasn’t important enough to the story at large. Also Devastator Batman is from a different universe than Earth prime so the Doomsday Virus in his case may be entirely separate from the doomsday virus your talking about.
Balloushop13 First of all, I don’t think he covered it and for good reason, Comicstorian did though from where I’m looking, and second they called The Devastators condition not a matter of DNA Splicing but a virus in the Dark Knights Metal comic I believe in issue 3 the Batman who laughs called it a virus especially with all of metropolis turning into Doomsday, there’s no other word besides plague or virus to describe The Devastator and of what’s happening in metropolis...
I'm not sure if I remember clearly or I'm just assuming at this point. But if I recall, when I played DCUO, I remember fighting Doomsday as well as many others in Smallville who were infected with the Doomsday virus. (This is just a little tid-bit just because. Doesn't have anything to do with Metal or Devastator but I just wanted to show another time when the concept was used)
I've been waiting for this tie-in to drop and for Rob to cover it, also it's bad enough Doomsday is already Op as shit, now there a Batman version of him, he can practically singlehandedly take out the positive DC universe by himself if he wanted.
Batman with prep time alone is beyond Omega level... Now that he has a (possibly enhanced) version of Doomsday's powers he's "at least" on par with cosmic entities like the Celestia's. The thing is that he isn't bound by cosmic laws because he's still 'technically' a mortal... so if he were to say go for something like the Infinity Gauntlet or Lantern Core battery then who could really stop him?
Gray The Odd I'm gonna laugh my ass of when the justice league unite return and rip these dark knights to shreds with nth metal. Dumbest weakness ever. Basically hawkgirl can solo these guys
Rob, it's like reading a comic with a buddy man! Def my fave channel! I know I heard you say that no one quite knows what the dark multiverse is and you have said that you think its a place where all the bad stuff happens. My theory based off the comics so far is that it is where everyones worst fears manifest and unlike the positive multiverse there aren't 52 universes but it is unlimited. Yes, Damian IS THE BEST ROBIN! My fave too man!
Or like Rob says is a universe where every wrong decision is made rather than a good one. And DC was pretty adamant on the fact that there is only 52 universes after infinite crisis.
dubiehouser i have to give my favorite to dick. Super awesome character. Definitely now in rebirth, wadnt great in new 52 i will admit but still decent still love knightwing
Kasim I heard that! But I notice the comics keep having these nightmare batmen say “were your worst fears” its a recurring theme. Just a thought brother! while they do say there are only 52 universes, i think thats true for the positive multiverse, but nor for the dark multiverse. If you notice when Kendra turns over the map of the 52 universes and shows the back, it doesn’t show 52 parallel universes its just all black.
Travis McElroy Nothing wrong with that pick man! I got a nostalgic love for Dick Grayson. Tbh Im not a huge night-wing fan, but he is def a good character. I think Damian embodies the most likeness to Batman and is closer to what I always thought Robin shld and cld be.. a BADASS! but Dick Grayson is still a solid pick bro!
I've got a theory too. Since Devastator Batman comes from Earth -1, I think what happened was a reverse of an Earth 1 story involving Batman getting possessed by the Dark Entity. Instead of him, its Superman who gets possessed and we see how the rest unfolds. The Dark Entity's form or name is never revealed and it would be amazing if it was actually revealed to be Barbatos himself. The parallels with the Devastator's story are there: 1.Batman goes insane and Superman believes whatever is controlling him can be fought and throughout it never gives up on Batman. (while Devastator first believes the same he eventually gives up hope) 2. The Dark Entity makes Superman go into dark despair to believe hes failed everyone and will fail everyone (Failed Krypton, his parents, will fail and Batman) Devastator believes just this. 3. Batman believes Superman gives everyone hope despite how dark things get (Devastator believes this is a lie) "Superman, don't listen! Yes, you've failed, we all have..but think of all the people you've helped..THEY need you..I need you..the WORLD needs you!" 4. The Dark Entity and Bartbatos come from a different universe, both use Batman as essential to their plan and have OP Batman duplicates as their army, both are demons, and were both summoned to the world via occult magic, are worshiped as gods etc.
i love how i got into this series and bought this exact issue yesterday and anxiously awaited for rob to cover it and get his thoughts on it, thank you for the inspiration to get back into comics man
I need more of this story!! Keep it coming! Marvel will always be my first choice but man these stories coming out of DC the last few years are on point!
I think Devastator Batman comes from the injustice universe. Batman upon seeing what he thought was The Joker says,” I thought he killed you” referring to Superman. The only DC Universe out there where Superman kills The Joker and goes rogue is the injustice universe which would also make sense as the injustice 2 comics are still being released so the concept of this happening is still fresh in the writers minds.
People forget the doomsday vs hulk video. Hulk can get stronger than doomsday and will ultimately be way stronger physically. Then there's Batman, I feel he could come up with a way, butbi have no idea how, bu5 considering he'll always come back to life I think he wwould win in the end
A curious thing is that injustice was never clearly stated to be part of the dark multiverse or the 52 .. so if you think about it and it's actually a 'positive world' all things considered. Especially with the other Justice league coming from the main universe 'i think' . Then there's a dark multiverse version of that works.. and as we know what happens varies but with metal and death metal we know there's a lot of evil batmen... So in my head canon unless they say it. With how the batman who laughs and it's watcher tempest something-naught said each have a a dark parallel.. for me the dark injustice world instead of Superman going dark it's Batman that does.. It's read the crap out of this story and still listen to it later if they made it lol
@@wugglesx Honestly, I feel like Injustice itself would take place somewhere in the Dark Multiverse, since it's a nightmare scenario where Superman snaps and turns evil.
@@praveenvijeyakumar741 tough to judge really in the first inside Batman wins but 2 is left open with a bad end and 'good' end in the bad end with Superman winning i would be on the dark multiverse side 100% but the Batman ending even with all the losses had more hope than any of the dark multiverse stories we've heard so far
Hey rob what is better : Dark knight or the ozz effect? Sinestro corps war or blackest night Long halloween or killing joke All star superman or for the man who have everything? And infinity gounlet or crisis on infinite earth?
Dark Knight > Oz effect Blackest Night > Sinestro Corps War imo Killing Joke > Long Halloween All star Superman > For the Man who have everything Crisis on Infinite Earths > Infinity Gauntlet Just my opinion...
Oz effect had been a disappointment so the only Dark Knight stories it would beat would are Frank Miller's post Dark Knight Returns ones and that's not too hard either (minus may be Master Race which I heard was good). Blackest Knight is either better or equal to Sinestro Corps war. Killing Joke and Long Halloween are great stories, but the former takes the cake. All Star Superman and For the man who has everything both are equally good. Crisis beats infinity by several steps.
The One Who Laughs has to be the Batman from Death In The Family. When he first shows up the Robins all look like the Grayson Robin but Jason also used the same style of uniform. When they start eating the Owls they all keep saying crow. They only stop when he says bar. Crowbar. After Jason's death he killed the Joker and when mad. Hoping this is a segway that bring Red Hood and The Outlaws into the event.
When "DoomsBat" was questioning the Batman who Laughed, he calls him Joker and says " I thought he killed you ..." . That implies rather heavily that Devastator Batman's origin align very closely to the Injustice story line where Superman kills Joker. Superman going rogue and killing Lois then, with no explanation killing other heroes and villains fits almost exactly to Injustice. Which also acknowledged Doomsday in its own canon . You're welcome Rob.
Am I the only one that was picking up on the Batman v Superman nods in this issue lol the spear, Doomsday growing back his right hand and Superman getting stabbed in the chest
Devastator Batman reminds me a lot of General Wade Iling from JLU. Unlike the general, however, Batman's actions were justified. I can't fault him at all.
Devastator Batman, because you are giving Batman, one of the most intelligent people on earth, with the strength and immortality of Doomsday. Shazam would be fucked.
I need a Devastator vs Lobo Round 2. Also, Robb misses his important point of Superman's Stories (or most of them). Superman ALWAYS saves Lois Lane. But in this Dark Universe, Superman Kills Lois Lane with his own hands, Batman didn't lose his hope because of the betrayal of his friend, he lose his hope because Superman Kills his own family, something that Batman despise in the order of the dead of his parents, and how his relationship grows with Clark. It's a sad but interesting story for Superman's fans. Can we trust in the hope that Superman give us or we are just let in us be tricked in ilusions? Damn... that was a hard good METAL Tie-in.
The scariest thing about the Devastator is that adapting the Doomsday strain to be used and controlled as a contingency for a rogue Superman not only sounds like something that our Batman WOULD do, but it's entirely possible that he HAS, but hasn't had to use it yet.
The Batman who laughs is a Batman that killed Joker. When Joker died, his heart released a gas that slowly turned Batman into the Joker overtime. And he kills all the members of the Batman family.
It's funny that I'm watching this while reading Final Crisis, where Batman is killed by lack of prep time and Superman goes apeshit cause his buddy's dead!
Sharil Shahed Billy Batson is just a 10 yr old kid even though he has the wisdom of Solomon. I think if shazam uses his power to its potential n superman being weak to magic he can beat him. If Dr fate has capacity to beat superman then y not shazam??
I’m curious, has Shazam ever fought doomsday before? I mean I understand Shazam is a bit of a power house I think he could take on doomsday but the devastator is umm a whole new level. But damn I would like to see Shazam and devastator fight it out!
14:53 A guy with batman's mind and combat training on top of Doomsday's strength? Hard to envision anyone below god tier standing a chance unless he could be hurt in an unexpected way, like being psychically shut down or teleported somewhere else.
I think that the Batman Who Laughs is a version of the Joker who wound up actually killing Batman and then took up his mantle in a way. That's why he looks like the Joker and walks around with a bunch of Dead Jason Todds that say "crow" while he controls them by saying "bar."
A fight between Devestater BATMAN and Shazam? I'm guessing the winner would be Whoever the writers would want to be. Isn't that how it's always done? Appreciate you Rob!
It will be quite a twist if Justice League Dark knew about Barbatos for some time and already in motion against the Batmen, ie Doctor Fate picking heroes away from their demise
I think The Batman who laughs origin will be something along the lines of the fact that when he first encountered joker disguised as the red hood instead of red hood falling into the chemicals at ace chemicals Batman falls in, goes insane, meets Barbados and becomes the Batman who laughs
I would say the Devastator, mostly because he still has Batman smarts and his OP strength. But again we haven’t seen much of Shazam so far. It could still be an even fight depending on how strong rebirth Shazam is.
I don't know why, but whenever I read the Batman who laughs character, the voice I hear is a mix of the joker and Batman from TAS... like the fusion in DBZ
@Comics Explained could you do videos on who could use the power stone and/or the infinity gauntlet. I think it would be awesome to see who could use that much power besides Thanos it would be so cool to see all the DC and marvel charters who could handle so much power thank you
-1 superman seems like he is under the influence of a red energy ring. And since the ring is able to travel through space to find you, it makes sense that it would somehow merge into superman. It also makes sense because red sunlight is one of superman's weaknesses.
Hey, Rob. What every happened to all the Watchmen stuff? We got the Jor-El reveal, but what came of that? Is that related to Metal at all? The only way I can think of for the good guys to win is to have Dr. Manhattan to do it...
Hey Rob trying to read Batman., been away from comics for awhile ., any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Love the show. Keep it going man!!!
My only problem with these stories is the insane plot induced stupidity of any scenario that ends in Barry not INSTANTLY crushing the non-speedster-y opposition.
And once again one of the Dark Batmen kicks arse and comes across as completely unstoppable. I know, I know, it's supposed to build up the tension especially with what happened to Superman and Wonder Woman but the bigger these threats become, the bigger the victory has to be and not some simple Nth Metal weapon that stops everyone.
There's also his red sun weapons. There are many things the Bat has to beat Supes not just kryptonite. What we fans REALLY have is the fact that Supes no kill rule is more ingrained then Bats' plus he will(unless turned evil) hold back n show many openings to exploit. But yes a no hold back Supes can kill the bat it just depends on circumstances.
Shazam vs Devastator Batman. I'm assuming Devastator retained most if not all is intellect, so he still has all his fighting skills. If that's the case, as long as Shazam keeps his distance, all he has to do is wait for the right moment to unload all his power onto Devastator. But if Dev.Batman gets a hold of him, game over man.
I think Devastator Batman comes from the Injustice universe. Thats why Devastator asks “I thought he killed you” while holding the BWL, remembering when Superman killed the joker in that universe.
Hey Rob, you got me back into comics 3 years ago with comics and coffee, civil war and walking dead. I owe so many hours of joy to you, the weekly pull, Comicstorian, comic pop that c monster and caped Joel. I hope to one day get a Rob core ring and and make a costume for comic Con.
The origin is cool, almost as cool as what I was hoping for, as my own hope was that this Batman was from a world ravaged by darksied, and all of earth's heroes fell one by one until Batman saw superman sacrifice himself to try to stop Darksied, only to fall protecting it, realizing that he can't stop darksied by himself he pulls out his final trump card, a sample of clark's blood from when he was infected by the doomsday strain, giving him enough power to save his world, only to lose himself in the rage of the monster known as doomsday, and in the end be the one who destroys his own world. Ps, I bet that Doom-Bat would lose to Shazam as he would have no defense against magic, plus the current Shazam does not need to tell Shazam to summon magic, thus Doom-Bat can't dodge the lightning bolt and let Shazam turn back to billy, though he could out wit billy as he still is quite smart.
