Who would have known that Ms. Tallulah Bankhead was dying during this performance? Adam West as Batman will always be my favorite hero. But I have to give the 'hero taunt' award to Black Widow! "You may be caped, and you may be dynamic. But to me, you're a crashing bore."
Uh, as much as I respect Miss Bankhead's talents and penchant to live for the moment...who would have NOT known that she was dying during this performance? She's 66 and looks and sounds like she could be 86.
The Divine Diva Ms. Tallulah Bankhead was 65 years old when she played Black Widow-it was her penultimate appearance after a career of almost 300 roles in stage, film, TV, and radio. Despite her age and a long history of drinking and smoking (she, by her own admission, could light up about 120 cigarettes *per day*), her trademark wit (she was a member of legendary Algonquin Round Table), unmatched stage presence, and genius talent are all on full display as the evil Black Widow. What an actress! :D
Some of the finest actors and comedians of cinema and stage showed up to guest on this. For the same reason they showed up on Betwitched. Once in awhile its just plain fun to camp it up, ham it up and play a tooth fairie, or Egghead, or a leprechaun or the Black Widow, etc. They did not need the money or the cred. They needed to have fun with the character!
If I remember correctly, in the episode with Art Carney playing the Archer, the cliffhanger was that the Archer and his band of merry men (LOL!) tried to skewer Batman and Robin with their lances.
The two best parts of the Tallulah episodes: the crashing bore line and Batman politely correcting Robin before being scared for his life. Okay, props to the Robin impersonation.
I do not believe that years of smoking made Tallulah's voice the way it sounded. Her voice always had that "unique" sound. She was knows for it. Yes, she smoked, lots. As Estelle Winwood said: "...all the lies that have been told about her I really would like to write a book to tell people how stupid they were about Tallulah"
Estelle Winwood lived to 101. She was 95 or 96 when she told Merv Griffin she smoked 3 packs of cigs a day, but I find that hard to believe. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZoJ0s8ogK00.html
It never gets old seeing the helpless heroes caught in the villains trap. Black widow should have unmasked them at that point as she was caressing their bulges.
@@jamesharrington4923 Mmmm. He is just that... Fell in luv with Batman in his cute satin costume and soft tights... Could not stop. My fantasy of his legs in tights and just wanted him so much.... Bought my first pair of tights due to my lil satin princess.... Kaping!!!
@@chrissteele1362 Batman and robin to be cocooned by black widows giant spiders? The dynamic duo to end up devourer before our very eyes? Can batman escape the spiders deadly Webb before it can sink its teeth ito the caped crusader? Are we truly witnessing the demise of Batman and Robin?
@Ted Baxter IMDb is wrong. Tallulah’s last American TV appearance was on a 1968 broadcast of The Tonight Show with Joe Garagiola substituting for Johnny Carson. Tallulah treated her fellow guests Lennon and McCartney as if she admired them.
I find the lesser known villians much more fascinating exiting. Lime black widow clock king book worm. Than the four core. Cat women riddler joker pinguin. Bore me
