Nah. Joel’s death wasn’t earned but it COULD HAVE. If the game was in chronological order it would have felt more natural and less artificial. People complained that his death wasn’t dignified, and I ask you which death in the Last of Us was at all dignified? Sarah’s is the closest but its still brutal and harsh. Here batman was dethroned, turned into one of the mindless thugs he beats up, actively mocked by Harley and crew, acting like they’re the heros now and that they deserve to replace him with no real effort to earn it. Joel’s death was a focal point of Last of Us part 2, Batman’s death serves no purpose here.
The difference with Joel is that he is living in a world that is trying to be very realistic and grim. Him having a brutal death makes a lot of sense, Batman is Batman though.
I highly doubt Arkham Batman would even be in the Justice League Following Arkham Knight, he probably lived in the fucking sewers or some shit and operated from there. Not became some sort of public figure, it’s crazy how badly they misinterpreted the ending of Arkham Knight

Guys, I hate this scene as much as everyone, but you have to be fair to Rocksteady. They couldn't have predicted Kevin's death. They tried their best to pay respects, despite the script, voiceacting, and most of the game already being done.

There was a whole episode of Batman: The Animated Series where Joker believes Batman is dead and holds a funeral for him. THAT, is a proper way to do a send-off for Batman. This “send-off” is sad and frankly insulting.
He also tried to kill the dude who he thought killed Batman. Man had more respect for the Bat in his left toenail than the shmuck who wrote this trash.
When I saw Harley shoot him my mind went back to that one episode of BTAS where she tries to go straight, but ends up "stealing" a dress by accident. At the end of the episode she's admitted back to Arkham, but batman still buys her the dress and says "I know what it's like to have a bad day" and she gives him a kiss. To think this Harley is supposed to be the spiritual successor to that Harley is honestly contradictory.
Even Last Of Us 2 showed respect to Joel by giving us Flashbacks. This just feels like it was written by those Twitter People that think Batman just does what he does to punch & cripple Poor People. The amount of disrespect to not just Batman, but Kevin Conroy, is so bad that I hope this game shuts down Rocksteady for making this dogshit. I wouldn't be surprised if the only Batman comic that they read was All-Star Batman and Robin and assumed that is what the entire character of Batman is like.
What's more insulting is that post credit scene where they pretend to care about Batman, Conroy and his legacy because let's be honest. They do not. If they made Batman's death like this, they could not care less about the character. Not to mention that they used Lois Lane there who probably should be talking about death of her HUSBAND!! Both Batman and Superman were done horribly dirty in this game, Rocksteady is dead and whoever replaced people who made previous Arkham games clearly actively HATE the DC Universe, Batman and Superman. Fuck those Devs. Also goddamn poetic too that the most dignified death is done to Wonder Woman. Because of course it is. Great.
If you compare her bio and how they handled her in the game you can very clearly tell the devs bias for her. The bio for her is egregious, Lex Luthor would never say that about her.
I've yet to see full footage of this game yet instantly knew they'd treat Wonder Woman's death with the respect Batman should have gotten. And what a surprise, that's exactly the case. These mindsets are so miserably predictable.

There was a comic issue where the Batman from the comics met the Arkhamverse Batman in a 2 page cameo and that did the character more justice than in this...well whatever thr fuck this was.
Batman fight would've been so cool as a "Reverse Predator Section" Like you and the squad are forced to use nothing but your firearms, and sometimes depending on your location will use an inverted takedown on you, Glide takedown, or even a grate or vent takedown. Each takedown takes a significant portion of your health so you have to play carefully. Sometimes he'll use a disruptor on your guns so you cant shoot for a time and in that time Batman will try to come after you. Make it two phases even, make the second section a scarecrow section, you have to hide from him and then get to like a spotlight or something just as a homage to Batman Arkham Asylum where it all began. I imagined he'd die by ASKING the squad to kill him rather than just be edgy batman on twitter insulting the squad.
It's worse than that. They hired writers with no credits but conveniently worth DEI points to replace the old ones. DEI'd all the way from top to bottom.
Remember Kevin Conroys final line for THE BATMAN is: "Are you done with you bad stand-up routine?" That is the final line for a character and voice actor that defined a GENERATION of gaming.

The movie wasn’t canon, it includes arkham villains you still see alive and well like two-face get shot and killed by the members, the main lore of the arkham verse is mainly the games the comics and movies are not and have been confirmed not to be by the original developers of the game

i can think something cooler When Harley talking sh1t, batman took the chance to strike and beat up everyone. Giving a last stand but since hes injured badly, he messed up and king shark take the opportunity to rip batman apart, before dying he could say something memorable. I think it's better than getting shot while sitting in a bench park

This reaction to batman's death is how I felt when I first saw the scene online, just good lord how mishandled the league is. Its just sad, superman dies without any respect, green lantern was completely out of character, wonder woman got to be herself (because certain consultant company), flash got wazzed on. This ruins the Arkham verse, robin (who was happily married and finding his footing in a world without batman) is dead/mind controlled considering there's no body. Dependant on how the story progresses things could get WORSE, Batman and the JL who were turned into puppets and instead of being detained and at least attempted to be cured as the game progresses were instead executed once downed. Death stroke or Prometheus should have got the kill on batman, somebody who could actually match him, with a Arkham knight style predator duel, with you trying to survive batman until he runs out of gadgets, then move into the fear gas sequence's first bit then a death stroke style 1v1 where the team is split up and forced to race to beat batman first maybe getting a bonus reward and a cutscene showing their character getting in the final blow. Superman should have been a desperate battle to survive, where you need to trap him in a room with the kryptonite, slowly luring him over. Flash should have been a Mr freeze style boss where you need to learn and find counters to his attacks, maybe using his villains weapons you could like loot from the hall of justice. Green lantern should have been paint myself yellow to justify surviving his attacks and could like, be hot potato each member using their fear to charge the battery then use it like an EMP to disrupt his ring. The batman boss fight is just a ripoff of his Lego batman 3 one but even worse. What a... pathetic send-off to Arkham batman and ruining the justice league on their introduction to the universe. Rocksteady, in their attempt to distance themselves from batman allowed a consultant company to just ruin their standing with the Arkham fanbase- I feel sorry for the devs that didn't want to make this game. Green lantern rings don't work as they should, superman's weakness to kryptonite was not shown off correctly, GOLD kryptonite should almost immediately remove his powers if he doesn't get away from it, the green kryptonite in his chest should have downed him. They want a joke- USE PINK KRYPTONITE. Kevin actually wanted to be an evil batman for once, seems he wanted to have a bit of fun in possibly his last performance, wonder if the story was different when he recorded the lines or even knew if it was in the Arkham verse, as he understood how much those games meant to the fanbase.

The thing is, Batman dying from a gunshot from someone as powerless as him (human I mean) is thematical since he always said that he either will die from old age, a villain getting lucky or a street thug getting lucky. But come on, just like that isn't even someone getting lucky just him being fucked over by a terrible script. Harley killing him would've been much better if, for a moment just like Flash, he regained control and either 1 (my own fanfic, I know), said one word and that being "sorry" and it pans to Harley face as she sheds a tear - finally getting rid of the last thing that was associated with Joker but also getting rid of the man that essentially killed her slavery or 2, he regains control and provides them with some information about Superman until Brainiac takes control again and they have to shoot him.
It's insane how a company who made multiple 10/10 games and boss fights, such as killer freeze in Arkham City, struggle so much with the boss fights in this game. ALL THEY HAD TO DO, was have the four characters fight Batman in a "predator section." And have the players knowledge of Batman's abilities from the previous games be used against batman, and make batman adapt to what the characters do JUST LIKE THE FREEZE FIGHT.
I think it’s really depressing that Pyro brings up Batman being at his lowest point and how he’s referencing his glory days, and the only connection Pyro makes is to some n’wah on tiktok.
