One month after we featured Danny Elfman’s splendid score for “Batman” here, it is time to present the music of the next installment of the Batman series. “Batman Returns” is a very successful follow-up to the original hit. Cinematic and musically. The score let one think that Danny Elfman found further to his musical identity with all the dark colors and the (now common) playful chorus elements. Enjoy!
Thanks for posting this. I read that one of Elfman's many influences was Bernard Hermann. In the last scene of the Batman Returns (attached link), the influence of Hermann is most evident. It reminds me of Hermann's score for Hitchcock's "Vertigo" (1958), ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nC9QBntYz9o.html
Danny elfman's dynamic score( to this Tim burton's 2nd definitive movie of the dark knight) is a dark masterpiece!!! Danny used the chorus to great effect in this score and it fit the dark and sinister nature of the Penquin perfectly. Tim burton's Batman movies afforded Danny to write his most exciting and definite scores which i think have best defined Danny elfman as a composer!!!
