Joel Schumacher was a man that you just can’t help but heap praise and respect on. Seriously I’ve always loved how candid and honest he is about his vision and what it took for him to get there “warts and all”. Cinema truly lost an incredible icon when Joel passed away. Sure he didn’t always make the “best” films but no one can say “he never gave it his all” or “wasn’t always passionate”. RIP Joel, you truly were one of the all time greats!
I understand if there's a lot of light-hearted stuff and some camp in this movie and it's not a movie that I would watch again or own, but I did get the action figure set from McFarlane and I love the George Clooney Batman figure and I liked his cameo in the flashy way more than him in this movie, but you know what? His argument as far as why he wanted to play a lighter version of Batman, but still takes himself seriously was so good that I cannot put down this version of Batman anymore.
Let's also appreciate that George is the only live action Batman (that I can recall) that actually SAVED and REDEEMED the villain in his movie (Mr. Freeze) rather than killing him, letting him die, or throwing him behind bars and forgetting about him.
@@theunknowncommenter725 You are right. From the start based on his track record he was the only one that did what you were saying. I also learned to accept the Schumacher Batman films because they retconned them and they're no longer part of Batman 1989 and Batman Returns. They're their own standalone sequels / soft reboots. Also from what I understand, Clooney's cameo in the Flash, because Flash made that small change of moving the tomato cans to the top shelf in his dad being freed, everything stayed the same in his universe except for his dad was freed and Ben Affleck has replaced with Clooney. They have the same idea with Clooney as they were to have with Keaton if they would have stuck with the original ending. So basically Clooney is a hybrid between his original self and Affleck so Clooney is more of a serious brutal version of his Batman. But back to what you were saying, yes, you are correct about Clooney and how he treated the villains. Also keep in mind that Mr. Freeze wasn't inherently evil.
