The writers of BTAS famously have stated that they were always disappointed that they never used Penguin well in BTAS and in fact one of the main writers and producers Alan Burnett said "We never came up with a good Penguin".
So fun fact. The performer singing Oprah is also Penguin's voice actor. So when it cuts to Penguin its him intentionally sounding awful to mimic he's own singing
Penguin really is blaming those two. First, he says society is to blame, but he then corrects it as “high society”, which is a term for rich and fancy people, like Veronica and Pierce. Penguin’s making it sound like he’s leveling with her, just to pull the rug and show her that he’s not going to forgive her.
First, I don’t work weekends🥳. I actually feel bad for Penguin this episode, bro got out of Arkham and was expecting them to roll out the red carpet. He must have forgotten he's a criminal and not a national treasure🤡, but then those two rich folks thought it was a good idea to rub shoulders with the Penguin when they just wanted a laugh for their party😵💫. I know the villains something else but the citizens of Gotham a different breed, might run into someone saying they'd run a fade with Batman😰. And they be about it too, I'm moving to Star City or Metropolis💀. But Penguin was flaming everybody at that party, imagine pulling out your best fit just to get told you look like you shopped at Cell Block 3😭. Nah Im going home crying and getting new clothes, Penguin devious for that one😂.
You never know who the true villains of gotham are, and it's 90 percent of the people that live in gotham.😂 My boy penguin just needed to just move cities. Penguin flaming me at the party would have me crash out, though.😂
I know everyone loves this episode, but personally I think the scene where Penguin goes back to being evil was a little too quick, he didn't even hear anything Veronica had to say. I feel he snapped too easily, which I'm sure some busybody'll try arguing makes sense for his personality, but it doesn't make for as dynamic a story. Yet, I don't quite know how to fix it, since in order to expand on Penguin discovering this, they would've had to remove or trim other scenes, so eh
My God! You know something from this episode? I almost feel sorry for Penguin. Maybe Veronica is a very picky person, but at least she was changing her mind, still annoying. It was her friend's fault for making Penguin have a heart break and being used in the end. Sometimes, we all wish some villains can change.
I gotta be honest, while generally the plots with the Penguin in BTAS where never really considered good by most people and even the writers, there are some people who quite like this episode but for me I really don't think this episode is that good. I appreciate what they were trying to do by making us sympathise with Oswald, but I don't think they wrote him in such a way where you rooted for him to be good. The plot is just too standard and doesn't make you feel invested.
