Voltage to measure capacity really only works well for lead acid. The other battery types maintain about the same voltage until they are depleted, you need to measure the output amp hours and calculate it from the known total capacity amp hours to get an accurate read out of capacity other than "almost empty and fully charged"

I have 2 12 volt Lifepro4 100Ah batteries for my 24V trolling motor. I need to be able to check how much charge the batteries have left while I'm out on the water. I currently have 2 standard 12v gauges mounted in the front of my boat that I had for my lead acid batteries. I have read that using the voltage only does not accurantly indicate how much power the battery has left. I would like some guidance as I am new to the Lithium batteries world.

Thanks for this video. Was about to buy this battery monitor for my Lifepo4 12v setup. Thankfully your video came up in RU-vid. This monitor is not really accurate. 13.6v is the full capacity of most LFP. 13.3 for 90%, 13.2v for 70%, 13.1v for 40%.

I’m literally in the same situation, setting up a LiFePo4 12v 100Ah battery for my camper. Could you tell me how did you set up rhe F parameter? It’s something between 02 and 27, but I don’t relly know how many cells my battery has. Thank you!

Set mine up for lifePo4, 24v 100ah, it registers 100% at fully charged, then as the battery settles down after chafging, even with zero load on it, it reads 87% while still fully charged. It also reads 0% about an hour before being fully depleted. As a temp m3asure it's fine, but I've ordered a Coulomb meter set up for the long run. I'm blown away by how long the 24v 100ah set up is lasting for my bus conversion, my fridge, diesel heater, h20 pump, lights and all charging points, 8-10 days from 95% down to 5%, mental..!!!!

@Ricardofromage 22 дня назад
@@coptastacul divide your battery voltage by 3.2, that will tell you how many cells you have. 25.6v÷ 3.2v is 8 cells 👍

I just purchased the DROK Battery Meter 12V, Marine RV Battery Capacity Volt Monitor and the Power Queen Mini Pro 100AH lithium battery for use with a trolling motor. I just fully charged it and my DROK voltage meter reads 13.8V. My understanding is that a full 12V battery will read between 14.5V and 14.2V. It shows two bars as green and two as yellow. ??? This leads me to believe some of the cells are bad. ??? What am I not understanding? Can a battery improve with a couple discharges and recharges?

Hi, I have recently installed this battery capacity meter and have an issue. My project is as follows: 1) 12.6V Lithium Ion Battery 2) Strip LED light (2.0m) 3) Touch Sensitive On/Off Switch NOTE: All components are DC Jack compatible and hence plug and play is possible. When I incorporate the On/Off switch my reading shows 0% When I exclude the On/Off switch my battery reading is more accurate 35% What would be the reason for this. Please let me know.

What will be the fully charged volts of a 12v lithium iron with 20 cells? It looks like your meter only supports up to 17 cells?
@PaulJNeil
@PaulJNeil Год назад
A 12v lithium iron battery pack only has 4 cells in series. It sounds like you have 20 cells, that would be 4s5p. Yes? That means the setting you need is 4 cels, not 20. Hope this helps.
@PaulJNeil
@PaulJNeil Год назад
Oops, I forgot your main question. The fully charged voltage for a 12v lifepo4 battery is 14.6 while charging and after it has rested, it will drop to 13.6 resting voltage.

Tried this. Does nor work on LiFePo4. Claims a 12.4v = a 57% SOC which makes no sense. Should be like a 15% SOC.

Can I use it for single solar lead acid battery 150 ah? Does it show full battery percentage like this?
@PaulJNeil
@PaulJNeil Год назад
Yes, it can be setup for lead acid batteries. For 12v, you would simply set it for one cell and have the battery type as a P. L is for lithium ion and f is for life batteries.

Can I use one of these for batteries in parallel. Trying to install one on my sons rc car
@PaulJNeil
@PaulJNeil Год назад
Which battery type ate you using? Life, li-ion, lipo, or lead acid? It does not matter how many cells (batteries) are in parallel. Series batteries like (life 3.2v per cell x how many cells you have) or (li-ion or lipo, 3.7v x how many cells in series, remember, parallel does not matter in the setup of this meter. (The last setup would be lead acid, agm, or maintainence free 12v batteries would be on in series for cell count.) Hope this helps.

How to set to default? I could not find how to do it. I would say that you can set it manually back to L 01, that was the settings when I first power it on. But for the other settings Im not sure.

I've installed this item along with a LED strip light and a 12.6V Lithium Ion Battery. I have the following issue: Option 1 - Install with On/Off switch - Results in a meter reading of 0% Battery Option 2 - Install without On/Off switch - Results in meter reading being more accurate e.g. 35% Has anyone got any idea why an On/Off switch would change the reading?
