It's all about the electrical connection surface area. Alligator clamps have very little surface area in contact with the terminals, therefore cannot deliver the current needed.
@@DENMONKEY And they'll be creating a heat point too. Not a problem on a test bench and we are talking quite low currents and loads, but hidden away in a car could be another issue entirely. Everyone needs to understand, the right connector for the right purpose. I have so many people skimp on connectors and crimping tools etc, 'cause there is a cheaper way to do it.

I was thinking that. Especially with this double barrel things like the ones kings sells that pulls 90 odd Amps. Charging up that 600 odd Amps of battery at 30A takes long enough, make it 20A and it's even worse.
