Battery DIED!! Replacing the Battery on a Yamaha V Star XVS 650

New subscriber here thanks for all your videos really appreciate them. A little tip if you haven't already looked into it, I highly recommend replacing the stator and getting a factory regulator rectifier. Do not go with the cheap Amazon ones. trust me I know, they've left me stranded on the side of the road. Thankfully it failed the good way and didn't charge the battery. I can only imagine what would have happened if it overvolted the battery. these bikes don't have a very strong charging system so if you're looking to add a bunch of accessories you are more than likely going to run into charging problems. Remember you're trusting your life with them cheap Chinese parts so don't. Good things aren't cheap and cheap things aren't good. Also don't buy the $8.99 ignition coils, spend the money and get you some dynatek coils and cdi. I've got about 3500 miles since installing the new dynatek ignition system and it really wakes the bike up, paired with a good exhaust carb jetting and pod filters. At sea level I believe if I remember correctly I'm running third space on the needle c-clip, I tried just shimming the factory one with a washer and it's not the same as buying an actual jet kit. two and a half turns out on the afr screw. No need to mess with the pilot jet unless you're increasing bore size. I believe I'm running a 115 or 120 main jet, it's been awhile since I've been in there. Hopefully this information is useful someone 🤷take care 😇

Check terminal to cable connections before replacing the battery. I had the same thing happen to my 07 650, hit the starter button and it would click. Turns out the cables were loose. Tightened them and the bike started right up.

My battery died on my vstar yesterday ☹️ I started it with the choke in by accident, so turned the bike off, pulled the choke out, and went to start it, and it wouldn’t even turn over

Never ever put a battery directly on a cement floor it will die overnight and will never hold a charge again.
