I like this guys channel..i bought me my vary first yota this past may(2019 sport)I've only ever owned fords and 1 dodge..i bought my first ford truck in 95 and my last in 2015. Over all the year and all my trucks my TACO is my favorite!
Super helpful video. I saw a comment say when connecting the battery first connect the positive and then the negative that is absolutely true. Just wanted to add if you try to start the truck and it doesn’t, active the control by locking and unlocking the truck.
Thank you. I had never heard that noise before on previous cars/truck except when the starter failed. I've also never have a battery suddenly fail without giving me a hint (like sluggish cranking, etc.) that it was going bad. This made me comfortable in going out and getting a new battery to see if that was the cause. Sure enough started like a champ.
My 2017 is doing this at 47k miles. Very helpful video because I was in a bit of panic. Given the number of people experiencing this issue with low mileage (albeit it is probably a 5.5 year old battery) I am wondering if the charging system has a design flaw. Probably not, but…. NextDay: got the battery installed. Neighbor suggested the alarm system draws batter down when truck sits. Makes sense.
My 2017 SR5 Tundra just did this about an hour ago. Pissed and confused as I live in Germany and getting parts and to mechanics where im at is a damned task. Happy its just the battery, gonna hop on over to the city sometime this week to get it!
Bro I JUST went through this when trying to leave work today; 2016 TRD OffRoad and it did same “jackhammer” sound with instrument cluster working. Was freakin thinking something was seriously wrong. Luckily was able to get jumped and also went with Costco; swapped in parking lot and was good to go! Tacos KEEP ROLLING! 👍🏻
I have never had an issue with this either. Not once. I took it in 5 days ago to the dealership to have the 60k tune up done. Drove it fine for two days before going on vacation. It's been sitting 3 days and is now doing this same thing. I've let it sit for two weeks before with no startup issue. Seems odd days after dealership visit I have issues.
where to find specs for the battery? i have a 2019 sr5 and nothing in manual for battery specs except on the battery itself shows 582 colds cranking amps and replace with group 24F. i see your battery also has 24F on it.
Did you notice any rough running until the computer reset everything ? Ive heard weird stories about unhooking your battery for repairs and such causing this. Ive unhooked my battery in every vehicle ive ever had a gazillion times , never had a problem. Just curious.......congrats on the easy fix
Video does not show sequence for Removal of the battery terminals and sequence for Replacement of the battery terminals. Imperative to know and follow the correct sequence!!
I am surprised you didnt take the opportunity to up size the battery to at least a group 27 especially with a winch. My oem battery was going out after a bit over 3 years which was the same time I also installed a winch. Went ahead and put in a group 31 agm duracell
Glad I was wrong. I thought it was the starter due to the ticking noise and the fact that the engine seemed to be turning over but not starting. But I think the ticking noise is from the pushbutton starter cycling.
Your battery connections are corroded badly,may have been your only problem.Always check condition of terminals before spending major money on a new battery and try to charge the original battery
The factory batteries on the 16 and up Tacoma are really bad. Everyone is having problems with them lasting all me 20,000 miles. My factory battery only lasted 13,000 miles. I end up going to batteries plus in getting a knock off Northstar battery that is the same size yet three times as powerful.
And it’s still a group 24F but it has a lot more cold cranking amps. Yes it was about 300 bucks for the battery but it’s the same size as the factory battery yet three times is powerful. I got it because I go camping and over landing and I have a bunch of lights.Just be careful because if you do get your battery warranted like I did, from the factory Toyota, they’re going to give you a secondhand battery that’s just as worse.

if you don't drive your vehicle any vehicle you will lose battery life meaning you're not charging your 12-volt battery enough. it may still read 12 volts with a multimeter but not enough CCA -cold cranking amps to start your vehicle. always check your battery and terminals guys. this guy making the video thought Toyota failed but you failed for being an irresponsible vehicle owner lol. any vehicle will do this.
You for sure overreacted. Even if you had a more serious problem you have to keep things in perspective. Even the best brands will have some failures. Take care.
