Iv been doing my research over the last year on what ADV bike i wanted to get. I narrowed it down to the African twin & the Yamaha Super tenere. I went with the yamaha just because of the easier maintenance. Like oil change & air filter change. Really easy access to the battery & fuse box. Quarter turn quick release Allen bolts on bike fairing. Shift drive so no chain issues. Really easy access to head lamp bulbs. I love me Hondas but the pain in the ass time consuming task just to maintain the bike pointed me towards the yamaha! No regrets on the Yamaha. Africa twin still turns my head because she still a sexy beast! Thanks for video!👍
I do like the Yamaha and understand ease is up there. Not rode the tenere so cant comment on the bike. Nice looking bike and a good engine size. I do like the AT though. 👍👍
If there’s a way to take the negative off first then I would do that, if you touch anything metal with your spanner while putting on/taking off the positive wire (grounding the battery to the frame for example) best case is it spark and blow the fuse; but worst case, it will weld the spanner to the bike and the whole thing will go up in flames May no be possible on this bike, but as a general rule, you should always disconnect the negative first, and reconnect it last :)
There is another negative nut on the end of the case that is unscrewed first and reinstalled last. Maybe this is a different model or it’s been modified? Definitely makes the replacement easier than in this situation.
G'Day, Andy ...Do you have a thought as to why the stock batt crapped out or was it just coz you wanted to swap out ...The reason I ask is I have had the stock batt in and no problem ... tho the bike doesn't sit for very long ... that may have affect on a batt ... regular use maybe keeps them working longer?.... btw that looked painful to do lol ...Stay safe cobba
Yes buddy. Without a lot of use of the bike too due to lockdowns. I do have it sitting on a battery tender to make sure it doesnt go flat. But yes all good 1 year on 👍👍
