He was throwing the pitches so short I had to move up just to swing! Lol. I went with a uncle J after and had better swings. Lol

Great YT channel to share with everyone, keep up the good works guys... Hitting the backside is an absolutely vital part of one's game If you really want to get your AVG. way up and advance the runners over while putting pressure on an Outfielder. Whether it's leagues and/or Tournaments, especially with a team who has never played your team. Whenever I go backside... I have my normal stances feet together, I'm hard off the plate, wait a bit more than normal and as I start my swing, I point my front shoulder stride towards the 1st base bag and go from there, as a right-handed batter... It's called "Walking the Dog" LOL!!! hopefully, you guys get to play perpetually... I'm 66 y/o and Sr. Tourney Major Plus level...

Nice video and tips. Nothing better than taking live BP IMO. Also agree about 5 people max

Thanks for the comment! Each player seems to have that combination of tee work & live BP that helps them lock-in their swing. I am with you, Live BP is what gets me to the best swing I got. Anything specific you work on in BP that we didn't cover?

I wish I could get my people to practice. I have 21 people on the roster and only 6 want to practice. They all think they don't need it.
@LeagueNightSoftball
@LeagueNightSoftball 2 года назад
Often, that's how you find out who wants to compete and who just wants to have fun. There is nothing wrong with either of those but it's good to know what kind of team you are playing for. Our suggestion would be to treat that team as it is (for fun) and maybe seek out a second team to play for that is a bit more competitive minded. That way you can get your fix for competition and improvement and still play with your friends for fun. Nothing wrong with more softball!

Hi guys, great video here. I've run a BP following the spots you indicated (btw. Pitcher and 4, pitchet and 6 and between 5 and 6). I somehow struggle to hit between 5 and 6 (i'm a righty). Do you have a video showing some pointers for that? I'm trying to hit the ball earlier, but often it turns into weak pop ups....any help will be appreciated :)
@LeagueNightSoftball
@LeagueNightSoftball Год назад
Thanks for watching! Glad the video has helped you some. The 5/6 hole it's really about meeting the ball way out in front of you and committing your hands tonthat direction. Best way to practice this is off of the tee. We have a whole series of new tee work videos coming out over the coming weeks and we'll definitely cover that!

@@LeagueNightSoftball Thanks for the advices. I tried to look how Brandon is doing in the 2nd part of the cut swing video and it's exactly the result i'm looking for. But was not able to reproduce yet the timing and contact point. And in my league we nearly exclusively get high pitches with ark of 7'9"-7'10 and even above. So looking forward to the tee drills (i train with a pop toss green tee)

What's up guys....what does it mean when ppl say "stay inside" the ball? Maybe you guys can make a video on it🤷🏽‍♂️
@LeagueNightSoftball
@LeagueNightSoftball Год назад
Staying inside the ball usually refers to keeping the hands inside the ball or a bit more connected to the body. This is the opposite of getting around the ball where the hands are farther away and usually are controlled (poorly) by the arms instead of the body. I hope this helps.

What's better a long stride or short stride? I see power hitters do long stride but I do short strides and still get good contact on the ball
@LeagueNightSoftball
@LeagueNightSoftball 2 года назад
Good question. A good rule of thumb for me (slightly under 6' tall), is that my stride should be approximately the length of my bat. AKA the space between my feet is almost 3 feet. This will vary depending on your height and how long your legs are but that should be pretty close. The big key is for the stride to be long enough to generate forward power but not so long that you can't brace all of your weight on the front foot as you make contact. Hope this helps!
@Knordsman
@Knordsman 2 года назад
Dumb question, as a batter, you are only out if you step on the plate, correct? If you step in front of it you are safe correct?
@LeagueNightSoftball
@LeagueNightSoftball 2 года назад
Hey Erik, thanks for watching! I think the rules vary by style of play, but I know that in ASA/USA if you have a foot completely out of the batter's box before contacting the ball is an out as well. Ask Jason Zagorski; he got called out on this a few weeks back during an SFGSL game!
@BigRed1654
@BigRed1654 2 года назад
All depends on the league/ association, most will call you out if you either touch home plate or step in front of home plate. Though, technically according to the rules you need to have 1 foot 'Completely' out of the batters box when hitting to be considered out
@LeagueNightSoftball
@LeagueNightSoftball 2 года назад
Thanks for the info Austin! We have seen a ton of differing opinions on this, and the enforcement is inconsistent as well.
@jasonzagorski3718
@jasonzagorski3718 2 года назад
The way I understand it is that if, at the time of connecting with the ball, you have a foot on the plate, in front of the plate or completely outside the batter's box, then it's a dead ball out. I did in fact have a line drive single taken away from me because I stepped off to the side of the batter's box with my front foot (not out in front) before pulling a ball to left-center.
