I still remember how insanely advanced it seemed that your voiced echoed in certain "indoor" stages. This was HIGH TECH for 1995. These were also the best graphics you could find on the systems of the time, hard as it seems to believe now. They'd improve with each game, Virtua Fighter 2, Tekken 2, and others- but for the PlayStation's debut, this was actually the "Killer App".
This game was definitely pushed heavily, as SEGA had released the system early with Virtua Fighter. It was the better playing game but it’s graphics were far below Toshinden’s, and the port had graphical bugs too.
Toshinden might not have been the best fighter on the block when it released, but it was a real pioneer in the early days of 3D console gaming. It looked and sounded great, and though it's no Virtua Fighter, it was still a great deal of fun.
First actual game I ever played on any console. It instantly became one of my favorites, even to this day I admire this game. Watching this video brings back memories.
Same. I was a Nintendo boi. But they kept postponing the release of the 64. Sony came along and I was hooked. Hell, I think I skipped school a few times just to go to the store and play the demo.
When my brother rented the PS1 and blockbuster, he got this game and ridge racer. Cost 20 bucks to rent. When I saw this game I was completely blown away by the graphics. This was in 1995. Memories.
Excellent game play. This brings back many sweaty-handed nerve wrecking game play memories of my youth. You did amazing here. A few characters gave you some trouble but you got them back QUICK, so good. Thanks for sharing 👍
Hearing all of those sound effects again. very nostalgic. I rented an entire PS1 at Blockbuster with this game one time. I got it for x-mas at the end of the year. Good times.
Omg the nostalgia!! I died for this game back in the day! I was a pretty big Mortal Kombat fan before this so when a 3d game for the PlayStation came out, I was soo glad my dad got it! The sounds they made as they fought was so addicting!
This was the first PlayStation game I played 20 years ago despite the fact I didn't own the system -- my cousins in Maryland got it for Christmas in 1996. Man, the memories of this, _Tekken_ and the PlayStation Interactive Sampler Volume 3... (_Fun Fact: In a YA fiction (young-adult) project I'm working on that--surprisingly--focuses on the history of video games, the true final boss of this game, Sho, is one of the inspirations behind one character._) I wish this was re-released in the PlayStation Store... :) Keep up the good work. -DFW
I remember this game had a ridiculous amount of hype behind it. Game Players magazine in particular was obsessed with it. Kinda crazy how quickly this series fizzled out after the hype.
"Best Brawler EVER!" It sounds so ridiculous today, but I was absolutely wrapped up in the hype, and loved the shit out of this game. Hindsight has shown that VF & Tekken were better, but I was definitely in the "Toshinden" camp in 1995. It seemed SO much better.
Those were the Best Fighting Games ever in the 90's, Visit The Past to Have Fighting Games on Playstation 1 and Xbox 160, Playstation 2 and Xbox 260, and Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.
Oh yeah. I remember this, or it's demo version for the original playstation. There were 3 playable characters. First there was was this "Hey cousin!"-guy, some chick, and an old man with claws who laughed like he had problems.
This game brought back some funny memories. Our order of the cd was somehow messed up with the character Elise. Her voice was so deep she sounded like a man. Omg her ‘AYYY’ was completely deep voiced it sounded hilarious. We seriously thought that was her legit voice in the game 🤣 Ended up purchasing another copy and it was fine this time.
underrated channel, wish it had more subscribers. Maybe since 8 years has been passed [of ps4/x1/wiiu] it's a good idea to begin to include dc, ps2, gamecube, ds games?
1st game was very unlucky, being outshadowed by Tekken very quickly, and after 2nd game, quality went all down to hell. Still, 4th part was precursor of modern 30 fps - better graphics but slower gameplay, or 60 fps - worse graphics, but faster gameplay
I remember back in the day when arcades were still a big thing to go to, and this came out on display at Walmart/Target for the buyer to play. I thought these graphics were arcade quality and I though, "Wow, you can actually bring the arcade home with you!" During that time, this was the first Playstation game I ever played. Sadly, Tekken stole the spotlight from this title the way Streets of Rage stole the fire from Final Fight. I think that and Tigershark were my first Sega Cd games too.
"- hello, what's the weather? - 8:35 " ))) I'm sorry, I couldn't, her and everyone voices are great, don't change anything)) [actually they are with music are great & unique, Super Smash Bros on par peaceful]
Can anyone help me, please? I can't remember the name of a ps1 3D fighting game. One character was like fairy grandma that attacked by rolling a hula hoop at you vertically. There was also a fighter dressed like a businessman in a black suit. He'd say some chant and pentagram would come under your feat and do a bunch of damage.
First played this in the mid-2000s as i'm a sucker for "VS. Fighting" games!! I had fun with it's appealing characters and ROCKIN' soundtrack!! However, (personally)i'd say, it'd aged pretty poorly as I've been spoiled by smoother 3D fighters............I still like it and not a bad game by any means!! Favorite characters were Mondo and Eiji!!
RockmanSam Have you ever seen the game Vs.? Lmao talk about awesome but super-dated. Pretty good game though, once you stop feeling embarrassed for it and get past the tackiness
NintendoComplete seen it, but never played it.....as I only read a few online reviews about the game and that the original product was changed to appeal more to the western audience when it was released here in the U.S.........tho, it does look pretty cool!! i'll take yer word for it, mate!! (^_^)
THANK YOU...the first time I heard of this series was on the gameboy. My neighbour went new york a year and came back with this and it was the BEST fighting game I ever played on the GB! I bought a ps classic mini and finall played the original 3d version...i dont like this version though.
I’d call this game not the greatest fighter in the world but I do appreciate it for what it is. I mean the characters are a bit slow in movement but at least all characters are able to pull off moves easily and consistently, no problem! As Eiji says, “No problem!” I really like Eiji Shinjo, he happens to be my favourite character next to Kayin Amoh, my second fav char. Man the voice acting is terrible, laughably bad, like comedic, not pathetic. Kayin sounds kind of Spanish, almost like someone off of Shrek when he says “Deadly ray!”. Eiji sounds like a Mexican in the story mode dialogue. Want a burrito, Eiji? I do think this PS version is superior to the Sat version despite its added features. Sega Saturn is terrible at polygons but great at sprites which explains why they don’t look that good and 3D objects appear mesh but sprites can appear transparent, I’ve seen that on Saturn, believe me. But I still love both PS and Saturn. But enough of that, I think Toshinden is an okay at best fighter but it does often some fun. While the graphics haven’t aged that well (what do you expect from old polygons?) the music is definitely good and music never ages, which is worth mentioning. When characters hit each other it sounds like balloons popping. The characters are definitely interesting and likeable. The gameplay is fine to me but it feels like refinement could be done but that’s what the sequels did. Believe it or not, it even has an anime series. Not that bad for a first 3D weapon fighter if you ask me. But I like the Game Boy version more as I really enjoyed it.
No, I think this is not the game Im looking for, but is pretty similar! Does any1 else remember any other game like this where you can push your opponent out of the arena? The game had "korean like" characters, with swords. And I think in some part of the presentation or before to battle you see the characters going up in an elevator.

I remember this awesome. For me it is the classic Beatm up and first one on PS1. But i remember too, thats every title after this got more worse and crazy as fu.ck. dont know what happeded after BAT3.......
I'll never forget when i first saw BTS2 running, the way characters just flew around during the matches just blew my mind! That was the moment i decided to take gaming more seriously.
