I love this, im always re reading and watching to understand the battles better to help me create my dnd large scale tactics. Thank you for the video, im looking forward to back watching!
Thank you so much! I'm glad you are finding this so useful. I plan to expand on this and add more interactive maps as well to further explain the motions in each battle easier. Thanks for the support
@@onenerdtorulethem-all Animated maps like you see with some history RU-vidrs would be awesome for LOTR content! Taking book descriptions of things to animate them, of course
Where do I find more information about the early drafts of lord of the rings? It was really interesting when you mentioned that the battle of the Hornburg did not exist in earlier drafts. I've always had a sneaking suspicion that must have been the case because it seems to follow the same formula as the siege of Gondor
Hi thanks for your comment. I looked around for information a fair bit, you are 100% correct in feeling that the Hornburg and Gondor were following the same stream of thinking, systematically they are very one and the same just different locations. I looked for some info on the Tolkien Estate website and a website called Den of Geek has some cool stuff about other differences from the story we know and love today. So I would encourage you looking at those because they both have some good reads on there. Thanks again for the support!
@@onenerdtorulethem-all I'm curious what you think of Tolkien having basically the same battle happen twice? Do you think it's overly-repetitive storytelling, or is there enough differences to where it doesn't bother you? My thoughts are kind of conflicted after my latest re-read, and I'd like to hear another fan's opinion
