It's nice to see a diamond select ship again. When I displayed my ship, I insert the stand and I turn the ship upside down. I then use an eyedropper to put some floor wax in the opening around the stand ball. When the floor wax dries it keeps the ship in the position that I set it too
Regarding the stand, they are really terrible. There is a way you can reduce the risk of stress though. On the reverse side of the battery cover, there is a plastic plate covering the socket, held in with three screws, if you loosen them, it reduces the tension in the rubber socket for you to carefully insert the ball
My original stand also broke on my TWOK enterprise, I ended up replacing it with an acrylic stand off of eBay similar to the one that comes with the TOS enterprise model from AMT. They didn't start making decent stands until they released the Enterprise D.
I came here to make basically the same comment. That’s exactly what I had to do with mine. On the TOS models, I ended up gluing most of the ball joints in one position because I got tired of the models just randomly toppling over after not being touched for months. AA/DST finally improved the stands with the Enterprise-E, but never bothered to retro fit the older toys when they reissued them.
I had the ball end of the stand break off inside my standard refit. I just pulled it out with pliers, glued it back on the stand with copious amounts of gel superglue and the ship has been sitting on it without issues for years now!
I really wish the diamond select made another version of the Enterprise from Star Trek 3 the fully battle damaged one so you can have one has been battle damage and the other one is about to blow up.
Indeed also Like he said about the countdown I really wish that you pushed down the button Let's say like 3 Seconds You get to hear the auto destruct sequence And you hear the main bad guy yelling get out! get out of here! Get out! As we hear explosions On the bridge the klingons screaming as the bridge is blowing up.
Hi, captain, I don't know if you remember me. But I was very talkative on one of live sessions a little while back and spoke of my nephew being very ill. He actually survived, but they had to amputate his hands and feet. Both arms up to mid forearm. Yet, somehow he has a really good attitude! I admire him so much he is. SO brave. I just wanted to let you know. In case you remember that because you reacted with concern and I very much want to thank you. I'm trying to stay as positive as I can by trying to help in a way that I'm able. And that's trying to get him some new hands feet. We're gonna be better than the rest of ours hands. That's pretty important, he doesn't have any hands at all. I just can't imagine how he is so grateful just to be alive. That's why hes my hero. Michael Kohlhof is the bravest person I've ever known. Thanks again, captain.
It’s a shame diamond select chose to cheap out on this. Would it have really been hard for them to add a couple new sound effects to this before releasing it? The countdown on the bridge with Kruge shouting “get out of there, get out”, Kirk Scotty and Chekov setting the destruct sequence and Kirk’s “what have I done…” line. Instead they slapped a couple new decals on, added a couple of extra lines of text and called it a day. They couldn’t even be bothered to change the title to include the right movie. Those things would’ve cost almost nothing, it’s just a lazy cash grab, sad.
Refrence the stand, what i found with all mine is, before you attach the hull section, run both under hot water, (without getting burnt) for a few minutes, then it will go in easerly. Then attach the hull section
That's actually an Art Asylum toy from before dst took over and ended up ruining the line. I call the orange one the Cheeto-prise, and it has no electronics.
this should have been 2 different toys 1. Battle Damaged - from the end of Wrath of Khan 2. Destroyed - with the front of the saucer section "destroyed" and the leading edges of the engines and neck/dish area in an orange color so when it lights up it looks like it's on fire as it enters the atmosphere
Totally agree. Did too much with one product. Can't ever seem to find something that is faithful to the special effects team of Star Trek II or III.. oh well..
You really should use a dremel to carve out the battle damaged sections. THEN you can paint the carved out areas black. THEN you can apply the decals to those burned up decks. That's what I'm gonna do with mine.
I just use the other enterprise stands. Option 2. I go on ebay get those acrylic stands...I got one for enterprise d. That stands a nightmare for that ship 😮
sorry my english is very carzy i am estonia i like wrath of the khan so very nice, very excite film, i like so very nice when kirk does his shout “oh khan, oh khan, oh khan”
Very nice indeed yeah you’ll notice Foley that Diamond Select did wrong typos in packing box Deflector is no the proper Blue though it is white on yours wasn’t it no blue in movie ?
Hi -I have never seen this one before . I think they did a good job replicating the saucer explosion but I love the Connie refit and would not go for this.
Awesome @Captain Stuart Foley ! :) also i do hope to cover my versions of this ship since i own 3 diff variants lol love that ya said that the Final Flight version / Red version is like the General lee oh and the Ship number of the ENT is 1701 so the 01 is at the end of the registry number as appose to sides of the Saucer or 2ndry hull :) like on the Doors of the General lee lol jokes ! ........ but yeah Fun Facts about the ship 1) Battle damaged version of the refit. While marketed as a The Wrath of Khan release, the battle damage includes a mid-self destruct saucer damage print, so more accurately it is a Star Trek 3 The Search For Spock version. Released : 2003 And technically the first release of the 1701 refit. ................ 2) A second battle damaged version of the refit Enterprise, this time limited to the The Wrath of Khan damage. Comic Con exclusive a limited edition 1 of 400 . • Released : 2007. and finally 3) The Red Version / Final Flight is Another battle damaged version of the refit Enterprise, this time made in translucent orange plastic to give the impression of the ship's final moment's as a fireball falling towards the Genesis planet. The electronics were omitted so not to show through the clear plastic, so this has no light or sound features. • Released : 2016 - 2017 San Diego Comic Con exclusive, a limited edition 1 of 400.
So to remove the broken peg , how indo it is take a small drill bit and drill into it half the depth and use a screw , screw it snug then pull , no lube but with fine grit sand paper you can sand it down slowly to a proper fit .
I wonder why Playmates never made this version of the Enterprise. Would be great to see them take a shot at it in their modern Trek line (minus the battle damage)
That's wild I also live in London ontario. I truthfully don't venture downtown anymore it's all homeless people now, but I'll probably give that store a check out
@StuartFoleyCaptainFoley sure, I actually need some Sci Fi friends I'm a bit of a lone wolf regarding star trek in my circle 😄 If there is a PM on RU-vid I'll send you my contact info. I started building trek models a little over a year ago, most are in boxes but have 2 finished fully lit 1000 scale ships. More to do including the 350 scale refit. I turned a shed into a hobby shop, insulated and heated for the winter too. It has become a bit of a hang out spot in the backyard! Come by for a coffee anytime.
@StuartFoleyCaptainFoley I've bought a lot of star trek model kits from a hobby store by Costco on wellington and oxford, hobby and toy central. And RC toys at AVF on Dundas st I fly remote controlled airplanes also
Wish diamond select continue the line. These were the best way get the iconic ships . There were pricey but back then not too bad. Nowadays too crazy prices...I mainly stuck with Shatner movie enterprise wrath and part6. Got enterprise d and e and one version of classic. I broke hms bounty bop ...batteries rotting couldn't work so I got rid of it. It was a good ship. I. Glad she was saved in the museum and did way better than mine 😢lol.😊
Cool idea, and execution, but I couldn't never own one. The most painful moment in my history of Trek. One of the reasons why I snarl at the sight of a Miranda class ship. It's a decent class, but I will never forgive it. I'm refit Constitution over the Galaxy Class but Nebula over the Miranda.
Greetings captain, suggestions that ball joint perhaps a WD-40 or some other lubricant on that ball might allow you to put the model on a little bit more easily and also remove it should you want to take it off the stand. It's at that or shave the ball down a little bit with some sandpaper. Just a thought.
i myself have several STARSHIPS, in dIfferent sizes, my favorite is the NX-O1. And with the display stand, i would not worry to much about breaking it, if your just going to leave it set up on display, and messing with it like your doing on camera would end up breaking it, you were stressing me out a bit by messing with it. my Movie Version is on a ball joint stand and it to was a snug fit, but i do not mess with it, nor would not want to take it off, however my smaller ones from MATCHBOX broke off. good video, now i will go on line to E-BAY and look for mine. if i ca not afford one, i will get it for X-MAS from my brother possibly.
Love the diamond select enterprises. I have the 1st version w just sound fx...the wrath khan version and startrek 6 version. All said the wrath khan version holds up pretty well had over 10 years in box storage and humidity and still plays...love em all. Wrath khan has a weird egg translucent white color and I prefer trek6 white. But wrath khan is iconic. Only version I don't have is battle damage wrath khan enterprise and the version you just picked up. The hull damage looks beautiful. It seems all scifi space ships always always have crappy stands...why why why sigh. Owell.
Just had mine , I agree with the stand , faaarrrrr too tight, also wasnt there a Wrath of Khan one with damage and dialogue, not just the clean version one ? , Or was I imagining that ?
If you want to get that ball out of the bottom bulkhead just use small little drills until the ball breaks up.....or you can drill in a small screw and pull it out.
I have Sisko and I also have Kruge on pre-order. I also plan on getting TWOK Kirk and Spock as well. But other then those I am not really interested in getting any more.
Never understood why people love collectible with damaged looks, better clean in my opinion. I can understand a bit of dirt or scratch but not at that level lol. Model is cool tho.
I’m pretty sure this ship design was it being damaged is supposed to be referenced to the search for Spock when the enterprise… we just hate that scene zer.. code 000 destruct 0
