@theacme3

nice spotting. I guess rubberpads are worn down faster on roads than in mud. Guess they are shipped back and forth between danger zones. If Ukraine can achieve artillery parity by using these systems (Pzh, but also archer and cheasar) this war will be un-winnable for russia.
@vincentkuipers9577
@vincentkuipers9577 Год назад
The rubber pads are for preventing road damage when traveling over then. They're not strictly necessary. I saw them on tanks here in peace time and they left big black rubber marks after every turn. It's normal for these pads to wear off quickly.
@armadspengler2717
@armadspengler2717 Год назад
@@vincentkuipers9577 I know what the rubber pads are for. I was a tank driver on a Leo 2A4 in the 90s in Germany. The pads on the Leo tracks are the same. The rubber pads are not only to safe paved roads from damage but provide better traction on paved roads, especially when braking these steel monsters, moreover they also protect the metal parts of the tracks from extreme wear. In the condition shown, the pads can no longer simply be changed with a sledgehammer in the field to renew the tracks in the easiest way possible. The metal parts underneath will soon be so damaged which will make it necessary to replace the entire tracks. I hope the appropriate replacement tracks will be available then and the howitzer will make it to a maintenance base where they can be changed. One of the main advantages of the PzH 2000 is its high mobility, but if the rubber pads or the entire metal tracks below are ruined in such a way, the high degree of mobility will be gone.

So it just means "tank howitzer model 2000"... And why does it just have basically a factory designation? Becuase the german army coulndt agree on the name and somebody was just feed up and went "lets jsut keep the factory name" :D By the way one of the proposed names was: Butterfly /Schmetterling Maybe because the first part of the word "schmetter" sounds like "zerschmettern"/ shatter with full force and it would have been a nice world play :D

Four minutes 50 seconds. That's kind of what I was thinking use a peony to steadily fire and attract counter artillery from the Russians. Then use the modern artillery to kill the Russian Artillery just have the peony operators run.

Good to see our tech in competent hands. We should send much more. Unfortunately there are a lot of cowards and "pacifists" in our country who slow things down. Greetings from Germany! Slawa Ukrajini!

Put 3 shells out of the barrel, they hit at the same time, while you can already change position... Thats Arti at another level. It might be at a hight cost, but basically you have errased artis biggest flaw: Immobile positions that can be countered with relative ease. Imagine a sniper who downs the enemy and is at a different lookout before the enemy hits the ground.

A couple of months prior to Russia’s full-scale invasion, I remember Forbes reporting that Russia’s 2S7’s were, “Faster and more accurate than Ukraine’s 2S7’s, due to the sophisticated fire-control system that Russia recently developed, and that Russia’s 2S7 combines drones, ground-based radars, electronic eavesdroppers to spot targets, and sturdy radio links to relay coordinates to the guns.” Anyone know (first-hand experience or source-able reporting) if there was/is any truth to that? Also, how are 2S7 parts for repair and barrel replacement handled?
@lockervomhocker9795
@lockervomhocker9795 Год назад
Sure not all 2S7 were retro-fitted by the orcs. Maybe compare that with german gepards. Original they had up to 500 of those. in early 2000 years only a couple of them got that upgrade to PLC. these are the ones they sent so ukraine last year

Just imagine a 203mm Excalibur round for these ;) would get a range over 70km easily or an upgrade to the BAE Archer with this barrel and updated loading system for this calibre

I was under 155mm fire. In the Falklands war. From the Argies. That was bad enough never mind 203mm shells. You need to dig deep and hug the ground.
