For secret ship In order to unlock the Sorcer Striker ships, you must input the following sequence at the title screen after inserting a credit: Up(x2), Down(x2), Left, Right, Left, Right, A, B, C, Start.

I feel like these devs played the touhou shooters, thought they were too easy and made their own shooter.

Battle Garegga came earlier than the first Touhou, though... Besides, there was it's own arcade scene, so it has nothing to do with it.

ZUN did work at Taito, another shmup dev, but Raizing has a well earned reputation of being uniquely cruel and punishing if you so much as pick up too many items. Check out the 1-player high score runs of this game sometime, they get hit on purpose a LOT to keep the game somewhat manageable. (And so every extra life they get counts.)
