Had 2 horses at different times as a young kid. I haven't been on one in years but i grew up riding in Little Rock and Conway AR. This is normal to me. Good stuff!
In Cali and have been on a horse no more than three times in my entire life but love watching this spectacle of equine talent, ridership, and camaraderie. Just damn awesome!
This is fun to watch. It would be interesting to see a line of these horses breed for endurance. I believe with good breeding; the fast racking horse could outperform the Arabs.
It depends. Gaited horses used to haul owners long distance in the Appalachians to and from work. Some cases, the owners fell asleep from a hard day of work but the horse got the human home safe and sound. As far as very long distance hard varied terrain, I would agree with another commenter, Arabs (or some Arab crosses) are less stressed and have more endurance. But, seeing if generations of selected breeding of racking horses with Arabians could end up in an interesting profile of the best of both.
I agree it would take several generations of select breeding. The breed wouldn't have to be super-fast. just faster than an Arabs trot. The right breeders and the right horses could start competing and maybe winning the shorter races IMO. 25 milers and maybe the 50 milers. If I had enough money, I would try it.
You think a slow Rack uses more energy than a trot. If it is, then do you think a racking horse could rack a little faster than the trot of an Arab for 25 or 50 miles. That would be the goal. The average speed is between 5 and 8 mph I believe.
@@veppep4684 A naturally gaited breed such as a foxtrotter or a stepping pace TWH would have the best chance since they would travel relaxed not in high collection. Breeding in the Arab would necessitate some sort of tampering to get the 4 beat gait. The Arabian/STB trotter cross has worked well for 25 and 50 miles races going at a fast trot, no galloping which is more tiring.
It’s too bad white folks can’t or won’t take care of their Walkers. I saw none of the big platform shoes that makes their horses step so unGodly high. And I pray the horses in the video where not “nicked” (made sore). I didn’t see any head bobbing that would indicate sore feet. Great job! Loved the video!! ❤
I am white, but have always liked many of the same things black people love... the food, the music, rabbit hunting and fast racking horses... and football.
Like the intro (blues,-blues/rock- true American Music). Also like a prepared dirt track. Lots of riding on concrete at fast paces is hard on equine joints over time.
At approx. 20:24=2x2 Open Outlaw Shootout: what is the harness like system that goes from the saddle then around the upper parts of the front and back legs. Never saw anything like that. What is it and what is the purpose for?
