Something that is not noted in this video, but is good to know, is that chips that have been set to be your regular chip cannot be used to trigger a DoubleSoul. I ran into this when I tried to set a chip for GutsSoul and the DoubleSoul option never lit up when I had it selected, but did for other chips in my hand. This happens for all the versions of 4 and 5.
As exclusively a PvE player, I never understood why competitive players had so much beef with Roll Soul. Yeah, the healing is annoying, but that's about it. I never knew it DELETED YOUR HAND if they landed their charge shot.
The contrast of Roll looking so sweet and innocent, then learning what her soul does. Really re-contextualizes that smile as "Does this look like the face of mercy?"

Can't believe I was today's year old when I found out that Roll Soul straight up just deletes your chip in hand. And here I thought that Roll.EXE was going to stop at her headband things, considering her other moves when you fight her-
It also opens up your folder quite a bit if you can play around it with RollSoul as your focus since you won’t need as many recovery chips since the RollSoul’s passive ability to recover HP for just using ANY Chip means that you basically have 3 turns where you don’t have to worry as much about taking damage.
I played Blue Moon as a kid for Protoman Soul and never realized how broken Roll Soul is. Definitely think Red Sun is better competitively. Air soul is crazy too. My friend used to use Air soul to bring you to the front, wind rack to the back then lance. Good times
I love this video it’s very informative. Everything about this video is fire and super accurate except for the part about Guts soul because guts souls punch does not break shields that’s metal soul. But my favorite soul out of all of the souls in battle net work for is definitely guts soul. Such a great vid Bro!!!
@@friendlyanomaly6109 Actually, having watched a bit more of 4 without modcards involved, I'm softening on it a bit, it's alright to watch. With modcards it becomes a huge slog, both players have inflated health pools, ridiculous chip recovery, their B button is doing three different things, it's nuts. But as far as baseline gameplay, 3, 4 and 5 have a problem where they way overtuned defensive chips like barriers, invis and auras. 3 especially because of the weird ways its defensive chips work compared to later games, but 4 and 5 still let you bring way too many defenses. 5 in particular, the chips just aren't powerful enough, so fights tend to become a really frustrating slow grind of getting through all of your opponent's antidamage and antinavi and invis and barrier200 and their lifeaura so you can finally start hitting them. And god help you if you're up against a toadsoul player who's good at hiding in sea panels.
I hope in Legacy Collection pvp they nerf Roll Soul so it only destroys the first stocked chip rather than all of them, or make its charge time impractical for spaming.

Also a note about Guts Soul because it wasn't explicitly stated, but uh. It doesn't care if the chip dims the screen or not. Navi chips like KendoMan or VideoMan? +30. HolyDream? +30. _Bass??_ *_+30._* It's crazy how wide the gap in power between the two "first" souls you get. Aqua Soul gets a whole four chip lines to buff, while Guts Soul just gives a free Attack+30 to everything. (At least both of their charge shots are lame!) Only issue is the lack of Full Synchro double damage but uh, that rarely matters. Honestly a way more fair comparison is comparing Guts Soul to Metal Soul, which is similarly explosive. Though, Metal Soul can't affect screen dim chips, so... I think Guts Soul is better. Funny no one really pays attention to it since other souls (especially Roll "What Chips" Soul) kind of overshadow it.

To anyone playing competitive, asking because strictly sticking to the story(PvE), does the Roll Arrow chip get the banhammer for the same reason as Roll Soul?
I wish they could have added a secret command to use GutsPunch insteaad of the MachineBusterGun, but oh well... the invencibility is still good doh lool but they could let it have more abilities. But also, since this soul is the first, they should nerf a little rsrs And being able to use Magnum which is a Dimming chip that would make Gutssoul much more useful.. not broken since lat egame you wont be needing for long range attacks that takes a second to hit.
Everyone is talking about how broken RollSoul is (and it is), but I don't see anyone talking about how broken SearchSoul is in both pve and pvp. I mean, you can just fix your hand for three turns straight, that's kind of insane. I pretty consistently get a giga or at least two pieces of a PA in my hand by turn 2 if not all three pieces, and I get to do that for another two turns afterward if the fight is even still happening. Not to mention this game has a good amount of crazy damage on mega chips, I legit can just fish for Godhammer and win most virus encounters easily.

I wanted to like BN 4 so much but the weak story and giant TOURNAMENT ARC! Only to finish the game with only half the souls was so lame. I was NOT about to play this week installment 3 times over gg. I loved the battle theme tho
Technically, the souls you mentioned as non elemental could still be of the element of their chips, because all those chips had no weaknesses in all games except 6
