Battle of Coral Sea by John Landry - USS Midway Museum
John Landry with the USS Midway Museum in San Diego presented the Museum’s lecture “Battle of the Coral Sea”. John explains the background, goals, and strategies for both the US and Japan, He details the minute-by-minute events of the battle between May 4 to May 8, which was the first naval battle between aircraft carriers where all battle damage was done only by aircraft without either battle groups seeing the other. The battle stopped Japan’s advance in the Pacific and was critical for the US victory at Midway just one month later.
