Such a large numerical disadvantage will tend to increase your losses. The Soviets are getting better by this stage of the war. And German units were getting to be very poor quality by this stage of the war. A lot of those German troops were likely untrained Volksturm armed with nothing but rifles and panzerfausts.

Pretty much every battle at the end of the war from the Vistula to Berlin they had a good K/D ratio. This is because who takes the heavier casualties comes down less to the individual fighting prowess of soldiers and more to who has the most artillery and aircraft.

Berlin was nearly equal, tho I do agree. At the same time tho, the battles grew smaller in size and larger scopes of territory were taken per day, and instead of using frontlines, artillery was used. These are mostly the only reasons the Soviets kept a good K/D ratio the moment they entered the Danzig area. If the soviets used their meat-shield and scorched earth techinques that they used to defend Stalingrad (etc), they would probably still win but with a worse K/D ratio

@@unsecularsanatan Hitler told them to keep pushing despite them telling him that they should stop, not only winter dramaticly slowed them down, but they were stretching their supply lines too much and resistance was more and more fierce. If they wanted to take Moscow, they should have dug in and prepared

im pretty sure the germans had a lot more soliders than that. wikipedia lista around 700,000. so did the soviets. they list 2 million.

Keep in mind at this point the Germans were already scraping the bottom of the barrel in an effort to stave off defeat. Only 100,000 Germans would be present in the following battle of berlin.
