Battle of Series 3! Bowers and Wilkins Matrix 804 vs DM604 - for $600-1000

Face Off involves the Series 3 Vintage Bowers & Wilkins (B&W) Matrix 804 s1 and the DM604 s3. Both speakers can be found around the $600-1,000 range on the used market.
I use both a solid state and tube amp on them. I prefer tubes. They don't seem hard to drive, but I use big, heavy, powerful amplifiers with TONS of current. I like the B&W used market, and so do many people. They're EXTREMELY popular speakers, and they tend not to last if priced well.
Correction(s):
B&W's use a rubber and not foam surround for their speakers.
A few times I mentioned the wrong B&W model number for the statement I made. (ex. 802,804,604, etc.)
Future:
Moved these Matrix 804s to the surrounds, and I am using the Matrix 802 80's as the mains. Greatly enjoy them. More to come in the future!

Yes I still love my 604S3 just because of the base drivers. I have a large room, and love the modern music like Tiesto so I need a speaker that can perform. Driven by a Crown XLS1502 they perform very well and base is very solid, without loosing clearance in the midst and highs.

Hello I have DM 603 S3 is it worth to upgrade to DM 604 S3, i don't talk about bass if i want more bass i will add multi subwoofers.

Well, it depends. If you do it right, and don't mind looking for them, you might be able to upgrade for free, or make a few bucks on them. But it takes patience. Summer/Spring is the best time to buy, worse time to sell. I would not pay much more for the upgrade. So if you can be patient, then you'll get them sold at higher prices and find them at lower prices... The 604 do have a bit more base. From my understanding, the two bottom "speakers" are actually ports. While in the 604's they're active drivers and woofers. I had a pair of 603's s2 and s1. Never had s3 603's. And, a sub works better then these. But if you live in an apartment (like I do), you may not want a sub. So these will give you natural sound and deep low ends without shaking the neighbors. Also, a sub works better cause you can better position them. Also, at lower Hz, the D-Class Amps can be extremely powerful and very good. We're as SOME people say that they are not as good in the mids and highs. From my experience though, this is not true. No one I know would claim the same when it gets down in the Hz. The 603's are very good. So if you're happy. Keep them.
