The issues you're having with these belly band holsters would definitely be remediated by actually putting this on your belly. Maybe this video should be redone?

I haven't ever been that interested in a belly band until I actually got one and they are by far the best way to carry truly concealed. I have that Comfort Tac I got off Amazon as a gift for Christmas. I wear it when I walk my dog wearing active yoga type long pants with shorts overtop and an under armor undershirt and a hoodie. It works great with my P365 and will hold two extra mags and a knife and flashlight or OC Spray and since mine is a 2019 model it has that seperate specific magazine pouch that you can put anywhere and it was very comfortable so much I kept it on all day and made trips to the grocery store after my walk and trips to work to run into my Headquarters to do some computer work then stops in convient store and now sitting at my desk it's on...for $19.99 it's amazing considering I have HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS of dollars in all types of excellent holsters. It works for my mid-size CZP07 AND P10 as well as my Ruger LCR revolver but really feels the best with my P365. You can also wear it up high just under your chest and all different areas like appendix to where ever. I prefer 3 to 330 so my natural fall of my arms completely covers my buldge. BY THE WAY I DON'T USE THE STRAP...The one that came with my newer model Comfort Tac has a snap strap but i just tuck it behind the band. Also not sure why you tested this type of holser with a belt as it's designed to use without any belt at all.

I don’t get using a belly band as an IWB for the reason demonstrated. If you want to go IWB/AIWB, use a holster dedicated for the purpose. Otherwise, this is simply a 10X Tactical commercial.

@@jaydouglas8845 Yeah, Jay I agree. I have a thick leather Carhartt work belt I could hang a .50 BMG on if I felt the need but I’m feeling now all this emphasis on Tactical Gear is overkill for us average Joe Blows. This Smart Carry thing works just fine. I adapted my clothing a little bit to make the draw easier, though: bought some khakis with the EZ-Fit sort of elastic waistband, replacing the usual fixed-size slacks and changed from any kind of leather belt to a Walmart stretch web belt. All looks nice, shirt tucks in, etc. But now I can more easily open up with the weak hand and draw with the strong. Works quite well with the Thunderwear/Smart Carry-type rig and probably any belly band or other below-the-belt system like the Enigma.

I wear a belly band all the time. Because it doesn't pull the pants downward from the weight. @WhoIsJoeShmoe
@WhoIsJoeShmoe 5 лет назад
@@richlabombard6780 - I'm not the same person you were asking, but I carry a 1911 in condition 1 as well. I've mainly carried in an Alien Gear Cloak Tuck 3.5 and a Crossbreed Supertuck. The Crossbreed requires some break-in time just like any leather IWB holster, and it took some real breaking in to get to the point where drawing was easy (it required both hands when it was brand-spanking-new) but I like them both. The Alien Gear requires virtually no break-in and is considerably more comfortable/breathable because it's neoprene and rubber, but is also less durable for the same reason. That being said, I've made my fair share of suboptimal decisions in life. I wouldn't recommend carrying a 1911 (in any condition) to a newbie. As much as I love them, there are plenty of lighter-weight, higher-capacity options out there that don't require you to train to hit a thumb safety as an extra step. I carry one because it's what I know and what I like, plus I already had plenty of magazines and ammo by the time I could get my permit so I valued compatibility. It's definitely a decision to be made on an individual basis, though.

Might as well be carrying a brick. The 2-3 seconds it'll take you to draw, chamber a round, drop the safety, then pull the trigger. Is 2-3 seconds you won't have if you're actually in a situation where you need a gun. You'll be knocked down and/or shot seven times before your finger ever graces the trigger

On the 10x, as you draw push the loop forward as one motion with going up and towards target. Much smoother as opposed to pulling loop back then moving hand and pistol up and forward. Also putting the locking loop on all of them over what is at that position, the loosest point of security. Pull it over the top of the slide. It’s much more secure.

Was looking to purchase this belly holster. Previously I used a couple with a velcro retention system over the pistol grip. In my humble opinion the belly holster should ONLY be used if you wear sweat pants, basketball shorts or other similar athletic wear. It makes NO sense to utilize a belly band holster if you're wearing pants with a belt (you should just use an in-the-pants holster, there are many out there that are comfortable and aren't bulky). Since I've been wearing belly band holster for years this 10 X model seems great because of that tab release (eliminating having to reach your finger into your pants to release the retention system), I've used the velcro for years so my motor skills are pretty fluid WEARING ATHLETIC WEAR. Wearing pants you're always going to snag your finger or struggle to draw. And of course, I went on Amazon and they're sold out, with a caption that states we dont know if this stock will be replenished. Which sucks, because this would seem to be the most desired fit out there. Just an opinion from an LEO.

One change to the middle one would make it better. (If you are going to wear it all the way down inside your pants that way.) Make the strap coming across the top, from leather. Make it reach just far enough over the handle of the gun that the end is on the outside side of the handle of the gun. Put the male part of the snap on the end of that. Now put another leather snap on the outside of the holster with the female part of the snap on that. Pull the back strap over the handle. Push the outer strap against it to snap it together. Now, to draw the gun, simply push outward on the outer leather strap to unsnap it and draw. You could almost do it in one motion.

Living in SoFla I spend a good amount of time walking around in bathing trunks. The only use these belly bands are good for is to be worn high on your waist and over your trunks with a subcompact gun such as a Shield or a J Frame for a quick draw option and of course covered with a nice loose t-shirt . By wearing them over your trunks or pants you eliminate the issue of digging inside your pants for the retention snap. The neoprene looses it grip fast after some use and will come undone and you will drop your weapon if you're not paying attention. Thank God that only happened while I was still home and was able to catch the gun on the way down and without issues because the trigger is covered in these bands. The second time it happened I threw the thing in the trash. If you're going to use a belly band the best bet is an elastic one with velcro and fussy side combination. I have adapted something I saw on line where I will wear my leather belt with the holster over my bare skin under my trunks with the gun grip sticking out of the waist line in a normal AIWB or 1-4oclock position. Once I pull the trunks over the belt and gun I will slide the trunks elastic band under the holster clip to make sure I don't loose the gun under the trunks' elastic/draw string. I wish I could remember whose video it was but he carried his gun this way with one of those stiff nylon tactical belts, but because it chaffed his bare skin he had to adapt a bicycle tire tube to fit over the belt. I have worn the leather belt and holster on bare skin for over six hours multiple times and have yet to have any issues. It's a hybrid holster, leather backing with kydex shell.

These work well even if you wear a belt. Since it’s so much wider than a belt the actual force per square inch on you is much less. You also never feel like a gun is hanging off of you. The concealed nature is also better because their is no clip so it’s much smoother and it’s very close to you. Mine also has an extra mag holder that is Velcro removable. It’s nice going to the bathroom if you use a public bathroom and the gun isn’t connected to your pants or belt. I don’t use the retention strap and have never felt worried at all. They put the strap on for people who are vigorously exercising. I don’t use mine for normal daily use. The only bad part is reholstering is tough. I also use it with guns with an external safety since it doesn’t have a hard shell.

I don’t EVER put my trigger finger on the trigger until I’m ready to fire but with the safety I don’t stand the chance of the trigger being activated by something getting in the guard activating the trigger by mistake! I have always had guns with safety’s so I have always trained with them. I started shooting before Glocks were invented and that no safety trend became so popular. Hooray, for old school!!!

I have used the comfort tac belt when I would carry a small pistol in a loose short, the system seemed designed more for thr band to be at your belly area so the hook and loop was accessible. If its there the draw is actually not bad because as you reach for the gun sliding your hand across would actually be effective enough to undo the hook and loop. Worked for me but the material was the down fall.

The idea of a belly band holster is not to be used as a regular holster would, but as an alternative when you are not wearing a belt. For example with athletic pants or shorts and you would wear the belly band a little higher than the waist, not like with regular pants.

I’d just cut off that retention strap on any of these. In a stressful situation, why would you want to be worrying about that. I do like the fact that these can be used in the summer with shorts and a loose T-shirt. I’ve seen vids where they’re worn higher up so they’re not truly IWB holsters. May have to grab one and try it out. I saw one on Amazon that had a moveable mag pouch - sized properly for a mag.

As others have said, I don't think belly bands were designed to be worn that low. I personally don't think any soft structured holster IWB is a good idea for various reasons.

I'm guessing holstering should be done like a pocket carry holster. Holster the gun, then put it on. As for the over the top retention strap, is it possible to go over the slide instead of going around the grip?
@pfogg1
@pfogg1 6 лет назад
Maybe instead of the pulltab, two separate tabs that velcro together? They would have to be made of nylon webbing instead of neoprene probably because you wouldn't want them to stretch too much and separate the velcro. Just a thought. Also, pretty cool that 10X is responding to comments.

With the last one you checked I think that tab should go over the back of the slide and when you draw you should be able to draw without having to pull the tab up and over but it should be more of a organic movement when you draw it slides forward over the slide so one quick movement

What if you pull the tab off towards the slide of the gun instead of pulling it off at the grip ? It looks like it might be faster and less travel. Either way I like the last one better, great video! 👍🏻

I know I am late to this but if you don't wear these partially In your waist band...only partially...so if the velcro fail and it will fail at some point you won't have it drop to the ground.

Jesus that was nerve wracking to watch. That one that you reach down and have to swipe up to undo the snap, can you imagine if you pressed into the trigger guard while doing that. They all suck though. I understand some people want the cheapest thing they can get but seriously get a good leather, kydex or hard plastic type holster. You can get decent basic hard shell holsters from concealment express I believe it is for like $35( not sure if it's kydex or molded plastic of some kind but it's still good). Got one for my shield and it works fine. If you want to spend more Vedder holsters are my favorite but for the love of god no one should by a straight neoprene holster to hold a loaded gun...especially one without a safety. You should have some better protection of the trigger guard.

Unless you're doing tumbling moves while carrying, what's the purpose of the straps? Your belt and the belly are keeping the gun from moving. Anything else is flotsam...i.e. junk getting in your way.

It would seem to me the primary advantage of any belly band is versatility (ie. ability to adjust between appendix, cross, chest, deep, etc.), so using these in just one position really and offering up a recommendation solely on that basis really doesn't give them much of a fair shake. I'm not sure a belly band would be my primary choice for deep, so on that point I'd agree - reading reviews, it seems that in just about any other position they have more fans than critics... Just FYI it also appears comforttec may have done away with the tab/hook and gone to a snap. I bet any of these would make a fine addition!

The hook and loop might be best being pushed out of the way with your fingers on the down stroke. Use any of the 4 fingers, should be hard to miss with fingers together

i had a tornado holster the button snap was on your thumb side of the firearm simular to releasing te safety on a 1911 u swipe ur thumb down it catches the tab and pops the button meanwhile ur hand is on the gun at all times. should just incorporate that.

You're already doing a two-hand draw: Left-hand for the shirt & right-hand for the gun.... So, I would modify that two-handed draw: Try using your left-hand for BOTH the shirt & the tab. That might make your draw faster & more fluid. I envision a couple of different ways to do this technique... So, don't give up on the first attempt.

That's why you ride the shit above your waste line my man. I get what your saying, but there's so many levels to strap this belt on that don't require smashing it into your actual belt line That just complicates the hell out of it even more.

I'm not sold. In order to draw you still have 2 separate motions. granted, it's much better than the other two. The only retention I see as usable in a life/death scenario is either a form fitted style with no retention or a thumb break that you flip with your thumb as you're forming your grip in the same motion. I have a bunch of OWB holsters yet one of the best is an old leather pancake holster I bought used at some gun show decades ago for next to nothing. Once you insert the gun a leather strap comes over the grip from the outside and snaps inside to a tab - the side towards your body. As I reach in to grab the gun my thumb just has to bump that tab and it unsnaps for me every time just as I get the grip in my hand, yet, I've never had it come undone when I didn't want it to. It all happens in only one motion. So simple yet so secure, I don't know why none of these manufacturers aren't incorporating this now! Sorry 10X, my search continues. "Hook & Loop" is Velcro, not the hook you're talking about. Granted, that system is all wrong and will get you killed. Finally, WTF is with the gloves??? Who goes to the range and tries to draw fast with gloves on???

Please please read this for your own good. You are missing the point of belly bands entirely and making a bit of a fool of yourself. If you are going to carry a big gun like a glock 19 and be wearing a giant gun belt of course you would be better off with a holster! The belly band is for deep concealment usually of small guns when you don't have a belt!!! Say a woman in yoga pants or dress. A guy in sweatpants or surf trunks. If you are going to evaluate a product please at least have some idea of how it's supposed to be used. Try with an appropriate size gun and clothing. Also realize it's not a training device!!! You put your gun in it and you leave it there until you need it to defend yourself... in other words probably never! The test you have devised is ludicrous. Its not a speed holster! It's a way to be able to carry when other options aren't available to you! Get it together man. You might be discouraging someone from carrying because they think there's no viable option for them. I would never put anything bigger than a single stack or an air weight revolver in one of those things. Think ankle holster size.

Michael Resmini I had the exact same thought. If you're wearing normal clothes with a belt, just put on a normal IWB holster. Belly bands are for those times when you're wearing clothing that cannot accommodate a normal holster.

I wear my belly band with dress clothes and everything else. The problem with all holsters is you always see the clip. Also, belly bands are less bulk than pretty much every holster. I carry a G19 with a light on it and a spare 17 mag. Opinions are like..

Fee_ Lo super late reply but this is the comment I've been searching for. I'm looking to get the P365 in a few months but All I wear are sweat pants and gym shorts. Only wear Jeans if I'm going to church or on a date with the wife. Every holster I have seen just doesn't look like it would work unless I wear a belt. And I'm not about to change my entire wardrobe and be uncomfortable just so I can carry. A belly band is looking like my only option for every day carry other then once or twice a week when I wear jeans. Unless there is a better option I just haven't found yet from the research I have done.

To those who complain that the belly band should never be in the waistband, bear in mind you do not want to fight muscle memory, and if you are in gym shorts and you're accustomed to IWB, then this would be a good way to do it when hitting the gym, or dealing with the hottest few months of the year.

My comfort tac doesn't have a hook it's a snap. The company that sent that sent you that one to throw you off my suggestion is to get those other bands from the company it's self and not rely on the company that asked you to do the comparisons. That way you do your own research and get the best one each company offers that would be a good comparison. This was biased by the company that suggested the comparison.

I feel like reviews like this are set up a bit dishonestly. This is a BELLY band holster, which means it's supposed to be worn on the BELLY or around the chest. I'm sure that if they had been worn properly the results would have been MUCH different!

Dunno. As an older fat man, I would be unable to concealed carry inside my belt. I was hoping to conceal above my belt along floating rib line. Your demo tells me this belly band does not work for me. At 30 with 30 inch waist it might have worked decades ago. Your demo would be better for my thoughts if the. Entire belt bottom was adjacent to top seam on trousers. And draw from wide not appendix. Thanks for your posting. I know it takes effort to do them.
