Understand the armies, commanders and tactical challenges of a defining battle in world history. Hear how the League of Augsburg approach gaming it and how to get it on your tabletop easily and quickly.
A very enjoyable war gaming video... you can tell that because it's a period I know nothing about and have no minis for but now I'm off to ponder on doing some shopping.
I really enjoyed that. The mixture of battlefield photographs and tabletop action works very well. The music and sound effects are a nice atmospheric touch too. I always did like Lillibulero. Thanks Barry.
Well Barry, I just shelled out a crap load of money to purchase a complete set of the 2d WoFun plexiglass miniatures so that I can start playing this wonderful game that I have owned the rules and scenario books for quite a while. I just am not willing or able to paint all the miniatures required, so I finally broke down and got the nice "War of Spanish Succession" set from WoFun. Cannot wait to play the Boyne and Aughrim, as well as the bigger battles of the Nine Years War. I know the uniforms and flags will be a bit off, but not by much and I will be thrilled to simulate the battles of this very interesting period.
Excellent video Barry! Great to see the real life locations as well as all that eye candy and a neat concise account of the action. First class and an inspiration for me to crack on with my Williamite wars project. Looking forward to seeing more. 👍 Cheers Keith
Nice video Barry. Gives a great over view with real world shots of the sites. Only real complaint is, if this is a tutorial there is no context for the die rolls. Why did we throw X # and what was needed, etc. But it was a wonderfully produced video.
Thanks Joe. I made a very conscious decision not to slow the pace down with the die roll explanations. Those can come in rule specific tutorials. I have already produced the full set for Mad for War and those will drip out over Spring. For Beneath the Liily Banners, Republic to Empire and Donnybrook, we'll do a similar disection of the rule sequence and mechanics. In short, I just wanted to provide you with a little Ireland excitement! :)
@@leagueofaugsburg9036 Nice! Looking forward to it! As I am starting off in the game :) I like a bit 20km away from the Battlefield and it is a very interesting site to explore. I imagine it must be good battle to game too
Appreciated Paul. The Boyne is often referred to but frequently misunderstood. I just wanted to put a few things out there for the community to ponder.
Great video Barry but one request from someone who has a hearing problem. Can you reduce the background music/gunfire because at times it was difficult to hear what you were saying. Very realistic from a command control aspect but challenging for a an elderly observer.
Lillibulero. A marching song from the period. It is a Protestant satire although several sources believe the melody to be an Irish and possibly Jacobite tune. It is an established marching tune in the British Army.
Hello D, I will be adding instructional videos on this channel soon in the form of my Mad for War turotirals for my naval rules. Stick with and they'll come! regards
@@leagueofaugsburg9036 too late, I'm already getting stuck in. Ordered "Every Bullet has a Billet" and a few other new books to supplement the old magazine articles and the Anschluss Publishing and Raider Games books I still have
