I’ve been obsessed with mousse only wash and go’s lately! Please make this a series! Pattern Mousse, The Doux Bee Girl Mousse, Camille Rose Spiked Honey Mousse, Mielle Pomegranate & Honey Mousse, Verb Foaming Gel, Aveda Mousse, Lotta Body Foam, Aunt Jackie’s Frizz Patrol, Eden Body Works Papaya Castor Foaming Conditioner! 🩷
@@cuteprettynailsshop You’ll love it! It’s a bit light for a wash and go on type 4 hair, but I love the scent, slip, and moisture I get from it otherwise! Hope you love it!
Very pretty. And I agree, Design Essentials did give more definition to your natural curls. I am glad you did this comparison. Now I am going to use Design Essentials mousse.
Thanks for making this video. I am usually not a mousse person, but lately I have been using the Camille Rose Spiked Honey mousse. It is not sticky and it leaves your hair so soft.
Try The doux next please. Both of their mousses are BOMB but I love the honey one just a little more. Soooo good! I’m gonna have to try the design essentials one after seeing your results.
As a professional stylist, I absolutely love the Influance Honey Almond Mousse for myself and my clients. Influance to me is what Design Essentials used to be before they started making more commercial grade products. Sorry y’all, it’s for professionals only, but I know y’all are licensed cosmetologists as well. It’s VERY concentrated and can be used on its own (I apply a light spray leave in before I apply it) or I like to use it and apply The Doux’s Big Poppa gel as a topper gel after it’s about 50-60% air dried. I’ve tried The Doux’s Mousse Def and didn’t care for it as much, it worked on some clients, but not myself (according to the EXACT instructions; if you follow the owner of The Doux she is big on following the instructions on the product label). The Influance Coconut mousse is not great for wash and go’s, but it is great for roller setting as it gives a nice firm hold.
Lovvveeeeddd how your hair turned out on both sides! 😍😍😍😍 I love a good fluffy wash & go! To echo everyone else (lol) you 1000% need to try The Doux Mousse Def mousse if you haven’t already! It provides moisture, definition, & hold so it’s a good one for one product wash & gos too! 🙌🏾
The Mielle Pomegranate and honey mousse is a good one and I personally like it more than The Doux. Also one surprising one is the Maui Moisture coconut milk mousse, that thing leaves a serious cast, definitely need something underneath it or you'll be crispy crunchy lol.
I've never been able to get a gel to work in my hair so I always use mouse on my curly hair. Design Essential mouse is my favorite mouse for my hair! It gives my hair great volume & hold to last against the NC humidity!
Kelsey, I have been loving the SheaMoisture Manuka Honey & Yogurt Smooth & Hold Multi-Styling Hair Mousse with Mafura and Baobab Oils. She leaves my hair super soft!
Kelsey I like the Design Essentials side also, your hair was more defined! ❤❤❤ I feel the same way about mousse, it used to make my hair soo dry. They have definitely reinvented mouse! I’m gonna have to try this one. But I like that the other mouse made your hair soft. Tfs 🥰💕
Kelsey you should try Pattern Beauty curl mousse it’s the truth! And everyone raves about the doux mousse I tried it, it gave me excellent hold/definition but it had my hair so dry 😢 I’m 3C/4A as well, and YES please do a video of the products that you an Kendra didn’t like! Oh and design essentials mousse made my hair sticky maybe cause I co washed🤷🏾♀️
I am a Mousse girl. Love the Mielle with Melanin hair care leave-in under it. It cuts down my drying time and last for 3-4 days. Leaves my hair so soft. 😊 I use the blueberry oil at night from Curls before my bonnet
My favorite mousse is from The Doux! But if you try it PLEASE read the directions. It's meant to be used alone (not with leave ins and other products underneath). You can use a topper gel on top of it, but in order to get the best results don't use a leave in under it (or at least not a heavy one). I would also highly recommend difusing or using a hooded dryer for the wash and go, because in all reality it IS a wet set hair style. So if you want the best wash and go (and to not have as much shrinkage), diffuse to dry.
Design Essentials mousse is everything girl! I use that for my permrod sets on blowdried hair, I use it to do my pigtail braids on each side on blowdried hair then I take my braid out and my hair is wavy and I style it in 2 pigtail wavy ponytails (one of each side) Love it! And the smell lasts in my hair until my next wash day which is 7 days later. Its super moisturizing on my natural hair. I have never tried a wash & go with it and was planning on doing a wet low ponytail and after seeing your video I definitelt have the confidence not to try it. I have been using this mousse for 2 to 3 years now. Thabks for the video. Blessings~
I STILL use mousse( Smooth n Shine bodifying black and pink can) in conjunction with Ors's Elastic I Tea setting lotion on my roller sets because if I don't my sets won't have the memory in my big curls/waves once it's dry plus there's great ingredients in both. Yeah we can't do dry or crunchy😂🤣 so this update on trying these current formulas is super duper helpful so thank you K 🥰😍.
Yes I’m so glad you did this I have always wanted to try out a mousse but I was so scary I didn’t know how it would come out I really like the design essentials brand I will definitely try this out!!!! Thanks for sharing 💕💕
I've discovered mousse this year too after using gel. I love how healthy my hair feels. I've tried Texture ID but I need to try Design Essentials and that combo.
I love moose and your hair came out so pretty! I have a few favorites and some I want to try myself… the doux (both of them, Camille rose naturals, lotta body, pattern beauty, Miche, shea moisture coconut & hibiscus, ausie moist, the L’Oréal one in the silver cans, not your mothers
I loved this video & what you discovered about using mousse on YOUR hair. I found out my hair loves The Doux and Design Essentials on my hair in it's naturally curly state. I use mousse for twist outs. I found out my hair loves Moisture Miracle Rose Water & Argan Oil Curl Mousse, Beautiful Textures Curl Definer Mousse and The Mane Choice Pink Lemonade & Coconut Mousse, The Doux and Design Essentials when my hair has been blown out or straightened by flat irons, I get hold for at least 5 days before I refresh my roller set or twist out. I get great results with those products. I would like to try one more mousse and that is Hawiian Silky Triple Butter Mousse because of all the butters my hair likes. My hair is very thick and very coily. My hair loves curl creams, but the mousse will dry very quickly for a beautiful last minute hair style or roller sets, I only use one pump as well. I have not used a leave in under my mousses before and I may have to experiment doing that to see how my hair responses. Thank you for this video. Love it. :o)
I have a question and I hope you’d answer it in one of your future videos one day: I know that long natural hair is your brand, but if it weren’t, would u do something different and daring to your hair? Or desire an updated look (not to say your hair is outdated but you’ve had the same look for many years)? Such as a short hair cut, coloring your hair, trying weaves or wigs, etc.
Hi there. Thanks for the video. Love it!! Can't wait to see more curly hair videos. Please advise when AND how often u or ur sister sleeps with deep conditioner in ur hair?
I love the Texture ID foam to refresh a week old wash and go. It gives much better hold and definition when there's already product in your hair. So if I'm too lazy to do a full wash day...I'll refresh with Texture ID foam only. I get a bomb wash and go for another 5 days. I keep bottles of the stuff in my collection.
If anyone is on a cheap budget, White Rain mousse works well on natural hair. It produces a nice wavy definition on twistouts that's more of a SOFTER look versus a more tight defined twist out. It's only about $2 at Family Dollar!
And as for a wash and go, use a humectant like honey hydrate as a leave-in, and then use mousse. Over the days, the humectant keeps the hair hydrated and the mousse keeps the curls defined. Mousse isn't always paired well with creams. Humectants allow the mist from shower to reset the hair to look like day 1 hair. Buy products that do the work. A wash and go should not need so many products,
I'm hoping that you use The Doux Mousse Def. Also It's Natural has 3 styling foams (that I know of) in Honey Almond, Rosemary and Coconut milk. I'd like to see the results that you get from each one. I think that both sides of your hair turned out well. The Design Essentials side looked more defined. But your hair looked healthy overall.
The mousse I had been using for years to style my curls was Jane Carter Solution Wrap & Roll Mousse. However, the company was taken over and it's no longer the same formula. I'm on my last bottle that I've had for a few years.
We have the same curl pattern not sure about the porosity I LOVE thr Doux mousse Def BUT you can not use a leave in it defines ALOT bout it’s fluffy it has leave in conditioner built into the mousse
I think the front of everyone's hair is the problem areas for styling breakage it's the area we pull tug use heat the most it's exposed to elements outside most I never had luck with using mousse either have tried every brand on shelf just about recently the mousse deff line.
Hey Kelsey! This hairstylist told me that when you spray water on your hair that’s in a water bottle she told me to use bottled water to put in the water bottle to use on my hair. She was like it’s not good to use tap water. But she said if you use tap water that you have to boil it first before you use it on your hair in a spray water bottle. So is that true that your suppose to do that?
