I'm not from the UK but goddamn do they ever make rock. I didn't even know most of those bands were from the UK. Hands down I can say UK wins this one.
I mean the UK MADE metal and punk and has to win those scenes. 60s rock was pretty much a UK scene too with Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, The Who, and Led Zep (as well as some heavier Beatles songs). The US has unbeatable bluesy and more country style rock though, and thrash is one of the best metal deviations and distinctly American.
The US vs UK rock rivalry is like a sibling rivalry 😅. At the end of the day, both countries appreciate each other. Thats why the rock/metal community is the best. 🤘🤘
Remember, Italian blood flows into the veins of the greatest! Vai, Satriani, Petrucci, Frusciante, Di Meola, Tremonti, Sambora, Morello, Bonamassa...so Danilo can decide :D :D :D
Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Black Sabbath, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Yardbirds, Uriah Heep, Nazareth,The Police, The Beatles,Muse,Queen, Judas Priest, Dire Straits, Iron Maiden,Cream, Derek and the Dominos, Slade, T-Rex, David Bowie,Elton John, Def Leppard, The Clash, Sex Pistols, Oasis, Motorhead, Radiohead, The Sweet, Yes,Free, The Cure, King Crimson, Genesis, Jethro Tull, Bad Company, Status Quo, Whitesnake, Rainbow, Emerson Lake & Palmer, UFO, Porcupine Tree, The Kinks, ELO, Arctic Monkeys, The Smiths, Blur and so on.
As a Brit, I'm very proud of our musical heritage but I'd hate to imagine how much poorer my life would have been without the amazing music of the USA. Culturally, the UK and USA are a musical family with musicians from both nations being heavily influenced and made welcome by their cousins from either side of the pond. Consequently, we're all winners.
@@gordoncrawford6300 young lust is a bad arse floyd riff mate but your right floyd was more about melodic keyboards from wright and soul shattering lead guitar solos from Gilmour definately not a riff band but their solos are incomparable
The Jimi Hendrix Experience was formed in the UK and both Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell were british, therefore Hendrix is technically on both sides.
It's incredible how many great and revolutionary bands are from the UK, Sabbath, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Iron Maiden, Radiohead, Led Zepplin, Queen, The Sex Pistols the list goes on and on
The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Queen, David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Elton John and much more. The first three alone are the best three banda ever. I think there is a clear winner
@@LS-qs9ju Queen is one of the most overrated bands ever, i love them, but in this case i say Pink Floyd, better musicians, way better albums, better lyrics, just Queen has a better singer, well the best of all time.
I know Jimi Hendrix is American, but the Jimi Hendrix Experience is from the UK. The 2 other band members were British. They were formed in London and produced all of their songs in London including All Along the Watchtower. Hendrix didn't have much luck in the US, so a British record producer brought him to London and the rest is history.
He is an American, who made a lot of American covers and played a lot American blues. The bass player was American, wasn't he? I don't know, my dude... Following the logic, a lot of British band recorded in the US.
I think that England 100% wins classic rock and hard rock, 100%. They have Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Queen, etc... But America wins Metal. They have Slayer, Metallica, and goddamn VAN HALEN. Van Halen and Metallica were the two bands that made this as close as it was, without those two, England wins 100% Edit: I forgot that Black Sabbath exists. England wins.
I preferred the UK but both very good. Considering the UK is so much smaller than the us with only a 5th of the population, they have amazing rock bands.
Fun fact: Most of AC/DC's band members are actually from the U.K. (Malcolm Young, Angus Young, and Bon Scott were all Scottish immigrants, while Brian Johnson and Cliff Williams were both born and raised in England).
The UK had way more classics, but the USA's songs were more challenging overall. I also had no idea that a lot of these were UK bands. I thought I would have no idea who all of the UK bands were, but I honestly knew more UK bands than USA. Ok also, where is dire straights in this. Mark Knopfler is a Legend.
@@Wolfoe-ex2jj Kind of, but if we're talking foundation, Rock n Roll was born in the US. Just a fact. I know the UK took it to another level, but maybe "foundation" isn't the right word because we all know were it began.
As soon as i saw Jimi i said ok it's over for UK nothing compares to that, and right after that u hit us with pink Floyd and I'm like who tf do i pick now🤔
It was The Jimi Hendrix Experience so not just Jimi himslef plus at that time US was too busy caring about white people THE BLACK MAN BROUGHT THE BLUES IN US WHILE THE WHITE FOLKS MASTERED IT IN THE UK But he should've added CCR instead of Jimi in US
USA Vs. UK, nah, it's more of an "iconic rock riffs from musicians of two nations." The music, no matter which side of the pond it came from, is amazing.
Hey! No Stone Roses, No Kinks, No Nirvana, No Soundgarden and so on? You Gotta make Round 2 🤣 youtube showed this video and i loved it. Thank you for playing, Sir
@@sirspongadoodle Crazy Train is overrated as hell it sounds bad compared to The Trooper or Whole Lotta Love.I do think Zeppelin has a lot better riffs than that one though
This was the coolest video I’ve seen in awhile. Great concept AND playing! All the people who thumbed this video down clearly have guitar playing envy.
i mean at the end of the day it doesnt really matter what country the music is made in. but just for my massive hatred for america i go uk, even then uk is terrible aswell.
The beatles, the rolling stones, led zeppelin, queen, the smiths, iron maiden, eric clapton, oasis, pink floyd and a fuck ton more. The UK wins without a shadow of a doubt.
If Slash (he was born in UK) is in USA riffs because of an american band, why Hendrix isn't in UK riffs? His career with the Experience were mostly from UK.
Maybe it was Izzy Stradlin who came up with that riff, not Slash. He was a part of the band too, and he played rhythm guitar. And of course, he was from USA
Kferler plant’s pretty good man. He started sounding better once his voice started to change from 1975 onwards. But unfortunately they broke up like 4 years later. U must check out his solo work post zeppelin. It’s pretty great.
The battle will always be equal because there are so many great riffs, great songs and great bands from both regions. And don't forget about the great bands from Canada and Australia and germany
Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Beatles, Stones, Dire Straits, Clapton,... wheres the competition in this? Its like letting a toddler fight against Anthony Joshua.
@Sam Lim Yes, I know. But I thought the video was about riffs that were written in both the US and the UK, and not just riffs played in both countries. So that's why I thought it was weird that he played the cover and not the original version.
To settle a debate. UK has better bands. USA has better solo artists. For example America has Michael Jackson and elvis Presley. UK has the beatles and Queen. I name these artist because I think they are the best to come from both countries. Overall I think great bands and solo artists have came from both countries but a select few have built a foundation for music and have influenced other musician throughout history and will always be remembered as one of the greats.
UK: Pink floyd, Led zeppelin, Black sabbath, Iron maiden, Blur, Joy Division, T-rex, The Clash, Oasis, Deep Purple, The rolling stones, Radiohead, Def leppard, and most importantly: *QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!* I think the Brits won once again (just like *WWII* ) oh, it's a pity we don't have Metallica or RHCP
First offense: You placed Queen above them all (although it’s just an opinion so it’s aight). Second offense: You missed several bands on the UK front, the two biggest being The Beatles as well as The Who.
