This song, “The Battle of the Somme Eve”, recounts the thoughts and feelings of one soldier, as he prepared himself for the horror which lay ahead, whilst wishing for loved ones and the comforts of home.
Performed here by Richard Laird (Guitar/Vocals), Ben McGonigle (Piano) & Tim Cairns (Flute).

I lost a great uncle in this Great War. 1st July 1916. A Belfast lad who joined the HIGHLAND LIGHT INFANTRY, because his Daddy was from Glasgow. 14727 ALEXANDER CRAIG ✝ Lest We Forget. ☘🇬🇧💔✝
