Really, dude. If it wasn't for BOTY, I don't know what state American Bboys would be in now. I do know that European videos like BOTY or Battlesquad footage that sneaked into the US in '91-'92 had a big influence on the old school/true school revival that popped off in the States shortly after.

Look..I will just say this. It will probably make some Americans mad, and I am an American. Those Asian cats are cold as hell. I didn't see anyone come close to them in regards to skill. If this was just a comp. of only Asian b-boy dancing then I am mistaken...,But Damn are they good. I am a former B-Boy of the 80's now in my 40's. These guys are doing things we never ever thought about... I am still in awe.. America we can't go out like that. WoooW

Well, I'm not sure but: R16, IBE, Redbull BCOne, Armory Cup, Style Wars, hip hop session... I can name another few. Last year's BOTY had only 14 crews, so that's not so much...

k.. those ppl saying that jabbawockeez will kill these crews in a battle (Gr33nGh0st for example).. jabbawockeez mostly does hip hop, a totally diff dance from breaking. Yea jabba is good, but in battleing, breaking already has the upperhand, and considering these ppl are hella pro, then jabbawockeez will get killed. still, mad props to all crews who go to BOTY and jabbawockeez ftw!

i find break dancing more of like a body/performing-art working in a tandem with music to get a creative flow going, more so than an actual dance...if that makes any sense haha. i meant that in a good way, i'm always amazed by what those guys do with their bodies...i guess thats why i think it's different from actual dancing cuz it's chaotic, spontaneous at times and really for the most part doesnt have structure... but damn it's awesome

I'm glad to see that the b-boy spirit is alive and well. It's a little sad to see the way that hip hop music (once such an integral part of b-boy culture) has become corporate- a commodity to be tested, formulated, and presented to the masses. But the art of breakdance is still alive- please keep it up!

I'm sorry to hear about that man. It sucks that in other countries, it doesn't begin to respect different types of arts. Like Vietnam[me], you can barely make any money, nevertheless try to through breakdancing. But it's sick how the Korean govt. has begun paying bboys because they've brought home so many titles, it's officially a career and now they can bboy 24/7.

That's KMEL he's a back up dancer for a lot of big acts(Madonna etc). You can also see him in the video where K-Fed performed on MTV. He's a fucking beast, he battled IVAN and to this day, no one can really decide who's better. They're both sick.

i dunno about it not being a sport. Some countries treat it as a sport, Korea for example. bboying is a dance, but also a sport. They even get funding from Converse, NIke, and Puma.

It was started in New York, in the Bronx to be exact, by puerto ricans bboys, like the Rock Steady Crew, but this magnificent art spread all over the world, but yes, it started in America.
