On May 27, 1905, the Baltic Fleet of Russia and the Combined Fleet of Japan led by Admiral Heihachiro Togo engaged in a naval battle off the coast of Tsushima. As a result of a fierce battle all day and night, the Japanese fleet exterminated most of the Baltic Fleet and won.
This song was created to commemorate those events by Takeki Owada for lyrics and Tokichi Setoguchi for composition.
By the way, today marks 116 years since the Battle of Tsushima broke out.
The performance is by the former Navy Band volunteers.
