Exactly the conclusions I expected you to come to and hoped for. Hoped for because otherwise I would have to buy a 240. Basically it's a heavy enough chunk of steel to be carrying around with you but also it is suprisingly good at smaller tasks. I find myself switching tools less often. Really nicely explained video mate. Keep up the good work.

Hmm I’m surprised. I actually like the 240 better. It’s more versatile. When you hold it on the top part of the handle, I’d feels almost weightless, but when you grab the bottom handle, it completely changes the balance and feel. It chops as good as a freaking hatchet. It’s like having an axe and a knife in one package. Both are great though. To each his own
What incredible tools! If I ever needed only one knife to survive, either one of these is my choice! Great to know that the 200 punches above it's weight! Compact and easier to carry on a pack! Great observation between the two! Thanks!
It definitely punches above its Weight! I love both of them, but after 2 weeks of using, the 200 is totally convincing me. It does practically everything that 240 but has such a great balance, better handle imo, fantastic with feathers and absolute beast with heavy tasks. Thanx for watching man!🌲🔪🌲
@@OldForestBushcraft Agreed! Never really cosidered the extra weight of the 240, excellent point! That's "thinking outside the box" excellent findings! Many, such as myself, never even considered that! People who say weight does not matter have no idea what it's like having to carry everything you need in a survival situation. Every kilo/pound adds up!
I have Jääkäripuukko 140 and Skrama 240, and latter rendered Jääkäripuukko almost unemployed. Should there be smaller Skrama? For me 240 is perfect - both side and weight. Just one problem. What the hell should i do with Terävä Tiny, 'cos I bought that one too? =) Seriously, that needs better sheath.
Altho I do not own a 240, I couldn't agree more with your assessment of the 200, my friend. The 200 is an amazingly versatile blade and one of my favourite knives. It is 100% my fave 'big' blade. And indeed, if verastaleka were to make a mid sized Skrama, I'd be all over it like flies on stink! Why not complete the family set and make a 110 and 140 Skrama?!? 😮 I'd own them all. Also, sir, my little Skrama 80 is a total gem! A GEM! 😁 They're just great knives.
Yeah totally! This actually exeeded my already high expectations! Thought its going to be great, didnt thought its going to be so goddam versitale also. Just does it all. Thank you for your review of both to show how each blade performs depending on what task (helps me decide what I would more need when I plan on picking one up). Varusteleka are complete professionals at having such good grinds. My Terava Jaakaripuukko does perform better than a good handful of my knives at wood processing. I agree, varusteleka does really good, functional grinds. They're always thinking usability ahead. I would say that 240 is my main chopper, and best in terms of pure power and effectivness. But I do see me using the 200 much more. And taking that with me to the woods and leasing 240 at home. Its already all the time with me in the woods. Been waiting for this review :) I heard you mentioned a couple of times you wanted to get the 200 . last summer I couldn't decide on which one to buy , I bought the 240 and after 1 week I bought the 200. in my use I found the 200 more natural in the hand for various tasks and somehow feels much lighter to carry, as you mentioned the 240 is like a dedicated chopper. I was surprised to hear you had the same feeling wanting a smaller Skrama between the Jääkäripuukko 140 and the 200 :) that was my exact thoughts after about 2 days .

I own - and love - both my Skrama 240 and the Skrama 200. The Skrama 240 has replaced my 'Berner Gertel' ( Big Brother of the Skrama 240, but with a rat tang) as favorite gardening chopper, while the Skrama 200 comes along on most bushcraft outings ( together with a 50cm Saw and a Neckknife ). The Skrama 200's deciding advantage is its lower weight and length, much more portable!

This video comes at just the right time. I received my Jääkäripuukko 110 yesterday and have been thinking about which knife/tool I want to put alongside it. Especially as I've been wanting a larger, very robust blade for a long time. So I think I will have to order the Skrama 200 now. There is only one question, which may seem silly to you. But I haven't been able to find a satisfactory answer so far: what is the hole in the blade for? Well, I could hang the Skrama on a small branch when I'm not using it. But I already have the "lanyard ring" for that. Interesting vid as always! Thanks!
The Skrama 200 is nothing short of an amazing knife. Absolute beast, yet does super nice feathers, better than many my mid sized belt knives. Varusteleka does great truly functional blades. I've heard few suggestions of why the hole. But looked their website, and it says, like you said, its for hanging. Dont see that often such a "spyderco hole" in large blades. You wont regret the 200. Interesting comments on both knives. Curving the cutting edge of the blade makes it more useful than a Seax shape. I also notice they differentially harden the blade which is a bonus. Blade looks like a large Japanese Higonokami - which is a great utility blade shape (I carry one as my EDC pocket knife). Cheers & thanks for the post.

Richard, when you're alone in the woods, who's gonna look at you? Even if there were people, practicality gets the job done. Not fancy pancy superfly looks. That's why i love Skrama 240 and Jääkäripuukko 140.
