The battle of Quiberon Bay was fought during the Seven Years War. After a series of defeats, the French planned an invasion of Britain to help reverse their losses. When the British found out, French ports were blockaded by the Royal Navy, but when a group of French ships escaped the blockade they headed to Quiberon bay to join up with the invasion force. Would the British be able to prevent
this from happening? Find out in this animated tactics video!

The French were pretty much destined to lose at sea against the British. The mere fact that they faced continuous headwinds when leaving Brest or Rochelle made it impossible for them to meet the British with the wind at their backs. Add to this the lack of deep water ports on the Channel coast and they were pretty much stuck trying to come out of the Med, sailing right past Gibraltar. Also, once stuck in port (usually for months on end) their sailors couldn't train while the British trained constantly and their commanders were always eager for a fight. It was rinse and repeat for the British and the French both during the Napoleonic wars as well.
