interesting that they give you a locking dc cable on the power supply side, but not add the matching locking recepticle on the hub side. Would think that since they have the locking cable already there is no reason to not use the locking recepticle to ensure that the power cable does not accidentally get disconnected. Also would expect a locking USB cable for the host cable, but maybe i have been too familiarized with high end AV equipment where locking cables have become something of a standard to prevent cables getting accidentally disconnected. Many locking cables also provide extra weatherproofing as well. EDIT: i had to dig to check but the USB hubs we use are either StarTech or Exsys industrial USB 3.0 hubs, these all come with locking cables for both inputs and outputs, and supporting a wide range of voltages. All in Steel chassis with standardized DIN specific moutning.

Yeah I can only assume that maybe the PS is used for one of their other products as well.

Nice showcase! Like you, if I needed a hub, I just use a regular old one but I have thought about getting a good powered one so I'll check this one out.

Great video Rich as always. I have a request, can you do a quick video on your GPS/GLONASS USB GPS Receiver? What are the pros and cons, how do you set it up and use it. Thanks.
@DeepSpaceAstro
@DeepSpaceAstro 4 месяца назад
Maybe. It was just a matter of plugging it in. No drivers were needed. I mostly use it with EQMOD, but Stellarium sees it too.

@@DeepSpaceAstro Does NINA see it too?

Yep it can be queried from the Astrometry section

So you know almost all USB 3.0 hubs offer the same features, over protection. It's $200 is $100 to much, I would expect the price will come down when it does not sell? Most don't need that much current from the 3.0 ports. If all 6 USB ports supplies 2.5 amps per port then 15 amps and the included is only 5 so it can't supply that much, unless they are talking for just 1 USB 3 port? Really good testing!!
@DeepSpaceAstro
@DeepSpaceAstro 2 месяца назад
You're correct, it's not 2.5A per port concurrently. Thanks

Another great video. Thank you for all the work you put into these videos. I would like to ask you a question. I couldn't help but notice you have the same GPS Dongle that I do. But I have never been able to get NINA to recognize it and of course, never gotten any updates into NINA. Being able to do that during the April Eclipse would have been really helpful as I was chasing clear skies and able to stay anywhere close to home. Could you let me know if you are successful in getting NINA to recognize and use the Dongle Data and explain how you are setup to do that? Thank you.
@DeepSpaceAstro
@DeepSpaceAstro 4 месяца назад
Yeah it works in NINA, EQMOD and Stellarium. Never had to do anything but plug it in and NINA saw. I know someone that had the same one, and could never get it to work. So maybe I just got lucky?

Looking over your right shoulder at what I think is a Redcat, are you running a single dew heater around both your main scope and guide scope?
@DeepSpaceAstro
@DeepSpaceAstro 4 месяца назад
I am. That strap is long enough to wrap completely around the RC, and then just runs over the top of the guide scope. It's been working well.
@scottrk4930

@@DeepSpaceAstrointeresting . What I saw was a way to decrease flexure between the guide scope and main scope . I’ve got to look into this a bit more. Thanks again .

Great review!! Can the usb output of that hub be connected into a pegasus power box usb in port and then going to the computer? I want to minimize the number of cables going down to the computer attached to the pier.
@DeepSpaceAstro
@DeepSpaceAstro Месяц назад
I have the Pegasus Powerbox Micro, so no USB ports on it. The input of the PBB connects to a USB port on the Armored Hub, and the input of the Armored Hub connects to the PC.
