The first Elite Four to get their own battle theme, and it really set the tone for what an Elite Four theme should sound like. In Gen 1 and 2, the Elite Four just felt like extra steps to the Champion, additional tests of strength much like the Gym Leaders before, since they shared their themes (actually in Gen 1, the Elite Four had regular trainer music). Here though... The Elite Four's job isn't to test your strength before the champion. *Their job is to stop you.*
I mean, you aren't supposed to know there is a champion in Gen 1. It doesn't get revealed until after you beat Lance. While this is always the case, Gen 1 was the first game (obviously), so _nobody_ at the time knew... not including magazines and word of mouth from those who played, of course.

HOT TAKE: They're both equally good. They definitely convey different feelings, the Hoenn E4 theme sounds more glorious while the Unova E4 theme is more tense, but that's what makes me appreciate both. Completely different emotions, both phenomenal songs. They fit their circumstances well. The call-back to the Hoenn E4 theme in the Unova E4 theme is also really sweet.

While I've never PLAYED any of the Hoenn games (please don't kill me, I have copies of the games + the Gen 1 remakes coming in February) I can say ALL of the music I've heard so far are AMAZING
For me Drake gave me issues. I didn’t have ice Pokemon. I remembering retrying multiple times because I would get cooked I learned to appreciate ice Pokemon more after this 💀
