A lot of people obviously find the idea of a game set in world war 1 controversial, but I think it might possible teach people about world war 1 because these days it seems that no one really remembered it
+theeOnslaught uncharted 4 is an interactive movie, so no goty for that since its not a game lol. Dark souls 3 is pretty much the same as the last dark souls game
Yeah BF1 is an amazing game and i'd say the most fun in the franchise to play but the rubber banding and teleport lag is really annoying me, my ping has stayed under 100 95% of the time and ive gotten up to 200 and i think 400 once which is bad but under 100 i shouldnt be lagging i should be moving smoothly, otherwise great game
Tare Arnaut um? 90 is fine, you wont experience any noticable lag until you reach 200 ping, dont try to say thats wrong as ive played tonnes of online games and bf1 is the only one i lag on under 200ping or at least notice it
I feel like this game deserves a little more praise for its immersion, the sound design is pretty amazing with a good set of headphones, In one match me and some random on my team were being sneaky trying to capture an objective, it was so quiet and i just hear a quick and sudden sound of him getting sniped in the head right next me, it startled the shit out of me, i was out.
huge battlefield fan since 1942. I bought the standard edition for xbox one. This is the best battlefield game since BF3, maybe since Bad company 2. There are fewer weapons to unlock than in previous games but I honestly sort of see that as a bonus, as I'm sure we are going to get more in the expansions. This is the best single player battlefield has seen since the first bad company. It's not even really that good, but for battlefield it's incredible. its fun and it does a great job of making you feel like you're living in a different time period, which is always cool. As for the battlepacks, i don't see why anyone would get upset about them, as you can't even buy them with real money, unlike overmatch's loot boxes. Now it comes to the big question with this game. Should everyone bite the bullet and buy premium for 50 dollars or should they give up on this game after 3 months? I think we should wait and see what the first expansion looks like. If it's just maps and weapons, like with battlefront, then fuck it, the game is dead. There won't be enough content to sustain a 2 or 3 year gameplay cycle like with BF3 or 4. If the expansions contain maps, weapons, vehicles, game modes, and maybe even extra single player missions (WHICH WOULD BE REALLY COOL), then hell yes, this game will be so worth 110 dollars, just like BF3 was. People get really mad about the amount of money that battlefield costs, but if you really look at it as the main shooter you're going to be playing for 2-3 years, it's totally worth it. they end up more than doubling the amount of maps and weapons in the base game and it basically becomes 2 or 3 games in one. It's one of the best things about the modern battlefield games (since bf3). as for the actual gameplay, its sort of a hybrid between bf3 and bad company 2, with more of a focus on 3. The 64 player matches with planes are still here, so you're never going to truly get that infantry focused, vehicle second, squad focused gameplay that you got in BC2 (which i thought was the best in battlefield's franchise history). However, with the new added emphasis on squad orders and capturing flags (and the decreased emphasis on kills), there does seem to be more of a connectedness within one's squad. you'll often see squads sticking together and all focusing on one point, EVEN IF 2 or 3 of the squamates are the sniper class! This is awesome, and what could make it even better than battlefield 3 in my opinion. Also: the behemoths (zeppelin, dreadnought, armored train) are awesome, and a blast to play in and to fight against. It's a great way to try and help the losing team, and it does a good job to feel very powerful without feeling unbalanced. Have fun out there guys, this one is a lot of fun. And please, PTFO!
Ik that by 1942 you mean the game note the date but.......... man if you’ve played that game since 1942 you must be almost 100 years old! I’m sorry it had to happen
+thekenji2221 depends in what stand you're talking from , if you're talking about the price you can always save up for it but if you're talking about the how the gameplay is you could've just played the beta and known
We need to stand up against fucking DLCs and season pass, companies now days think it's okay to give your half a game and sell the rest in sections to charge you the price of buying 3 bloody games! It's stupid.
that crap is fkn infuriating ,,, ive got friends that have dumped and this isnt an exaggeration 5 to 8 thousand dollars in mobile games and as long as we have Jack ass fool Morons pulling that level of stupidity this bullshit will continue
*For anyone transitioning from CoD games.* ( I did that after mw2, and have played every BF and CoD since). It'll take you a few weeks to get used to Battlefield. Bf has multiple game modes that you will easily do well in if you're good at CoD, and I'd recommend focusing on those at first (Domination, TDM, War Pigeons). After you're familiar with the mechanics, Kits, etc. you can start playing rush (which you can start off with too if you wanna try out vehicles for instance, it's just a bit more overwhelming but nothing major), and eventually conquest if you like the vehicles. If you have friends who want to take you to conquest instantly, showing off tanks, airplanes, open plain huge maps etc. Trust me, it's a mistake. Your CoD friend isn't used to that, and will just get turned off, even if you found it amazing.
I'm the guy who bought battlefields for campaign and usually switched back to cod WWII after half an hour of battlefield online. Time to give this another go though! Helpful comment!
honestly, my favorite maps are nivelle nights, monte grappa, and rupture. they all especially nivelle nights, because it has that gritty no mans land chaos where you're completely exposed when outside of the trench
Chris Klee Weirdly enough CoD does a good job with making the UI match the game. Such as in WaW where the UI was darker and didn't look futuristic and clean.
Before you buy: -break up with your GF -buy amounts of food -tell family you died -locke the doors and turn of cellphones -pay internet and electricity bills in advance
Very good review, Jake. I do think that it is quite strange how I managed to be one of those few people who apparently encountered no glitches in single/multiplayer at all. I bought the game on PS4 a few days after it came out and it has been running super smoothly. In any case, as a person who almost never plays multiplayer games and prefers story-driven ones, I still definitely recommend this game, especially if you have your buddies in your squad in Operations.
THEINVISIBLEWAFFLE well, there's a learning curve with a lot of games. I've never played dark souls and I just got Bloodborne, I figure once I beat Bloodborne and play dark souls there will be a learning curve with that.
you gotta doit.....def donr expect to be gettn a ton of kills right of the bat....BF is a game that has a little bit of a learning curve so dont get turned off by it if you die alot at first...its def not COD.Keep that in mind and youll do fine
I contacted Microsoft to cancel my pre order of infinite warfare. I've been having way too much fun with bf1 since Thursday. I never even liked cod. Even them bringing back modern warfare couldn't get me to spend my hard earned money on it
You correctly pointed out that the campaing was a glorified tutorial. But the operations mode is probably the best game I've ever played since Couter-Strike came out. The sounds and the visuals are incredible. There are so many really cool bunkers to defend/attack. Bunker war is my favourite part.
Bf 1 is amazing. About five years ago i worked as a tour guide in france and i took british school groups on educational tours to museums, and ww1 sites... Ea did a great job with battlefield history wise. They really show what a shitty, pointless thing it was. The attention to detail is great too. Like in the trenches, you see loads of rats. These were called trench rats and were a real issue for soldiers. Ea did a great job with recreating no mans land. I love the music, graphics and gameplay. The campaign is the best I've played in a shooter. I def prefer it to cod.
Paul Schmit It is historically inaccurate. I'll give you a few examples I could name off the top of my head: tanks were not in World War I up until the very end, no automatic weapons besides the Lewis-Gun and the Maxin Machine Gun, both those were mounted, combat was based in the trenches on the Western Front (the Eastern Front was a lot different in comparison), I could go on, but I think you get the jist. It's still a fun game though, and I really enjoy it.
Sairam101 yeah I agree it's very very historically inaccurate but it's still a fun game. if they had made it more accurate, I don't think people would find it very fun
Sairam101 The first use of tanks on the battlefield was the use of British Mark I tanks at the Battle of Flers-Courcelette (part of the Battle of the Somme) on 15 September 1916. The war started in July 28, 1914 and ended in November 11, 1918. In the game we are introduced to the war in 1918 near the end after the americans joined the fight in 1917. So the game is not innacurate. I visited a ww1 museum in france where a lot of the weaponry was kept and there were a lot of automatic weapons too.
Playing operations on St Quentin Scar in my opinion is a must. Since 80% of it is trench warfare, it almost feels like your in WW1 with the exception of everyone using automatic weapons
no the explosion sends the bullet and some of that explosion,or gas that is in the barrel is pushed into a gas tube that goes back to the bolt and cocks it again , if it pushed the bolt back with recoil and no gas tube it would just fly open and your bullet wouldnt fly as fast because you are losing power when the bolt opens up , watch a video on ar 15 builds , they are built off this
Was really impressed. just bought it, and was blown away in the Multiplay. As someone who sucked at Battlefield in the past, I did not feel alienated. I was able to get kills and feel like a contributing part of the team.
Some people are just judging games from what they've seen and haven't played it themselves, infinite warfare, bf1and titanfall 2 are all good in there own way.
GastonBoucher That's true. I guess because the US has been involved in the Middle East for so long, three different games could be made about it. I enjoyed the campaign of Battlefield 1 much more than any other that came before...well, except for the Bad Company games, but they're not making them anymore. Hopefully with the Switch, EA might consider either continuing or rebooting the franchise.
I don't think so, people who play COD prefer it's style to BF and vice versa, even if the BF game is "better" there will be enough COD players to keep it going
well you will be disappointed, activision/treyarch whoever they are announced that you cant play MW remastered without the infinite warfare disc which is about 12678936789987654 GB...
I bought it and I love the game, there are so many sniper spots but they aren't overpowered, it has a mix of trench warfare, run and gun , and not everyone will just pick up a trench gun (shotgun) or a atomatic, there is a mix of everything and I highly recommend it, I love playing the campaign and it's so easy just to get into a match and fight
Yes, but if you're only buying the game for the single player, I wouldn't recommend that. The bread and butter of BF has always been Multiplayer. Although the single player is beautiful and fun, it is too short and simple to be worth 60$.
i couldnt even play multiplayer it wont let me so i did repair on origin but decided to cancel so i could play some campaign and fix it will i sleep but now cant even play... MONEY WORTH SPENT... not to mention i had to go through the process of fixing the V++ issue and it DIDNT EVEN DOWNLOAD THE FULL GAME! Ya you would think they would give you the hull thing but nope! THEY MAKE YOU DOWNLOAD 30 MORE GB's TO ONLY DOWNLOAD EVEN MORE GB'S!
I love you gameranx but I hate when people shit talk battlefield 4 they played it for the first week then stopped not realizing that they completely fixed it and regularly update still making it feel just as good as new games plus in my opinion having played hardline and 1 I still think battlefield 4 in its current state blow them out of the water especially hardline.
Kailen Coghlan people did the same to Hardline. Just because it's different and they couldn't accept that Hardline was a lot more unique than bf4. Every weapon has a different quality whereas bf4 almost every sniper acted the same.
I was watching back at this vid because I lowkey wanna get into battlefield again then I got a thought. "What if gameranx reviewed BF4 and Halo 3 and all these older games too" (It could be another series like "before you buy" and could give older games a revival hopefully)
great game, currently have 74 hours played and thoroughly enjoying every aspect. first impressions i was slightly skeptical of infinity/vehicle balance (particularly tanks) but it all falls nicely into place as you learn the game
Based on what i saw so far and knowing that this is again on the Frosbite engine i can assure you that the gameplay is like BF4 and Battlefront : You die in cover because of the bad server registration system and global netcode, instant death even if the ennemy use a full magazine on you it doesn't matter, you saw him kill you with one shot, lag compensation is used and because you play against dudes who lives far away from the server you're on you'll have a huge ingame disadvantage. Having a good network on a BF game doesn't help at all if just one guy got an insane ping. I'm not hating or trolling, if you don't know BattleNonSense go take a look at his videos you'll see by yourself that DICE is an amazing group of people doing an incredible job in terms of graphics and art but because of EA and the engine the netcode is bad and will stay bad. (sry if there is some errors here, English isn't my native language, i just hope you see what i mean)
I AoS I Nexus I personally haven't had any real issues aside from trivial bugs in terms of gameplay. In fact, I've yet to have a high ping or find someone with a high ping because there are so many players and so many servers.
Samuel Rick Don't know what you expected, it was always like this. Plus it would be boring and unbalanced if you could only use the weapons that the nation you're playing as invented.
I like the Kaisersclacht Operation. The first map looks really brutal, as in visualizing how brutal WW1 was. That's the one you want if you're looking for the trenches. The good ol Germany vs Britain.
Sorry. But this isn't anything like battlefield (bf4 included), or like it used to be. Passing on this. Going back to playing BF2142. Love that they brought that back.
The fact that everyone is sprinting around with SMGs or one shot kill sniping? It feels alot more like CoD than previous BF titles. It feels like it lacks strategy which was why BF was a better war game than CoD. Both turned into run and gun games.
Ray Zer And wheres the difference to the last 3 BF games there ? People do the exact same stuff in BF3, BF4 and Hardline. Doesn't matter if they do it with a P90 or a Hellriegel 1915..... If anything, you need more tactics, because you need more than 1 guy to take down a tank.
I got the game with the season pass and I actually kind of regret it. The novelty wears off very quickly. The missions themselves are rehash of all the stuff we've seen in many shooters. Sneak, snipe, get item, survive.
It's honestly kind of hard for a military shooter to mix up the formula. I never understand why every game needs to innovate anyway, if something is popular and works, why change it for changes sake? Personally not getting this game as not an MP person any more and EA are rip off merchants for their content and season pass practices. Plus the game itself doesn't appeal to me, it's more like WW2 with the prevalent automatic weapons.
Well, it's easy for a shooter to try to innovate with it's SINGLE player campaign. But It's 2016, we still have titles with AI WORSE than in the 90's, campaign that are (at least) 3 times shorter and that are also boring as fuck. The only relatively recent shooter I see that tried to innovate a bit was spec ops : The line. That's it.
I see your point, and agree about AI being worse, although there weren't many military shooters back then. Singleplayer has sadly become less relevant for shooters the past few generations, this one in particular. The success of something like Battlefront or Overwatch has shown publishers they don't even have to bother with singleplayer for a game to sell like hotcakes, so sadly it's gonna get worse from here.
You have a point with overwatch, but that is Blizzard and for their fans they can do no wrong. Battlefront however, got panned hard for not having a campaign. And I don't think it was because it didn't have a story, I think it was because it didn't have a story, AND it was a lackluster, shallow cash grab, like most EA products.
@Godz_killa How am I triggered? You really can't indicate what emotion is being felt through text because I definitely wasn't mad at this random comment, if I wanted to I could say that you're triggered of my comment XD.
@Godz_killa What? Fix your grammar bud. And when I said shit I didn't refer to bf1 being actual shit. Its just a term people use instead of "thing" or "stuff".
Homefront 2 was just so bad. It was made by a whole new company as well. They don't even acknowledge the first game or have multiplayer. The first Homefront was not that bad and the multiplayer was pretty fun to me.
keith miles maybe you shouldve just waited a couple days for reviews with homefront. If you watched any gameplays you could see how terrible it is. You cant really get ripped off with battlefield
5:06 Wait, wut? Zeppelins were near-impossible to down, even after the invention of incendary bullets. During the entire war only 2 were downed, and even then one just on accident.
Heru Solares hahahaha those were flying coffins. They were only used in like 2 battles/bombings. If u we're flying all you needed to do was shoot a few holes in it or use a flare gun and shoot it
Quite wrong, they weren't flying coffins. They were terrific aerial bombing machins, going as far as London and bombing it several times. They were used for more than a 1000 scouting missions an more than 200 hundred bombings. To down one you needed a machine gun on a plane loaded with incendiary bullets and explosive bullets and then MAYBE you'd destroy it. There were something like 13 in the german air force IIRC and I don't think they were used in battlefields.
Heru Solares Actually, WWI zeppelin were highly flammable. They fixed it near the end of WWI but never really set sail for them. They were rarely ever used.
I picked up the bundle with battlefield 1 and the Xbox one S bc I wanted to try something new and this is probably one of the best graphical games I've ever played. It's almost like a little history lesson too.
You can manage pretty well with the bolt rifles, I went 70-27 yesterday with the gewehr 98 infantry variant(iron sights), I made my magnification 2x I believe and was playing aggressively.
single player airplane controls are taken straight from star wars battlefront (which removes 3 axis of control of your aircraft), but in mutliplayer the flight model is the classic/proper one
sampsalol now I can tell you for a fact that 1 year from now it will hardly be cheaper at all. And there haven't even been a whole lot of bugs reported
Did you know that in the battlefield v screen where you press X or A or whatever to start the person has two right hands, once you’ve seen it, you cant unsee it
6:00 Battlepacks are SKINS only, except for 2 melee weapons... which don't affect the game. You can't "purchase" them either... you can acquire one with scraps from scraping duplicate skins, otherwise it's a random drop for % of players at the end of a round.
