Battlefield 1 is an iconic and unique entry into the Battlefield franchise. Full of atmosphere and chaotic combat. Why was it so great? Let's take a look! Leave a LIKE and a comment, thanks for watching.
The thing that makes a battlefield game good I feel is like when you’re in a match, winning or loosing, it makes you feel like you’re important to your team. My favourite game of all time
Agreed. Also seeing how the battle starts always gives me a sense of immersion with us running to vehicles or fix something or load up and then proceed to the obj
Just reinstalled this the other day. The immersion difference between this and 5 is mind boggling. Playing as the Italians with the explosions and screams and rolling bodies while charging up Monte grappa is quite a experience. Best battlefield game
Huh, running around maps using horse is immersive? Well, what war/battle have ever been like that? Dude, BFV has beach landing in Iwo Jima and what? Its so immersive.
@@mhazg6621 "What war/battle have ever been like that" You honestly don't even know simple history facts. No surprise you think battlefield 5 is better.
Couldn’t agree more. Dawn of a New time, Lacrimosa, War Of the Pigeon and We will Fight are truly videogame masterpieces for me. Not to mention the super tense end of round battle music when playing Verdun and Fort de Vaux which is titled Get Us Out of Here Never has a videogame score (especially of an FPS game) made such impression on me. Johan Söderqvist & Patrik Andrén have truly outdone themselves in my opinion
For those that are saying they miss the game, hop back in! There’s still a pretty large player base on it. You can typically get into operation games really quickly still and tdm, pigeon, and conquest are still really popular. Come back for the nostalgia!
Bro how do you get like good servers? I don't know if my game is broken but everytime I join a match it's only me, or it says that it's waiting for other players to join. The only way I can join is by entering custom servers. It's annoying can you please help?
@@tonyrobarte8253 I know it's $10 a month but I have to pay Xbox live and I have a Nintendo switch I have to pay that plus we're currently getting new Wi-Fi and I need to get more things plus as you know jobs are kind of a problem right now
Sniping was good but other weapon's sounds were shit. Like i have said it's like shooting a bb gun with jingle bells. It should sound really loud and beefy. If you have ever been in the range you know what i'm talking about
Everyone has said everything I wanted to, but how about the sounds and screams of soldiers, both friendly and enemy? It was just a nice touch that made everything else-the gritty, gray environment clapping with bursts of fire and the cinematic, battle-ridden music that enveloped an endgame of operations-fit in together like a puzzle. The "GAASSS!!!", "Take that OBJECTIVE!!", and the visceral, sometimes funny "AAAHHHAAHahahaHAAaaaaaaa!!!" that burst from a soldier either on fire or in the middle of a bayonet charge, made BF1 the best battlefield in my humble opinion.
I think it also added a lighter side to the game as you would be in a serious situation you squad dead and you loq on ammo and all you would hear is objective butter
Yeah it was. Ngl it's still good but the cheaters are too much. In bf4 servers could have a custom anticheats if i remember correctly so that's why BF4 today is better. But when it launched bf1 was definitely the better one.
Playing medic in bf1 was the best, i loved the semi-auto rifles, especially the mondragon. The movement system complemented playing medic really well, sliding around, throwing bandages, reviving and two tapping enemies was so god damn satisfying.
I was pretty much a Scout main, but whenever I needed to get the Player Highlight for the daily 50 Scraps, I would always play the Medic (and whenever I just wanted to play a different class).
Yea being medic was the best, sometimes I would just run around with the syringe the whole match and revive like 80 players a match haha those were fun days
I always noted a lack of medics in the early games I played on battlefield 1 so I just took up that role from the get-go. Haven’t progressed hardly at all in the other classes when compared to the medic. Mondragon sniper was the gun I used for ages, until I started using the fedorov avtomat trench which makes me feel like I’m playing as an assault.
For me battlefield 1 was the last game that gave me good memories, Like a song you listened to in the past that makes you feel, think back and remind you of that particular time of your life.
It reminds me of winter 2017. I just got home from school every day turned the playstation on and played bf1 with my mates until I went to bed and rinse and repeat. I still get excited thinking about it even now.
I seriously love how cinematic this game feels. Charging into a battle with explosions around you and planes flying above just felt so good here. By far the best feeling Battlefield game so far. It took my favorite part of the games and dialed it way up
This game was SO cinematic. I would always play operation and enjoyed trying to push through lines of enemies to capture the objective. AND THE MUSIC! It made me feel like I was playing a movie. However, I always ended up coming back to Battlefield 4 because it didn't have the same "Battlefield moments" that the modern setting allowed for. Watching a blimp go up in a ball of flames is cool, but trying to land a rocket launcher shot on a helicopter that is fully intent on killing you is so much more engaging and satisfying if done successfully.
Oh yeah man operations is amazing. Hearing my fellow comrades push forward, bombs exploding, tanks coming towards you, airplanes and the music just makes it so much better. The atmosphere is flawless
Yeah, they absolutely nailed that aspect of the game. I don’t feel like any game before BF1 truly made me feel like I was part of a War. When it came along it was just like, ‘finally. That game I’ve wanted since childhood is here.’
I loved this. I understand why the og’s didn’t but it was absolutely beautiful. Some of the dlc was epic. Vehicles were fun and operations are the best game mode I’ve ever played on any game.
As someone who plays since BF2...BF1 was great fun and probably had the best DLC in BF History. Especially the eastern front. Loved winning operations against all odds.
@@paulsylvester6388 Same. Played everything and like every release, except BFV. BF1 was great for just jumping in and doing a quick game (life's changed, got kids now so not so much time for gaming all the time) but also for a longer match if you want. It kinda offers both.
Bf1 was so good in so many ways. The maps, music, sound effects, gameplay, dialog.. everything. And i feel that the even the graphics are better than bf5 in a way, especially the foliage and trees, they just look fake in bf5, like just about everything else in that game
Yeah even the weapon camos in bf5 just look nowhere near as detailed although I like the fact that you didn't need loot boxes to get them but nothing in the game looked anywhere near as beautiful as bf1.
Loved the custom game mode “back to basics”! Everyone running around with iron sights snipers but keeping the classes with special abilities. Amazing times.
Oh yeah I got 88 kills with Russian 1895 on like my first game of that, I just don't know why they didn't make it a permanent game mode it was sooo much fun on operations.
I still can’t describe the feeling I got the first time I played operations and we took our first sector and you could hear the battle cries of the men preparing for another push
@@mhazg6621 I love Battlefield 5 too but there is something with battlefield 1 we call it "The Atmosphere" in bf5 there is an atmosphere but not like bf1
Troy Krentz heres some tips: stay prone a lot, don’t get into firefights, stay in cover when you’re at objectives or just in general, and if you decide to use behemoths, don’t use the blimp
@@Lxcx333 I actually don't mind that. Random bullet deviation is not favorable, but the whole suppression mechanic is imo good. It makes it to where you will have to start changing your location and force camping strats.
@@MattPawlowski Team balancing I think is the worst part of battelfield and honestly makes a lot of games unplayable, at least right now. I played defending ballroom blitz and the americans didnt get a single sector with all three battalions. Im not good at the game, but they had zero cohesion and no good vehicle drivers or anything, while my team was able to hold the line and retake the sectors multiple times. Plus, the attempts at balancing sometimes overbalance, and what once was a fierce hold the line and tug of war for sectors became steamrolling. Its way more fun to be the steamroller than the steamrollee, but the most fun ive had in battelfield1 is when its really felt like if we mess up this hold or push then it will have lasting consequences, instead of hopeless balancing or taking sector after sector
I don’t like the guns that much really but the actual experience of the battlefield is amazing. It feels so chaotic and big. BFV felt so empty and hollow.
J H I mean imagine how terrifying the game would be if it was more realistic, just sitting in a trench, fog all around and then random fire just comes at you picking off your team mates one by one and you can’t even see the enemy.
Actually found BF1's gunplay refreshing coming from BF4, where every weapon and class felt the same. Funny enough, I loved the single-action rifles in the Beta. They were Bloom accuracy done right. You could spam them but you wouldn't be accurate. You had to get the timing down just rIght and when you did they felt SO GOOD. I found it ironic when people called it a casual crutch for new players when it was an actual layer of depth beyond aiming and shooting to master the weapons. I real shakesperean tragedy.
Totally agree on the Gunplay. Maybe the sniping mechanics were more causal but Gunplay for the full auto’s & Semi Auto’s definitely had some depth. It rewards Precision & trigger control so once you are good at pacing your shots at range especially with the Semi Auto’s then you can easily dominate the entire lobby
@@krashsite2125 Me, in a sense. I didn't mind BF1 and certainly BFV has made it look a lot better than I remembered it. However, it's just the era which throws me off. I prefer my modern weapons and technology available to us nowadays compared to back in WW1. I think in terms of some of the movement mechanics such as being able to vault walls and then climb over higher walls is something that I would love to see in a modern day based Battlefield and a definite improvement over the other games. Of course visuals were a lot better as technology advances and it was another step forward so I can't complain in that department either. One of the big things I disliked was the weapon play, it felt waaay too easy. I could put on the trench carbine and hipfire people for days without really trying and I'd end up getting 50-60 kills just by hipfiring. The mechanics should take at least some skill to master, not just put a trench variant on and click lmb.
I played BF1 so much that it started to leak into my dreams. I would get to soar high over the fields of France, or squat deep in the muddy trenches. Simply turning off the HUD could give you an atmospheric experience like no other game. I hope one day DICE will be brave enough to return to The Great War as its setting, there are so many stories of bravery yet untold.
One thing that I immediately fell in love with in this game: the scenery. The maps are designed so well, that even just running around in them is a pleasure. They are also varying a lot, many different regions with different flavours... this game just nailed it.
My favorite Battlefield game, probably forever. Absolutely amazing atmosphere, great setting, awesome maps and weapons. Nothing else like it, not even within the series. I’ve loved nearly every Battlefield but this one truly feels unique.
Still playing BF1 to this day. Never in my life that a game atmosphere so immersive, it got me down WW1 rabbit hole. BF1 made me interested in World Wars history.
You guys should check out dan carlin's hardcore history podcast. He has a very in depth series on WWI called "roadmap to armageddon". I think its around 6 episodes. Highly recommend if you havent listened to it already.
The overall presentation for this game was just impressive. The interface, the medals, the kill notifications, those little sound ques, all super satisfying and something I feel was lost in BFV
Game developers should try more games ideas that aren’t too safe, like, I get so bored of games nowadays, they’re just too much for “everyone”, I get way funner moments from games that take a leap and just try something new
Battlefield 1 made me feel like no other game did. It was the most immersive experience at the time and i spent hours upon hours with my friends just going at it on operations. I will miss the prime bf1 era so much. gr8 m8 I r8 8/8 btw
I was going through a rough time in my life and battlefield 1 was there for me even to this day I remember setting up my Spotify playlist and starting up the game, Brusilov Offensive was my favourite operation, used to play 5 even 7 hours a day. I was always lost on that battlefield fighting alongside my buddies. One of the best games ever made
Same brother! I was in a rough spot at the time and I would grind all the operations and would never get tired of playing neither one of them. The vibrant colors and the musty dark ones complimented the gameplay so well. Much love
Bf1 is the first FPS game that my parents allowed to play, I can still remember coming home from school opening up the game and the theme song playing. Hoping in to some iron walls operations and taking a trip back to ww1. Honestly the best memories ever. And the gun cammos and look of the game was so class 👌👌
the music is great in this game. it feels so grand. My favorite is probably the one that plays during operations when you are attacking and when you spawn in the epick music starts playing, and you are charging towards the objective with all of your teammates. gave me chills evertime
This is the best videogame I have ever played, and it will be for the rest of my life probably. Cannot explain how well made it is and the amount of hours I spent enjoying it. Simply a masterpiece!
I loved nothing more than when a operation first begins as the attacking team and your just charging towards the enemy with the battle music in the background and everyone yelling and screaming and the trench whistles going. One of the best gaming experiences out there.
@George Harry bf4 is vehicle simulator. Bf1 is awesome for every way u want to play. And maps are best for 64 players, it never feels like empty. I can't say the same things for Bf4, so BF1 is way better imo.
Yeah Battlefield 1 may have lacked in some aspects. Ive been playing BF since 15 years. Honestly- BF1 is the most memorable BF imo. The atmosphere in the game is so amazing. I had so many moments where I was just in awe at how immersed I am into the gameplay . Best BF for sure.
Favorite game ever. the intensity was amazing, rushing cavalry through infantry and explosions, kicking up dirt and winging swords into players. T-Gewehr headshots...sniping in general. I even got into aviation. I miss it.
People are dumb. People say it wasn’t historically accurate, but then suggest things to put in the game that would make it more not historically accurate like fully customizable guns
@MOFELINEXT 2 Yeah idk why people in the halo community don't want something new, like literally the sprint and clamber system were really needed. But nah "tHiS nEw mOvEmEnT rUiNs hALO"
Wii idk if you’re kidding or not but sprint and clamber weren’t needed. Sprint would be cool if you could sprint as an in lore spartan but instead sprint makes you move slower than Halo 1-3’s “walking” speed and clamber had you jump lower so that you could grab onto a ledge for a second animation. Halo now is much slower paced because of sprint and clamber. Spartans should have the mobility of doom guy not CoD/BF
No other game can make me feel the same as when I play bf1. Protecting a bunker as multiple people try to break in while you and your teammates desperately throw grenades at the doors is one of the best feeling a game can give you.
This game was fun and I greatly appreciate it for the mere fact that they decided to take a risk covering a time period that basically nobody had touched before.
When the match was about to begin, Conquest in Passchendaele or Monte Grappa, you are the squad leader and just seconds after starting the match, you blow the whistle and everyone yells to combat running with their bayonets... It's those little moments that make these game special
Battlefield 1 had the best trailers I’ve ever seen even to this day. The soundtrack, the incredible detail, just the flow of it made the game a masterpiece.
I've played all Battlefield games from Battlefield 3 to Battlefield V and even though I wasn't a huge fan of gunplay Battlefield 1 still remains unbeatable in terms of the atmosphere. Music, maps, graphics. There is just nothing like those moments in operations or breakthrough mode on maps such as Paschendale and Nivelle Nights, when after the sector has been taken this incredible Battlefield 1 music would start roaring in the background and everybody would charge ahead while spamming the "GO GO GO" voice command which was convincingly - characteristic world war I whistle. All of that when you were shelled by enemy artillery, shot at by enemy machine guns and some friendly tank next to you would explode - but you, you would go on and finally stick your bayonet in some entrenched enemy soldier. Love that game for such moments.
I loved the Master Man series you put together. Probably the most fun I’ve had at a grueling Easter egg hunt. But the sweet dog tags and peacekeeper at the end of it was so worth it!
man i remember being so excited when bfv came out, it felt like we where gonna get bf1s immersion with the best gunplay ever. btw controversial opinion that shouldnt be controversial, bf1 did the inclussiveness thing right, there where women, as russian snipers, and there where the harlem hellfighters i remember being confused when i started the campaign just to end up learning that thats how it went down in history, meanwhile bfv...
I went back to Battlefield 1 a couple of days ago and found out that it still holds up very well. I however do not. I have never felt more washed up since a couple of weeks ago when I last played Battlefield 4.
I used to play this game everyday after work. Really great way to end the day. I have this great memory of when I got the flamethrower kit and went on a rampage.
Simplicity is more important than you think better to Ballance. This is my favorite bf to date you really feel the rush of running down a trench as the music soars
I loved being immersed in the Operations. It really felt like you're there in the war fighting for your life. I absolutely loved it. Also the map design was spot on, just as I imagine WW1 would look like. The passchendaele map is my absolute favourite.
I got BF3 and 4 recently and still don’t see how they are “better” than BF1, they don’t have the detail, the soul, the music, the weapons, the maps, the atmosphere. Sure they’re fun, but they’re both just the same modern war FPS. Battlefield 1 took World War 1, a rarely used war in games and made it so fun. I feel like a large portion of the Battlefield fanbase is just divided by nostalgia.
I started playing BF1 and BF4 as my first battlefield games in the past few months and I totally think that BF1 is the better game. The maps feel way less sprawling and overall design is better. BF4 always felt so slow and boring in comparison.
HELLO!!! I want to spend time with celebrities. Just kidding. GAGAGAGAGA! I only want to spend time with my two girlfriends and record RU-vid videos for with the 3 of us. OH YEAH. Don't hate me for living the best life, dear ths
The complete and utter chaos that was going on was definitely one of my favorite parts of the game. As well as the announcer's voice. This was the first Battlefield game I've played, and even though it's only completely died a year or two ago, I still get nostalgic while watching this.
Battlefield 1 is the only video game I've played where I didn't turn down the music. Something about loading into these large maps and having music build tension before the battle was incredible. It really is unlike any other game I've ever played. It goes for $9.99 on steam sales and it is a must buy if you've never played. Terrific video mate, you included a lot of great points and I enjoyed hearing your perspective on the game.
Yup Tup meh I still wouldn’t class that as a battlefield imo. It just felt more like a cod with how fast the gameplay was. The best thing for that would have to be the maps but definitely shouldn’t of been a battlefield title. Maybe just call it Hardline instead
ANY time I wanna play battlefield, this is the one I choose. Still enough players for conquest and other game modes and so many assignments for all the DLC weapons that I always have something to do
This game was so good, loved the operations felt like an actual war with stakes. Men just throwing bodies forward trying to take objectives while the other side tries to hold ground. I was so fucking disappointed BF5 wasn't just more of that
My favourite Battlefield! It taught me so much about a war often neglected in discussions, and the atmosphere / art style was second to none. Nothing else feels like doing a bayonet charge through the Somme in the pouring rain like BF1.
This video gave me a huge nostalgia trip. I loved Battlefield 1 more than any Battlefield yet. Of course there were things I didn't like but man, the atmosphere alone was enough to have me hooked to this game for hours all the way through it's life span. Will never forget St Quentin Scar, Argonne Forest, Achi Baba, Heligoland, Rupture. All amazing, atmospheric maps.
Same. The atmosphere was really good. Fighting to get into the bunkers of defenders and sweep them, destroying a village and then taking it, it just feels great. I miss atmosphere in BFV but the gunplay there is good. But I figured the atmosphere does it for me
I’m a casual battlefield fan and player but this is the most immersive and best battlefield game I’ve ever played. What a banger of a game I can’t wait for this to be free next month on ps plus
the destructible environments in battlefield one were unmatched. That crazy felling of seeing a whole building comedown to rubble after taking shells from a heavy tank, the massive foxholes created after a bombardment from an airship. By the end of the match it was like you were on a whole new map.
@@dizzyhint8800 Why not? I havent played it. I feel like thats what BF players always say though about the current title until the next one comes out. Then the previous becomes their favorite.
I just bought bft4 few weeks ago after more than 500 h of btf1, I recomend you play btf4 pc...is alive as btf1+btf3 servers (BTF1 still being my favorite as game but trust me after lots of hackers and burn conquest mode btf1 2020 summer +instant gaming give me an idea and now 0% regret after 40 hours...battlefield community is playing btf4 waiting for a remastered btf3 or 4... but as I said btf1 maps and sniper rifles are porn
