In the very opening you hear the radio chatter, like at 0:06 , i once had that sound effect loop in my head for like 3 hours while on mushrooms... Edit: i forgot the reason i came here was to say the MEC loading theme has also been stuck in my head for half my life hahaha

man I still think back to the days of playing this. It was one of my first online experiences and although I was a dumb kid I got really good with flying a Black Hawk and often landed on of the first spots in ranking just being a pilot. This game really knew about the importance of properly rewarding supplementary roles. Always played on the same server but then, one day, it was suddenly gone and all the "friends" I made there, or rather people I often played with, I have never seen or met again. It was devastating for me. Man, maybe I'd still play with the same guys if the game had a friendslist. They were really chill dudes and dudette. Cheers to all sweet memories made with people we will never see again! You'll never be forgotten.

After more than 15 years I still get flashback of playing this game, something about it is unmatched till the very moment, and whole BF franchise only went downhill past BF2. Game felt very popular back in the day, there was endless amount of servers, and people playing from internet clubs everywhere, it was small brother of cs 1.6, and 1.6 was gigantic. Sad to see how BF2 greatness faded into oblivion.

Going to my local LAN center in 2005ish at 12-13 years old and seeing the older 18-20 year olds playing this was so awesome. I quickly learned the game alongside counterstrike source and haven’t stopped fragging since. This game is the best battlefield ever made.

God I miss this game, I was around 8 or 9 when I started watching my dad play and eventually he let me make my own account and we would take turns playing. When I got older I always wanted to own my own computer and play with him. By the time I had my own computer he sadly lost interest in playing and I ended up getting a ps3.

I used to practice typing during the 10 year long map load on my old PC. I would type the description of the map. I can't tell you how many times I've practiced Gulf of Oman, Wake Island and Strike at Karkand. Between that and Runescape, I was able to type over 50wpm without learning proper form. Then I went to high school, reluctantly learned how to type right and became a beast.

indeed. and it says quite alot when i actually reinstall and play the oldschool battlefields instead of buying the next battlefield. EA doesnt know anymore what made Battlefield once great. Newer Battlefields just feel like COD with vehicles, and its no Fun anymore. Its just sad how everything turned out, but what do i expect from a Company that took Material that was just enough for a Addon, and sold it for 60 Bucks? exactly.

Gulf of Oman, Kubra Dam, Dalian Planet, Dragon Valley, Strike at Karkand. The good ol days, not to mention Battlefield 2 was my first actual shooter I played and loved every minute of it
