Battlefield 2042 as a Mil-Sim is fascinating! I found a portal server with some insanely fun rules and gameplay, good going! Leave a LIKE and a comment, thanks for watching.
Bullet drop and velocities are usually much more exaggerated in battlefield games in order to nerf snipers and make medium sized maps feel larger by exaggerating the affects distances have on ballistics
Seriously?? I honestly thought battlefield games were being generous with bullet velocity and that real guns have significantly more bullet drop. Then again I also don't know shite about guns
@@chrisa8863they are. A standard .308 win (Lapua) has a bullet velocity of around 750m/s from a 16" barrel. DXR in this game is supposed to be the same cartridge flying at 1000m/s.
Bullets typically move significantly faster IRL than they do in the majority of video games. For example the rifle you’re using in video, which is the Barrett MRAD, chambered in .338 Lapua Mag IRL, pushes a 250gr round down range at an average muzzle velocity of 900 meters per second. What this means in a basic sense, is that shooting anything with the above round, delivered from the above gun, inside of the “extreme range” for most video games, which is roughly 300m, would appear to be shot almost instantly…or in other words, bullets in the mode you were playing, although fast, we’re actually still slower than they would have been in real life at the same range. In real life, bullets move very, very quickly, especially magnum sized rifle bullets like the .338 Lapua and other similar cartridges.
I've been bitching about this for years. The bullet velocity in Battlefield needs to be increased substantially. Along with this, firefights of 500+ meters should be more common. They sort of had this right in BF4 where you could range enemies and snipe at 1000m. But back to your point, in real life, shooting a 5.56 rifle at 300m feels like the bullet gets there almost instantly. The gunplay needs to feel more realistic, both with velocities AND damage. Core needs to be abandoned.
@@NateJRSatt If battlefield was really like real war you would literally never see who you were shooting at, possibly making the worst video game experience ever. And real life bullets are slower than whats in the video. Faster than normal battlefield, but at the range he's shooting there would still be roughly a second before the shot would hit.
@@ZombieBacon13 i agree, squad and armour do IRL stuff like that well. I personally like to see what i'm shooting at rather than getting shot from a Pixl on my screen
@@ZombieBacon13well yeah but I think they should just make the bullets move a tad bit faster. When you shoot a sniper shot, it’s like watching a sloth move.
This is the most fun I’ve seen Jack have in a LONG time, and that truly says something about the direction DICE should head with the next Battlefield title. This video felt like an accumulation of everything I’ve loved about the franchise.
Last I played BF2042 this was indeed the server where I had the most fun, my biggest issue is that snipers are hilariously overpowered. They're pretty much hitscan so everyone and their mum plays recon for obvious reasons. I wish they could limit the projectile bonus to certain projectiles so snipers wouldn't be as prevalent.
@@Dealman15That sounds less like they're overpowered and more like they're somewhat semi-accurate to life. Instead of worrying about things being "overpowered," you need to play the game differently and negate their advantage.
@@_Jay_Maker_ Eh, no. All you have to account for is bullet drop, and there's basically 0 on that server. It's a point and click adventure that takes no skill. But it doesn't matter, I don't play that server no more and I don't play BF2042 anymore. You have fun sitting on that hill thinking you're hot stuff. :)
That sniper rifle you used has an IRL muzzle velocity of around 940 meters (3100 feet) per second. So almost a kilometer travelled in a single second. IRL bullets travel insanely fast. I don't know what they set their velocity to in the game but this sped up velocity feels closer to the real thing to me.
It pains me to see how battlefield 2042 could have actually been the best battlefield in history and DICE fumbled it looking at this video filled me with so much nostalgia. Reminds me of those late night lobbies I'd play with the boys..
@@Brbrnskhgf5666 yeah its an private server, but have you ever seen the rest of the game? its complete dogshit. in my opinion its the worst BF game ever made
Agreed. All they needed to do was focus on more realism. Higher velocity rounds, increased damage (hardcore as default), slower player movement, realistic graphics and environment, and no work/diversity BS. If they had done that this game would have had insane potential.
@@cobiemccoy that's because not enough people are playing so it isn't worth it for them. If even a quarter of the people who bought the game and stopped playing instead all played portal imagine the attention it would get
@@rosssouth3552 Sorry I can't answer that as I play on PC :) but I think that the consoles have access to Portal too? I do know that it is a EU server though. :)
Dude I’ve been playing on those servers and I love it especially when you get guys who are down to actually treating it like a military operation it’s the best there are hardcore servers that have realistic damage it’s fun and a challenge cause you have to think wisely on how you play your not “invincible” anymore I really like the way that the game is evolving in this way
This is Jack video from the future if the next BF is like this, which I hope it is, with official hardcore mode servers. "This actually gave me some Battlefield vibes" is a tragic comment to hear from one of the biggest BF content creators, while playing a BF game.
This was such a good video, proper battlefield nostalgia from this one. Haven't really heard anyone having such a good time in vids of the last few BF games!
The yardage at 6:23 read about 1300yds. The travel time for a 50 cal round at that distance is about 2 seconds depending on environmental factors so definitely not hit scan
.50 cals can vary from 2,600-4,000fps depending on the grain. That would be closer to 1-1.5 seconds to travel 1,300 yards. Video games drastically reduce projectile speed, typically to around half of what it should be, to create weapon balance
.338 lapua magnum is a faster, more ballistically efficient round than .50bmg. It has better terminal ballistics at ranges over a thousand yards than a fifty, as well. Because it's ballistic coefficient is so much better than the .50, it is also much more accurate over long ranges, due to much less bullet drop than the bigger, slower .50 cal round. It would reach the thousand yard mark a few tenths of a second before the .50 would.
Sniping is fun right now. In beta or when it first came out felt weird but, idk if they changed anything or i just naturally got better but, the shots feel good.
Happened to me yesterday and I was marking a hostile in plain sight but neither of them saw each other, I ended up respawning on them and downing the enemy player right after.
@@iamvariablex Same, but these mfs care too much for their KD to ever heal first. Aye you can be a field away, Im throwing smoke grenades and picking you up brother, dont die on me.
Honestly if I were Jack, I would use my influence to create community servers with custom game modes just so I have players in a cool server. Milsim, zombies, a bunch of vehicles like Tank Superiority and Air Superiority mixed together, superhuman sprint and 300% health. Would be cool if BF influencers were into it 😎
Haven't watched a video from you in a long time where you had so much fun making it. This is what battlefield is all about its a shame its lost its roots
Hey Jack thanks for all the amazing content over the years I don't really comment much but just wanted to take the time to tell you your content is awesome and I always look forward to seeing it. 👍
Love to see you playing on this server Jack! It's been my go-to the past few days. Sniping is very fun on it. Side note: I can't stand when medics won't do their job and revive other players haha
Lol that’s what I came to say. Sorry but COD took a big step back. BF 2042 started rocky but listened and made the necessary changes. I might be into what treyarch does but I might not even play that one either. Cod mobile is still pretty great lol
Oh wow I thought quite the opposite. My mind went to this video being a transaction when I heard the narration. I've been watching for years and appreciate the content. Although it would be disappointing, I would not be surprised and I'd understand if this video was motivated by anything other than a "passion" for BF games. Honestly, I think I'm enjoying BattleBit more than I have ever enjoyed a BF game. Though BF4, when it worked was great.
No it's not. I would absolutely HATE this. Incredibly, absurdly unbalanced. With snipers being this overpowered, I would straight up just never play it again. Y'all just keep proving y'all have no idea what you really want. It's just always 'not whatever the current game is'.
@@maynardburger no idea what we wan?? just because people have a different opinion on a game doesnt mean they have no idea what they want. The Afghan server is constantly active which is saying something and one of the most fun Ive had in a BF game in a long time.
@@maynardburger So what you wan't ? A battlefield with nerf guns ? Now battlefield is ridiculous you have to empty a rifle magazine for kill one guy . Did you know hardcore more or something like that ? Casual players ruin every games
@@kardaelMy man you can't blame on casuals they are the base of most games including Battlefield, blame on the devs who were unprepared to make a Battlefield game, you can always split into 2 gamemodes or more
This looks like so much fun and exactly what modern shooters should have been doing with the improvements to technical capacities of modern games: same core fun formula of objectives and vehicles resources on the battlefield with taking advantage of the larger distances and ways a battlefield map can play out. It is a shame these AAA companies have lost the spark of the original shooters through corporate bloat and probably losing most of the passionate developers who were responsible for the golden age of FPS.
Bullet speeds are much faster than previous BF titles. Now, with a DXR-1 w/ hi power rounds and long barrel, you can have bullet speeds of up to 1,150 meters/second. The Rorsch Mk.IV has 3000 m/s projectile velocity. Although, for SMGs and ARs, bullet velocities are still close to the values of previous titles. But when a PKP in BF4 had 560 m/s muzzle velocity, the BP version of BF2042 has 850 m/s stock. The NTW-50 has a 600 m/s muzzle velocity stock, but the M98B of BF4 had 650 m/s, second behind the JNG-90 with 670 m/s. So yeah, depending on the weapon type, projectile velocities were or weren't increased.
Jack made such a good video, he gave himself a few days breaks from posting 😂 no but FR, this video was amazing, i feel like i could watch it again cause it was really good
Makes my day seeing you cover this -- I've BEEN gaming the Afghan War Sim server. Just wait until you see what can be done with the rocket pods on the Attack Heli / A10
I don’t understand gaming studios. See how big the support is for BF3/4 for example. Bring a next gen, combined new version of it. Most of the work was already done, seems like a easy cashgrab for a studio and we all get what we want!
remember watching your bf1 and 5 vids..those maps were so thematic and beautiful..good times. better too sincei could hear properly. with maps that look like this you know theres just tons of ambience and atmosphere.
The ballistics in this mode seems a bit faster than in real life. 300win mag ballistic chart with an average load out to 300m is .34s , out to 600m is .67s, out to 1000m is 1.38s. At 1000m it has dropped 272in Or about 22 feet depending on your zero Some of your 1200m snipes were arriving in around a half of a second
Here's the problem nothing in the game is to scale, at about 11mins in the rep tool is like half of the vehicles height. If there's no consistent scale we can measure anything.
The M98b shot the .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge which would be going about 869 m/s (2,850 ft/s) in real life, I don't know the bullet speed in battlefield 2042 but in past games the velocity of rounds has been a lot slower than real life to make the game more fun, real life would almost be like hitscan anywhere inside of 300m
lol honestly you can turn off your hud in the settings and it will be just the same (unless their is no hud settings i dont play 2042, but this server makes me want to play it lol)
Sooo I don’t play for a week on BF2042 and Jack is playing on my favorite server…. Im just going to binge the game now until we get on the same server one day😂
Battlefield Portal mode is the best thing to happen. You've got all the eras, huge weapon variety, massive customization regarding number of soldiers, how vehicles spawn, etc. It's awesome
Such a fun and great video Jack! If only EA could learn that things like this is what the people want. Miss the fun but controlled chaos of older battlefields
Okay i am not gonna lie, this video looked sick from start to finish and loved the fun commentary. Honestly i wasnt expecting to have fun watching bf2042 since i have given up on the game and only watch videos every now and then from your channel....but damn man, that was fun !
